That situation really sucks. No statement from Apple or follow up by Pioneer until now?

It's been confirmed also by Pioneer. The headline article at the start of this thread could be revised.

"We have confirmed that our drives are not recognized by macOS Ventura 13.2 released by Apple on January 23. We have confirmed that the above symptoms do not occur in macOS Ventura 13.2.1 released on February 13. Customers experiencing the above symptoms on macOS Ventura 13.2 should update to macOS Ventura 13.2.1 or later."

M1 Mac mini with iOS 13.2.1 and Pioneer BDC-207 and it doesn't want to recognize the drive. The eject icons and keyboard keys work, but the drive doesn't show up in finder or desktop, and yes, I have those settings turned on. Load media (trying to install software, and it doesn't trigger anything to start when loading the disk).

Still fails for me with 13.2.1

> malicious attempt by Apple to get rid of physical media
Why would they want to do that at this point? Preventing piracy?
I think you took my post out of context. I said some would look at this as a malicious attempt to get rid of physical media, but this would be unlikely.

I haven't used my Panasonic DVD drive in a while but wanted to today. I'm on OS 13.6. DVD disc spins up but neither the disc nor drive shows up on my M2 mini.
Can anyone suggest a replacement DVD drive?

I have a Panasonic (I believe—I can’t check right now) LightScribe drive. When it is connected, the movement of my cursor is very jerky. It makes it very hard to operate the GUI. I have not tried it since updating my M1 MacBook Pro to Sequoia, because I was able to get one of those standalone Apple DVD drives. That one works fine.

Are you using a Bluetooth mouse?

A USB 3.0 LightScribe drive can throw off spurious emissions which mess up Bluetooth.

Sounds like a janky driver
