Full screen word processing is great, I do it using the very full featured word processor program called Mellel.

i understand that most of you guys on here are mac pros. but you must understand that there are a LOT of new mac users out there (hooray!) like me that have not ever used or seen macheist before. and also there are people out there that have just bought a 1000+ computer and dont even know that these type of applications are out there. so please, from the rest of us, kinda lay off the 'already got these apps before. boooring', etc. comments. we are all in this together, eh? thanks for hearin' me out....

Time to make good on the exchange rate - £25 for that isn't bad.

What is this MacUpdate bundle? When is it announced?

As the previous poster said, it shall be announced on April 16th, it will run until 29th. The advert they ran in MacWorld states that the apps bundled will be as follow:

Parallels, Sound Studio, Leap, StoryMill, MenuCalendarClock, Art Text, Typinator, DVDRemaster Pro, Hazel, BannerZest. Price: $64.99 Sounds like a much better bundle to me, its cheaper than Parallels alone. Too bad I already have Par. :(

Hm, how about something good and useful, like TextMate?

p.s.
I would also accept an absolutely rocking, spiffy Mac UI for the git version control system :)

You're kidding, right?

I'm not normally so negative and blunt ... but this bundle sounds like crap.

Sorry, I know it aids the financial backbone of MacRumors but surely they could team up with a far better quality commerical partner? I'm sure there's loads of Mac developers and publishers out there with unique, well designed and underrated software which beats the pants off of this $49 selection of freeware.

And as for it being "worth" $286.55. Haha! Sure it is darling, sure it is ...

If the marketing staff are listening: partner up with and showcase quality software that we WANT to buy. Buying this bundle to appease our consciences and help out MacRumors is the same as buying those godforsaken "charity" records. Eugh.

(Wow, never been so angry before. This article really brought out the worst in me ...)

DEVONthink's purpose is completely eluding me. I looked all over their website and for the life of me I can't figure out what it does or what its purpose is. It seems to be a place where you can collate files and preview them, but I already have something that does that, it's called the finder and the iLife apps.

What am I missing?

Wallet represents the single worst experience I've ever had with a developer of Mac software ever (and I bought my first Mac in 1984). I got up to 600+ entries and Wallet started eating my database (thankfully I had backups). I emailed Waterfall and it took 10 attempts in over two months to receive even an acknowledgement from them. I finally had to track down one of the owners' personal email addresses to get a response and received the prototypical "we've been really busy" response.

The issue is easy to replicate. I sent them the info they requested plus a video. Have not received a response since (almost another two months).

It's a nice product on the surface, but if it begins to eat your data, don't expect any support from the developer. Waterfall is a shamefully bad company.

Don't buy it on our account. If you want it, buy it. Otherwise, move on. If history is any guide, these bundles have been popular. Though, I certainly agree that anyone who has purchased a previous bundle will not be as interested in this one due to the repetition.

Congratulations, your marketing ploy worked Arn!

The point I'm trying to make is that, although the "charity" records are normally mediocre, the cause they're trying to promote / finance, isn't. That's why I'd rather give the money directly to the charity.

The same goes for this bundle. I think people who really want to help MacRumors should become a contributor or buy quality Apple hardware from the links on this site.

Speaking of which ... I have JUST become a contributor. There you go, I've put my money where my mouth is! £13.02 at the current exchange rate is what PayPal charged me and I think it was worth every penny. Best of all, I feel good about it. I was gonna wait till I got to 500 posts, but hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go!

I see now that Arn was using subtle marketing and reverse psychology on me and low and behold it has worked. Happy now Arn? And I bet you get more money directly from this than if I'd bought the software ... :D

UPDATE: Wow, that was quick. It already says I'm a "macrumors Demi-God" - Yeah baby!

This is an awesome bundle! I could probably use Parallels, Art Text, Typinator, DVDRemaster Pro and Hazel straight away!

I will definetely buy this!

As usual all everybody's first reaction is to moan! Stop thinking about yourselves just because you already have the apps from another bundle. This is still a great deal and think of all the first timers we have on the boards with the increase in marketshare.

It isn't always about you.

I really dislike the constant negativity on this forum. Stop doing it!

I quoted Arn's post because people should learn from it as a lesson to put forward an opinion without sounding like a spoiled brat.

I just dislike in general MacRumors association with the charlatans who run MacHeist. (And said so in the survey a while back).

The MacHeist promo's have caused problems in the past, and after last times multiple billing fiasco, and the horrific customer service, I'd be amazed if anyone wants to carry on giving these idiots money.

The fiasco of www.mydreamapp.com is the same guys. Everything they touch turns to crap.

I'm sad to see the association return on one of my favorite websites. :(

I am not against bundles or middlemen in general, but I do believe the end developer should get more than him. For example Apple's iPhone app distribution program where they give the developer 70%.

no coda or pixelmator :( sad

I would buy pixelmator right away if it had CMYK support and could import from a scanner.

If anybody had listened to a MacBreak podcast put out recently they interview some of the people behind these bundles and on their side everybody is happy with the results, the developers and the organisers.

the only usefull thing in there is xSlimmer, and I allready have that

the developers and the organisers.
... what about us, the customers, who you just so condescendingly called spoiled brats.

This MacHeist is just not up to par; let alone the fact that someone is charging any kind of money for writeroom, which, in my opinion, is ridiculous.

Coversutra is pretty awesome though.
