dosdude, should the patcher be all set to patch the final image at this point?

Thanks for all you have done! (and I hope that you continue to do so!)

Yes. 1127487414 is the universal bundle identifier for 'Install macOS Sierra.app'. The Mac App Store is very much web based like the iTunes Store so IDs are the same throughout. However you can only 'install' with the mas command if you already have it in your purchases. If you don't have it in your purchases already, you still have use a supported mac to 'purchase' it.

I have it showing in my purchases (since I had already downloaded on my iMac 2011), however it doesn't let me install on my macbook pro 2009 sayng it's already installed.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I was not aware of the fact that there are two different bundle identifiers.

So, are you saying that 1127487414 will not work in the Terminal, if a person still has the public beta installed, and that they must use 1073263501 instead, as in "mas install 1073263501"?

No, those just identify the two versions of Sierra that exist in the Store. If you use the Public Beta ID, you'll get the last public beta (not GM).

So then, barring any other problems, are you confirming that everyone should be using 1127487414 if they expect to get the final release?

Personally, I already have 16A323 from using the "mas install" command the other day. I am just trying to get some clarification for others here who may not have it downloaded yet.

While all of this is rather clear to some of you more advanced Apple gurus, for many of us, this can still be a bit confusing, or even quite confusing.

As I mentioned before, what I also find odd is the fact that, as occurred with others here, while the GM entry disappeared from the "Purchased" tab in the App Store app, I was still able to download the final release in the Terminal using "mas install". But the weirdest part is that while the final release was downloading, it never showed up on the "Purchased" tab. Furthermore, even after the download completed, it still didn't show up on the "Purchased" tab. In fact, I even shut down the App Store app and relaunched it, and it still doesn't show on the "Purchased" tab.

I do have Public Beta 7 listed on the "Updates" tab from August 31st -- not on the "Purchased" tab -- so I wonder if that is why "mas install" worked for me for the final release, even though nothing shows in the App Store app.

As I said, this stuff can be confusing for some of us. :)

Doesn't work for me, my work mate (2012er macbook pro) is downloading, now but I still get this message when running ./mas install 1127487414

So what problems could I face installing macOS Sierra on my Early 2008 iMac (8,1) and my late 2008 MacBook (Aluminum Unibody 5,1)? Would it be worthy? Both systems have maxed up RAM and SSDs. A piece of advice would be great...

The MacBook 5,1 will work perfectly, the iMac8,1 may have an incompatible WiFi card, and could produce the audio issue in which the audio works fine, but you can't change your system volume.

Yep, the patcher should work with the final release.

I am really resisting the urge to upgrade from 16A319 to 16A323, but I am weakening. :)

My plan all along has been to wait for 10.12.1, and then upgrade from 16A319.

Anyway, a few refreshers, if you will:

1. Being as I already have 16A319 installed on my iMac, once I make the 16A323 USB drive installer, I do NOT need to reformat my iMac's internal drive where I will be installing 16A323, correct? In other words, I do not need to do a clean install. I can just install 16A323 on top of 16A319, right?

2. If I can install 16A323 on top of 16A319 on my iMac's internal hard drive, will it result in my losing all of my personal files from my Home folder, my Applications folder and elsewhere, so that I will have to migrate everything again from my backup drive like the last time?

Or will personal files be preserved this time?

Point number two is the main reason why I have resisted upgrading from 16A319. It takes almost seven hours for me to migrate everything.

Thanks again for your hard work with all of this.

Installing 16A323 on top of 16A319 will cause no loss in data whatsoever, and should work perfectly fine. Just select the drive containing 16A319 in the installer, install, reboot, run post-install patch, reboot, and done.

If it was only WIFI it would be fine as I don't use it on my iMac and I only plug it via "ethernet"...so there's no workaround to change the volume in iMac 8,1...?? (sad) I wonder if my two macs will benefit from some sort of graphical "improvement" :(

Just delete the installer app from your applications folder, and it should let you re-download.

There's a chance you may not have the audio issue... One of my iMac8,1s does, and one doesn't, so who knows. I'd give it a try and see.

The MacBook 5,1 will work perfectly

Earlier in the thread a guy said his mid 2008 MBP webcam did not work after upgrading to Sierra when on page 1 of this thread it says only the wi-fi is suppose to not work on that model. I have a late 2008 MacBook 5,1 but want to ask is there possibilities of something going wrong like my webcam not working if i upgrade? Does "perfect" really mean 100% working everything tested like the mic, sound, webcam, ect.? Those things are crucial for my work

Thanks, my friend. See. Now I can blame you for melting all of my final resistance. :p

I guess I will give it a go.

From reading the previous comments, it sounds like you already updated your patch tool for the final release . . . which is really 16A323.

Or do I need to wait?

Hi, I am using Macbook Pro mid-2009(MBP 5,5) now.
I want to try to install macOS Sierra into my MBP, but I have some questions before doing that.

1. I want to download(purchase) macOS Sierra with other supported mac, but should I purchase(download) macOS Sierra after logging-in with my Apple ID because of later updates?

2. As I mentioned above, I am using MacBook Pro mid-2009(MBP 5,5 - 8GB ram and 256 SSD). Is there any problems or issue in my model in installing and updating?

3. After installing Sierra into the unsupported mac, is there any problem or issue concerning mac security?

I know that I should read the whole threads, but there are too many threads to read them.
I am waiting for your reply.
Thanks.

Ok! I'm gonna try and do it...Thank you very much for your dedication to this matter and work dosdude1, it's really awesome and we "the forgotten old macs users" appreciate it and thank you SO SO MUCH. Do you know if macOS Sierra gives some little tiny graphical improvement to this old models I own? Thank you very much for your patience again.

:):):)

DownloadSierra App

Here's a quick little app that uses the mas push technique. Just click OK and go.

1. You have to sign in to an Apple ID to download Sierra, it doesn't matter which you use.
2. The Mid-2009 MacBook Pro works with Sierra 100%, I own one and have verified this.
3. There's no security issues as far as I can tell.

The tool is updated and should work fine with the final release.

Can you try the DownloadSierra utility? I just added a function to forcefully download the package if it already exists.
