... what about us, the customers, who you just so condescendingly called spoiled brats.
This MacHeist is just not up to par; let alone the fact that someone is charging any kind of money for writeroom, which, in my opinion, is ridiculous.
Coversutra is pretty awesome though.
Yikes - the first bundle was good, the second was tempting, but this one isn't even enticing for me, personally.
Cha-Ching was part of MHII, but is not one even of the apps I use from that bundle...neither are the two other "re-runs", Awaken or CoverSutra. Now, why would I buy a second copy of apps I don't even use...?Ditto for me...Cha-Ching is the only thing that kinda stands out...everything else is a filler...
Isn't overflow's function removed by stacks?

Not at all, it would have been pretty much if the original Stacks concept had arrived in Leopard, but Overflow allows one 'work' stack for example, with say Word, Excel, and a few documents from around your Hard Drive.

The upcoming Mac Update bundle looks much better, even if it is a little more expensive.

Hello,
I've read a lot of comments in several weblogs and they are pretty evenly split between rejection and consent of thie idea behind the new MacHeist-Bundle.
That's my I searched the web for more and I found a German application developer with a very fair approach and perhaps this adds some new ideas to the heatedly discussion in the commentary sections?
Michael writes at http://myownapp.com/ this statement:
"Every MOApp Application works without licenses, serial number and activations. That sort of nonsense only punishes the honest among us.
For that reason, there are no 10/20/30 days demos of my small apps. But they will only store the data as long as the application is running.
After you've purchased the applications you fully own them, without limitation.
I know that this is a compromise - but I think it is a good one, much like DRM-free music. "
And I find his licensing and prices very fair:
"You purchase once and will get free updates as long as MOApp ist not dead. You can use MOApp Applications on any Mac you own. [...]
It is explicitly allowed:
· to translate and customize all MOApp Applications.
· to use MOApp Applications on any Mac you own.
· to transfer MOApp Applications if you do not use them any more.
It is explicitly not allowed:
· to share MOApp Applications you have paid for with others."
I would like to know, what do you think about this approach regarding the intense discussion about free- and shareware, independent developers and MacHeist, etc.?
I'm curious to hear from you![]()
Sounds like an advert from you and sounds like an annoying way of doing things. How would be ever keep track of things, or am I missing something?![]()
I think you're just missing something. The author is giving you rights to do whatever you want with the application that you want, including giving it to others without paying him. He's counting on the goodness in people's hearts. That's not confusing; it's refreshing.
That being said, the MacHeist bundle is weak. Give me apps (or utilities) that I can't get in freeware versions. An iTunes controller? There are at least 5 widgets that do the same thing.
Where are all the good Apps???
Besides Cha-Ching and iClip... there's nothing here really.
The price is nice if you want an app or two though.
p.s. I am waiting for the one that has Tech Tool Pro... I missed that one in the last heist and am still kicking myself.
