macOS 14 Sonoma on Unsupported Macs Thread

Based on a tweet from Mr. Macintosh it sounds like all the major updates require M Series Macs, so if that's the case, why bother with intel, when all the features people might want require a different platform.

As far as I understood, AI is available on machines using M1+. Prior to those without AI.

That's what I meant though, wasn't the main reason to upgrade to 15 for the AI features, I don't watch the keynotes anymore, but that was my whole understanding of the main set of features coming to the updates this year. So, I was simply curious, as to if the the main features aren't available on older macs, what reason would people have to upgrade, especially those on unsupported machines.
 
By now we know that macOS 15 will support the same Macs as macOS 14 Sonoma. 😀
Intel Macs, however, will not have some features that will be exclusive to Macs from M1 onward.

Why install macOS Sequoia on our unsupported Macs, then, if OCLP will allow us to continue to do so?
- Perhaps to have a further improved interface.... Of course! 😉
- To see that the Finder, which already flies with Sonoma, maybe be faster than light thanks to increasingly optimized code from AI-enhanced development and debugging tools? I would say yes, yikes! 😉
- Do you have an improved Mail.app?... Yah! 😉
- To manage the iPhone directly from the Mac? Certainly! 😉
- To use a more modern Safari?... Oh Yes! 😉
- To improve Spotlight, Siri, System settings and so on? Absolutely yes! 😉
- Et cetera, et cetera 😉

I look forward to the time when we will know whether OCLP 1.6.0 Nightly can work well as early as the first Sequoia Beta and for some user to post screenshots of the next working version.

That's the late 2012? I'd be careful with that. The developer page indicates the current beta is only available for Apple Silicon at the moment.

Use at least a different volume or external drive instead installing on top of the working system to be on the safe side. Unless you are a true hero of course. 😉

Not a hero, just dumb, my "Apple Intelligence" is rather low. I have Catalina on a separate disc. Downloading just finished preparing says 35 minutes.

Imac 27, 13.2 1,5,0/Sequoia. The fastest update I have experienced, although the main screen is still white I am using Firefox for this post.

This post was a mistake when it restarted after downloading it is still on Sonoma, white desktop

post 6673 is wrong it did not work.

I will try something and then perhaps be more specific I am still on Sonoma White desktop, patcher froze, I reset pram, and will download 1.6 and see what happens.

1.6 install then patching has things back to normal, there was a macos install efi on the start up page for a while which is now gone. I still have the notice that an update to Sequoia is avaliable, but I will wait awhile.

It´s very easy to reconstruct the ROM. Talk with @tsialex I have backups and mattecards for two Mac Pros 5,1

Some weeks ago, it failed my ROM in one of them. I inserted my Matte Card and continued working in seconds.
