Online retailer MacMall has kicked off their 60 hour Black Friday sale just now. The sale runs until midnight on Friday. Traditionally, 3rd party retailers have offered better discounts than Apple once sales tax is taken into account. MacRumors is an affiliate partner of MacMall.

Their full sale list covers both new and previous generation products. We've pulled out some of the current-generation products of interest and their respective discounts:

Discounts on the MacBook Airs are most notable for a percentage of their total price. Also notable are the $150 discounts for 15" Retina MacBook Pros. MacMall also offers steeper discounts for previous generation machines.

When looking for the cheapest price, it's good to know which retailers charge sales tax automatically. MacMall charges sales tax in California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Tennessee, Minnesota, Georgia, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

MacMall also runs physical retail stores in Illinois (Chicago) and California (Santa Monica, Torrance, Huntington Beach) and are offering in-store deals at those locations.

We expect to see additional Black Friday sales at Apple's online store though that doesn't kick in until Black Friday itself. We will also cover other sales and discounts. Please send in any notable Apple-related sales.

I've been following the price on the 15" retina 2.3ghz, 16GB 512GB model for the past week. It was cheaper a few days ago at BB and BHPhoto for $2349, but is no longer on sale with that big of a discount.

Right now, the appleinsider01 promo code can be applied to the current model at macmall for $2422. Add on a cash back rebate of 3% at a place online for an end price of $2349. Although you will have to wait a few months to get that 3% back.
Edit: The macmall model with this discount only works on the model without the gfx card. So that's a not a good deal compared to the other BB/BHPhoto model that had the gfx card.

The question will be if the other retailers will beat macmall with their price or just match it.

Of all the Apple resellers, MacMall is hands down the WORST. I can't stomach even viewing their page. Dishonest as they come. B&H, BB, and even Amazon are WAY better choices, even priced a few dollars more.

I've been looking at the new tower Airport Extreme and MacMall has this listed for $178 with their sale. Amazon has quickly price matched to the same. I'll wait to see if anything happens to drop it even further on Black Friday, but I'm suspecting this will be as low as it goes.

my experience with macmall has been fine. And after you get the product its in apples hands because they are authorized. Just got a 128 cellular air for 860 and no tax! None are in stock, but you can still get the BF price on orders made today. Was told yesterday that the wait time is 2-3 weeks, so still good for xmas. Go get em! Don't wait in lines tomorrow and enjoy your holiday!!!

Just bought an iPad Air. No tax plus free shipping is good enough to keep me from going out tomorrow in the crowds looking for something better. Happy Thanksgiving!

My experience has also been fine with MacMall. Then again, the most expensive Apple product I have purchased there was an iPod Shuffle (yes, I needed one for the gym). I occasionally stop by MM to pick up things like iTunes gift cards, and maybe Apple-related cables and chargers.

They are an authorized Apple reseller, so that is a plus. It means that whatever Macs/iPads they sell you, or if they configure or repair it, will still be honored under the Apple warranties.

If the intention was to buy an Apple hardware, I would certainly trust MacMall over the sales-rep monkeys at Best Buy or Walmart, who likely will try to discourage you from buying an Apple product and will instead use deception sales tactics to steer you towards the Samsung isle.

Being authorized means nothing really. The warranties are by serial number and you can buy anywhere, including ebay, and get full warranties. Unless you buy a VERY old stock, Apple will never ask for a receipt. Macmall usually has a competitive price but they are the very slimy Apple reseller in my opinion. BHphoto is a fantastic option if you live outside NY.

Why does MacMall require you to call them to order an iPad Air? I have a credit card that's giving me 5% cashback for all online orders. Does it count as an online order if I have to call them to place the order?

I have tried both ipad air and ipad mini in the Apple store and really can't make up my mind. I like the larger screen of the air but love holding the mini in one hand. It looks like only the air is being discounted so that's what I'm getting!

In the 90s they were great, but they turned into one of these Brooklyn fell-off-the-truck dumps.

Even if the reseller you buy from dose not charge tax you are still obligated to report and pay tax on the items when you file your taxes.

I found the black Friday sales to be Amazing!! I found my Retina Macbook at an amazing price that I never even imagined! I'm happy.. yayy
