Hey Guys,

MP 3.1 Here.
Managed to get Sierra installed correctly using the patch tool, but it never showed a menu bar in the installer for me.
Modified the PlatformSupport.plist via Target Disk Mode and can boot in. Still trying to run the post install part of the patch though, since I can't boot into my recovery partition, and would like to modify the Boot.plist too. But again, no menu bar on my 3.1 in the installer.

I loaded the patched installer on a supported laptop and the menu bar shows up just fine. I can load the post install patch, but it doesn't seem to function properly if I select the 3.1s drive via Target Disk Mode.

Any ideas why I can't get the menu bar to appear on my 3.1?
Any other workarounds?

Couldn't find anything in this huge thread.

EDIT:

So I've read that it's hit or miss with the Menu Bar. It's been all miss for me on the 3.1
Regardless, it looks like the patch MAY have worked via target disk mode.

I found LegacyUSBInjector.kext in my /Library/Extensions folder which I did not manually place.
Additionally, /System/Library/CoreServices/PlatformSupport.plist is different than the version I copied over manually, which only contained Board IDs. This new version has both IDs and Model Identifiers.

However PlatformSupport.plist on my Recovery HD did not seem to get the update. I'm going to copy the System version over and see if this solves my problems.

I guess I'll need to dig back through this thread to see what the Boot.plist option on the patch actually does. From the little I found, it seemed to be a better bet than just modifying PlatformSupport.plist.

[doublepost=1479248284][/doublepost]I just applied the patch to run Sierra on my Mac Pro 3.1 . . . shame on Apple for "forcing" incompatibility and also not delivering an updated desktop line. Sierra works perfectly on my Mac Pro 3.1 . . running the patch was a piece of cake!

25th (guessing) times that charm I guess.
Rebuilt the USB again, and finally got it to load the menu bar on the 3.1

All up and running, no problems.
Thanks everyone!

I have now a problem with the update for Sierra 10.12.2 Beta 3 .. just does not come with AUSenabler.app.
Is it the same with you? Or do you get the update 10.12.2 beta 3 from 14.11.16?

@Pinarek: I (MBP5,5) also do not "see" this update.

Just checked: Now, 1 minute after my post it is there. So Tim Cook is also following this thread :)

Hello virk from Aachen .. Thanks for your info ... now, so today on 16.11.16 the beta3 of
Sierra 10.12.2 also arrived here in Magdeburg :)

I do not understand why the Macmini 3.1 takes so long. With my 2 Hackintosh's it comes
immediately after appear in the Appstore.

I thought already that which have changed, at the update procedure or so.

Imagine I connect to my MBP:
- at 1st USB port the USB-stick with patched Sierra (dosdude-stick)
- at 2nd USB port a hard disc from a Mac, on which Sierra runs natively; so just a "valid"-Sierra version.
Then I start my Macbook 5,5 from USB 1 and try to postinstall the Sierra-system of USB 2 and then I want to start from USB2.
Will that work? ...or in other words: Is is sufficient to just postinstall any valid Sierra copy?

Yes, that will work just fine.

@dosdude1: Oh, thanks! That was fast. Then let me continue:) If I then have patched the version of USB2, can I revert somehow, so that this harddisc can further be used for the machine it came from?
...in other words; can I undo this patching of Sierra somehow?

You could undo it, but you'd have to know exactly what files were modified, and make sure to back them up before running the patch. I can tell you exactly what changes, but I wouldn't really recommend doing what you're doing in the first place. Just keep each machine's install separate.

Hi

I installed Sierra on my MacBook Pro early 2008 (4.1) which is supposed to fully work except for the wifi. However, I am having an issue with the trackpad and the 2 finger click for right click. It just doesn't work.

All other gestures seem fine and if I turn on single click then 2 finger tap on the trackpad works but the 2 finger click will just not work.

Does anybody know why ?

Thanks

Do the 3 finger gestures work?

if i use this AUS updater then update it will be all fine or i will be have to start installer again and fix USB ports to have keyboard and muse again?

Why is that? Will that not make the installation vulnerable to attacks?
It's because some of the kexts used for the patch aren't signed, and will therefore be excluded from prelinkedkernel when SIP is disabled (and will not load). SIP does nothing more than lock down the system files, it does not increase your system's ability to prevent attacks whatsoever (not that it's easy to get an attack in the first place; it's not, and rarely if ever happens).

So I've completed steps 1-7. But, like others, I don't have "Utilities" in my menu bar. So I can't choose the "Post-install" program after rebooting from the USB.

Is there some other way to accomplish step 8? Can I do this by booting from an old recovery volume?

Previously updated MacbookPro using the tools, in process of doing iMac 2009, unfortunately trackpad wasn't recognised so had to learn (Google) how to access menu using keyboards to run post install patch.

Have just managed it and I am watching it boot into Sierra as I type.

For anyone else who swapped out the standard issue mouse for a trackpad the keys you need are:

CTRL+ Fn+F1 - Allow keyboard functions
CTRL + Fn + F2 - Shift focus to menu bar
CTRL + Fn + F4 - Shift focus to active window

It's taking a while to boot.....fingers crossed it works and then I'll be sticking some SSD goodness inside the iMac.

So I've completed steps 1-7. But, like others, I don't have "Utilities" in my menu bar. So I can't choose the "Post-install" program after rebooting from the USB.

Okay, so now I see step 8 has an asterisk with this note: "If you are unable to access items in the Menu Bar (and see "Language Chooser" as the only option), simply press Command + Q on your keyboard, click cancel, and the menu bar items should appear."

I tried this, and it almost worked. The menu bar did re-appear, but I wasn't able to click any of the items. So I used the keyboard shortcuts norfolkfella mentioned to navigate the menu bar.

So, my Mac Pro is now up and running Sierra! Overall things look good.

The only problem I've run into is that I mouse left-handed, and the system seems to be ignoring my preference to set the Right button as the Primary Mouse Button.

**UPDATE**: Mouse problem was a Logitech thing. I updated to their newest driver for Sierra, and now I can fix the mouse buttons.

There is two build in 10.12.1 update.
I download manually latest 10.12.1 update and when I try update it says "system is not supported"??

I try to run Touché:
"To run Touché, you must be running macOS 10.12.1 (16B2657) or greater. Apple released two versions of 10.12.1, and you are running the earlier one."

How I can update that manually??

First off, I have tried the search feature in this thread, but didn’t find a solution, so here’s my Q:
I used the "AUSEnabler" to update my MacBook Pro Late 2009 to 10.12.1 and now my mouse and keyboard don’t work. Making things worse, during the first (10.12) installation I didn’t select ‘Recovery Partition Patch’ so now I can’t get into recovery mode to switch of SIP. Am I screwed? Or is there still hope? Thanks in advance!!! :)
