Guys, with Sierra update, apple announced common buffer for mac and ios. After updating my 5.1 macbook, I can not get this feature to work with my iphone 6 on ios10. Is it just me or everyone else have the same thing?

P.S. also I cant pair the two via bluetooth
Ok, I found answer to my own question. It appears, that this feature uses bluetooth connection, and the bluetooth module in macbook 5.1 late 2008, is old and does not support this feature as well as the airdrop.

Should I replace bluetooth?))) Is it possible?)

I tried replacing the file, restart Sierra but it doesn't work. Same "No video capture devices were found". What more can I do to solve this issue?
I'm on mid 2009 MacBook Pro 5,3 and video has always worked. Regularly checked in photo booth and system profiler. Do we have the same system?

Delete /System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel to recreate kernel cache
Deleted the file and restarted Sierra but same thing, no camera working (System Report showing "No video capture devices were found"). Another idea?

Ps: Why before restart Sierra for the first time the camera was showing in System Report? (when I opened FaceTime the screen was all black – before restart for the first time–, now –after the first restart– FaceTime says "no camera available")

Thank you dosdude1.

I am now running macOS Sierra 10.12 on my Early 2008 17" MacBook Pro 4,1.

I have 6GB of DDR2 RAM and before this update replaced my OEM Hard Drive with a 1TB SSD and my OEM Apple WiFi Card with a QuickerTek mCard 3.

Thus far I have had no issues with WiFi, bluetooth connectivity, camera or the trackpad.

The keyboard is not illuminating despite the ambient light sensor patch BUT I download Lab Tick and that now controls my keyboard lighting. http://labtick.proculo.de/

I found your website and your YourTube very helpful and followed your instructions.

Works Great! Thanks again.

We have the same system and my video always worked, never had to swap USB video kexts before.

Do your systems restart/reboot correctly a least ?

Have you tried ...

Code:
sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
sudo kextcache -system-caches

I'm on a 5,3 and it's the same for me too, the camera isn't recognized for me either..
In System Report (USB section) appears. Is it showing in your MBP as well? This "0x05ac" was showing when I tried Hangouts (and before restart Sierra for the first time)

Webcam works perfectly fine on my MacBookPro5,3.

No way i am going to pay those money for a wifi card, it's too expensive ! Sorry need to find a cheaper alternative !
Get a Broadcom BCM4322.

So I installed macOS 10.12 on my two old (but perfectly capablee) macs. On my Late 2008 MacBook Unibody works like a dream come true (8GB RAM and SSD) also the same for my early 2008 iMac (6GB RAM and SSD - NO WIFI JUST ETHERHET) IMHO I think it works like OS X El Capitán should have run. Dosdude1 we thank you very much for this awesome work and now I have two questions: Are we going to need patching macOS every time it gets a future upgrade? How about for future security updates? THANK YOU.

Please, help me, I installed Mac OS Sierra with the macOS Sierra Patcher on my Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2009. Installation and upgrade was ok, but my camera (iSight) is not working! (BTW during patching I needed to click in "force cache.."). Here it is a screenshot when trying to use iSight camera with Hangouts

I'm on a MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid 2009 and my iSight camera works.

@Czo @aquaticflow

Yup, my usb 2.0/Built-in Sight looks exactly the same.
More important : snap your Software/Extensions/Apple_iSight also.
My snaps are attached below...

@dosdude1 When Sierra installation was complete and log screen appears, keyboard and trackpad were not working. I need to reboot again and choose "force cache..." option in Post Install. A message shows up "It appears cache rebuild has been forced. It may be necessary to run "sudo kextcache -sytem-prelinked-kernel" in Terminal once you boot into Sierra". After that, trackpad and keyboard were working perfectly. Ok, logged in and open Terminal and type "sudo kext...", then tried open FaceTime, but the screen was all black, no video. Tried Hangouts but same thing – but in Hangouts video preferences was showing "Built-in iSight (05ac:8507)". So I thought it could solve restarting Sierra. Now FaceTime, Photo booth and Hangouts are showing "no camera available". On El Capitan I was using the webcam daily. I'm not the only one with this issue

Does anyone know the identifier for the macOS Sierra 10.12.1 dev beta 1?

While I don't intend to install it, I am curious to see if Apple will let me download it on an unsupported machine using the mas-cli method.

Thanks.

Have you tried resetting the Mac's NVRAM?

The 10.12.1 update only exists as a Software Update delta (Update ID: 031-82179) that can be installed on any recent version of Sierra. 10.12.1 will most likely be integrated into the "Install macOS Sierra" package in the App Store once it goes out of beta.

I did it and now System Report (Camera section) is showing something, but iSight it doesnt working yet. FaceTime is not showing "no camera available" anymore, but screen is all black:

Yes, I realize that. I just wanted to see if it is possible to circumvent Apple's machine check for delta downloads on unsupported machines using the mas-cli method, just as I could do with the Sierra GMs. :)

mas-cli only deals with StoreFoundation, which is what the Mac App Store uses to license and distribute Application Bundles. On the other hand, SoftwareUpdate is an older and completely different daemon and process which uses similar but inherently different packages, which is where the delta comes in.

They both are in use in the Mac App Store frontend, which can lead to confusion.

Just wanted to thank dosdude1. U just give my imac one more year life. everything works perfect. i use my computer for simple things so dont need powerful machine. funny thing is that i noticed Sierra works better than Capitan on my machine but hey its not officially supported right? come on Apple. Its like the only reason for all this is because u want to force ppl to buy new macs smh
