You can't update from a beta to a final release, you must re-install using a release version.
sorry I think I stated that wrong... I was on 10.12.1 beta 5 -- It was updated to the beta 5 after the final release, but still no updates are showing. Does that mean I still have to re-install the whole thing?

im in the process of upgrading my 20"2007 iMac 7,1 right now with full handoff and continuity support. I have all the parts except the T9300 cpu. Which should be here in a couple days!!!

You have always been able to update from beta to final release. I do it every time on my hackintosh and iMac

Hi Everyone!
I've a Mac Mini Late 2009 A1283, upgraded with ssd 128Gb and 8Gb Ram.
I want to upgrade to Sierra OS from El Capitan, the only obstacle is the unsupported Airport Card Broadcom 4321.

My question is:
Can i upgrade my Airport Card Broadcom 4321 with this (MacBook 7,1 Airport Card Broadcom 43224) that is full compatible?

Thank in advance for your help.

Yep, back in https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ed-macs-thread.1977128/page-138#post-23758832
dosdude1 confirmed that's the only card that will work as a replacement in the '09 Mini.

That will get you a fully functional wifi stack, but the card still only has bluetooth 2.1, so limited continuity features will be available.

Edit: Also, as the screw holes don't align perfectly, you may want to take an old credit card or similarly sized piece of plastic and make a bracket that you can have line up with the holes on the sysbrd and then screw your new card into, so it's mounted securely.

Hi Guys, I have bought a Mac Pro 3.1 off Ebay and its running Mavericks, I want to upgrade to at least El Capitan, but I think the video card needs upgrading, at the moment its a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT 512MB, have any of you any suggestions for an upgrade card?

Thanks in anticipation

Perfect @fischersd All clear!
Is it Possible to update from El Capitan with the modified Sierra OS Installer without make a new zero installation?

The latest versions of OS X/macOS (including Sierra) support that card just fine, so you don't really need an upgrade. If you do want an upgrade, though, I'd recommend an ATI Radeon HD 5770 or 5870, as they can be flashed to get a boot screen on Mac Pros. You could also install better cards (there are some that can be flashed as well), but I use a 5870 as my main card and have had no complaints about it.

Yes, you can do an in-place upgrade to your existing El Capitan installation (as always, make sure you do a backup / clone of your install first in case something goes sideways during the install). Yes, you need to use dosdude1's patched usb installer.

Has anyone else noticed that as of the 10.12.3 beta3 seed, the App Store no longer presents the seeding updates on the deprecated hardware running Serra? I see this behavior using ASUS Enabler's seed setting as well as the Apple beta seeding profiles.

I finally puzzled out the origin of the problem. It appears the the ASUS seed catalog hasn't been kept current and is stuck back at the 10.12.3 Beta 2 seed level instead of at the current 10.12.3 Beta 4 level.

Grab the latest version of dosdude1's patcher - boot from it and run the post install - when you hit the drop-down for iMac 8,1, you'll see that Volume Control Patch is already selected. (you can clear the other items - presumably your system's already patched)

Great! Thank you for your help.

I so agree with what you wrote here: I feel left out now that I cannot upgrade. I don't really want a new machine.. I want to keep up with what I have. I am supporting the new fix it law that if passes will insist that parts and software, etc. be available for older machines. I have upgrades some things on my macbook Pro mid 2009.

All in all, Apple is basically screwing us over by - yet again - taking capable machines and tossing them aside. This time, they've done worse by making machines, whose GPUs are identical to those of supported machines, unsupported for Sierra. Good thing that we won't take kindly to this. Give praise to those who will soon be working on solutions to get our favorite machines up and running again.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the info, I have been able to lay my hands on a ATI Radeon 5870, now how do I flash it please ?

Hi all,

I had a perfectly working iMac 8,1 (early 2008) with a newer version WiFi card under 10.12.1.
I upgraded to 10.12.2 with AUSEnabler activated, but now my audio is gone weird. The controls on the keyboard 'seem' to work, because I get a feedback on the screen, but they actually don't do anytime. The audio is really loud en cracks.

What would be the best way to fix this? Is it possible to overwrite the existing audio kext or something? Or do I have to make a new USB installer with patcher version 4.2.2?

Thanks!

Can you give me a link to the wifi card you used?

Is there a workaround?

Glad you and many others agree! Luckily, your machine can receive the Sierra patch, if you wish to update to Sierra. Dosdude1 (a savior) made a patch which allows most unsupported 2008/2009 Macs to be upgraded to Sierra. This patch is aasy to find online (on sites like YouTube, this site, etc.).

Just follow the guide here: http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,692.0.html It can be kinda tricky, but just make sure you follow the guide very closely and you'll be fine. I followed this same method to flash my 5870, and had great success.

Thanks dosdude1, I took a look at it and bookmarked it for reference on my MacBook Pro, but it seems daunting to me, as you said I have to follow it closely.

I have an early 2008 iMac
ok we use the same wifi and Bluetooth cards (actually the BT card may be a little different but that doesn't matter). Also, I had to remove the old BT card in order for the iMac to recognize the new one on the combo card.

This is what I had to buy:
BCM943602CS or BCM94360CSAX- $18
a compatible M.2 (NGFF) to mini PCIe adapter (also named as BCM94360CD to mini PCIe adapter)-$6
3x U.FL female to MHF4 male plug antenna adapter cable-$3 (each) You need these antenna adapters because the antenna terminals on the new card are smaller than the old card so you have to adapt all 3 antenna wires down to the correct size.
And the correct antenna position on the new card would be
  • white or gray cable (topmost connector) J0
  • black cable (middle connector) J1
  • blue cable (lowermost connector) J2
Lucky for you is that I don't think you need to upgrade your cpu to install macOS. But if you do for some reason, I have a E8135 that would support macOS I could send you. I bought it on eBay cheap but it won't work in 2007 iMac because it has 1066 FSB and 7,1 iMac only supports 800

I already checked and my processor is compatible, can you send me links to all of those items and some more detailed instructions on how to install it using the adapters and everything?
