What can we expect for longtime support within upcoming updates including security fixes? Will we possible to use directly from app store? Will we need 3rd party tools like dodudes tools for DP patches?
You'll need to use my Software Update Patch tool most likely.

Guys, with Sierra update, apple announced common buffer for mac and ios. After updating my 5.1 macbook, I can not get this feature to work with my iphone 6 on ios10. Is it just me or everyone else have the same thing?

P.S. also I cant pair the two via bluetooth

Hi,

I could dowload MasOS Sierra thanks to this software and the "Reboot to Authorize" function.

However, now my iMac is always booting using Clover and I'd like to uninstall this bootloader.

Could you help me to do so ?

Regards.

There is no "uninstallation" as the bundle is self-contained, you simply restart using the Startup Disk pane in System Preferences to clear the flags.

Please, help me, I installed Mac OS Sierra with the macOS Sierra Patcher on my Macbook Pro 15" Mid 2009. Installation and upgrade was ok, but my camera (iSight) is not working! (BTW during patching I needed to click in "force cache.."). Here it is a screenshot when trying to use iSight camera with Hangouts

Maybe you have some hw failure? What you see in system profiler? Photobooth? If you boot it to El Capitan, it works?

Question:

Ever since Apple silently removed the GM entry from the "Purchased" tab in the App Store app -- this apparently occurred right before they released the final version -- macOS Sierra has not been listed when I use the "mas list" command with the CLI version of MAS.

I just unhid the "macOS Sierra Public Beta" -- from July 21, 2016 -- entry on my "Purchased" tab, hoping that it would help, but it didn't.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get Sierra listed again in the Terminal when I use the "mas list" command?

BTW, as I mentioned before, even though Sierra no longer appears in the list in the Terminal, if I use the "mas install 1127487414" command, it will still download the latest version . . . although I doubt that it will work with the current 10.12.1 dev beta.

PS: Yes, I know that I can use the new option in dosdude1's patch tool to download the latest build from Apple via the App Store app, but it is nice to have an alternative method/backup plan for when things go wrong. :)

Update: Ha! I just figured out that if I place the 16A323 installer back into my "Applications" folder -- instead of in my installers backup folder -- Sierra again appears when I use "mas list". I didn't realize that is how the "mas list" command works. I assumed that it has some built-in catalog somewhere.

I don't like to keep installers in the "Applications" folder, because we all know how Apple likes to "magically" zap OS installers once you use them. This now forces me to keep two copies of the installer, if I want to keep using the "mas list" command.

Huh, I also have a Mid 2009 15" Macbook Pro, and I don't usually use the isight camera on my computer, but I just checked, and same for me, my camera is not detected either. As far as I can tell though, that's the only issue post sierra install..

Camera was working well with El Capitan! I tried restarting Mac OS Sierra and now in System Profiler doesnt show anything in camera section! Before restart it the camera appears in camera section. How can I fix this? Everything is working great, just the camera is not working

Yeah, system profiler says: "No video capture devices were found." to me too.. I'm not super affected by this, but if it gets figured out at some point, it would be cool. I did select every item to patch post install in case that makes any difference...

OK. If Camera worked well in Sierra Developer Preview 1 (not Public Beta 1) try to replace the usb video camera kext to version found in DP1 or maybe a version found in El Capitan. You can find it in '/System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBVideoSupport.kext'.

But before restart Sierra, the iSight camera appears in camera section! (Hangouts screenshot – before restart– proves that). There must be a way to fix this issue. @dosdude1 can you please help with this?

Not sure if it worked in the Dev Preview or not, since I didn't ever run that, and when I did run one of the Public beta's, I had never checked, but this is good info, I will try it out! Thanks!

How can I get an AppleUSBVideoSupport.kext version from El Cap? I dont have any ISO or something. Wait, that means I need to download a copy of El Cap, install it again so I can get that AppleUSBVideoSupport.kext?

I have a backup of el capitan at home that I made right before installing sierra that I can probably post that kext somewhere later tonight when I get home...

All installed ok on my iMac 9,1 Early 09 iMac users be aware the installer will silent reboot when finished, use a wired keyboard and use option or the alt key on a PC keyboard to select the USB key again and do the post install patching. Do not let the machine try to reboot to your boot drive without doing this or your PRAM will be borked and the machine will become unbootable and your have to reset it before doing the post install patches.

I have an iMac 9,1 (24/3.06/Rad4850/SSD) and I got hit with the silent reboot. I left the room when it said "9 minutes remaining" and came back 5 minutes later only to find the machine had rebooted. I just reset and booted into the installer and ran the Post-install and had zero problems. No PRAM intervention required. All is running smoothly, save for the cursor acting sometimes like it's a been shaken (Logitech mouse with SteerMouse Beta might be causing that). The CPU is also getting pegged as photoanalysisd slowly crawls through 75,000 photos, but that'll resolve in a few days.

So far it's running smoothly, and dare I say faster than El Capitan.

Thank you, man, I would appreciate it so much.
I don't know if it'll help (but if it does, I'll add this as a post-install fix), but here's the AppleUSBVideoSupport.kext from El Capitan.

No prob! Also, I want to see if it works for you, and if it's all good, I will probably do the same! I'm just wondering if when updates come out further down the road, will it be overwritten by new versions of macOS, ya know? Maybe dosdude should add it to the patcher?... I'm sure he'd know.

Yeah, same for me– mine had shutdown. I rebooted using the patched installer usb, I got a crossed out circle, panicked slightly, unplugged everything (including the power cord) waited a minute, plugged in just the installer drive again, and it then successfully booted, where I was then able to patch it.

I tried replacing the file, restart Sierra but it doesn't work. Same "No video capture devices were found". What more can I do to solve this issue?
