Can someone make a video recording of the new drag and drop, please?

Maybe can I see that in a WWDC video session on Apple site?

I mean, look at my avatar.. Yes, that's me

They mentioned something related to "raster order groups" that is only supported by the upcoming AMD Vega and (curiously) recent AX chips.
Could you clarify where AMD's current 5xx series cards stand?
Would they not be considered to support the full Metal 2 feature set then?

All GPUs that support Metal 1.x on the Mac support the full Metal 2 specs. But they have different capabilities when it comes to "argument buffer" for instance. There are two "tiers" of GPUs there. I think they said in a session that all Mac discrete GPUs are tier 2 and all AX GPUs are tier one. Some intel GPUs may also be tier 1, but I don't remember precisely.

System Preferences are now saved to iCloud:

Does this mean I don't have to reset all my trackpad gestures, scrolling speed, dock setting, etc. every time I reinstall an OS? THANK YOU APPLE!

Edit: Oh, and are the setting synced between all Macs or just individual Macs? I hope it's the former.

Maybe it's just me, but I miss the whole space theme, with time machine, and all

Same. I haven't like any of the default wallpapers since Mavericks, but the Space wallpapers were the best.

Firewall setting has issues with Screen share... if u allow "screensharingd" "Allow incoming connections" is not saved on reboot. Also stuffs up other partitions firewall settings as well.. so u can no longer remote share to "it" either

For now, i keep them both "off"so i can still screen share from Finder. Perhaps this is why a dual partition setup is not a good idea.

folder is hidden if folder has special characters for example: /

Is there a way I can submit feedback though website, as i've tried the feedback assistant 4 times already and in all occasions errors.

Yes. Basically, your Time Capsule itself cannot be converted to APFS just yet, but your Mac can. In other words, your Time Machine backup data cannot be stored on an APFS volume at this time.

Does APFS break Time Machine?

From the developer docs, it seems that APFS doesn’t support Time Machine, so your Time Machine volume must remain HFS+ for now. You can back up your data from an APFS disk to an HFS+ Time Machine though.

Time Machine has been on Preparing Backup for me for 45 minutes now. The first time I tried a backup it was stuck on Looking For Backup disk. Then did it again now the Preparing Backup problem. I can't seem to get Time Machine working at all.

It seems like with APFS, the backups DO NOT work. It is unable to create the folder on the Time Capsule disk. Using the 2TB Apple Airport Time Capsule personally, since upgrading to 10.13, unable to backup anything. Luckily the iCloud backup/sync is still working, so at least I have that.

I would assume Apple is going to release an update for the Airport/Time Capsule (hopefully) to make it compatible, or update the file system on the Airport/Time Capsule to APFS, which would be even better!

For now, I would just get a cheap external drive and backup there, since you can customize the disk format to be APFS on external disks.

Do not convert your Time Machine or Time Capsule to APFS. It isn't supported. I was able to get my Time Machine working by removing it and re-adding it. It took about 45 minutes the first time stuck on preparing for Backup but eventually it went. Apple says to keep TM/TC in HFS+.

This might seem like a small, almost insignificant thing, but I'm not a fan of the current (Sierra and OSX in general) implementation of labelling files/folders, where a colored dot/symbol is put next to the item, or the name of the item gets a colored background.

I really hope they go back to how it used to be in OS9 days where the actual icon gets updated with a new color (which was like a filter/overlay). It was much easier to notice/see a labeled folder in OS9, for me anyway.

Cheers

As for MacBook Pro 2016 non-touch bar
Animations are smother on:
- Mission control
- Zooming windows (although I still get stutters in some apps such as FontBook)
- Opening preferences panes in System Preferences

Animations are jerky in:
- iTunes album view

kernel_task using roughly 830 MB of memory. Is that a lot?

Someone knows why?

Mail:
If you are using an application in fullscreen mode and receive a mail notification, clicking that notification opens the mail in split view mode next to the app you are using. Previously that would open the mail in normal window which would force a switch to a desktop away from the app you are using.
