I have the same MBA, stock 1.7Ghz, 8G RAM. Would just need Monty 12.7.6.
Any issues or experiences to expect?

Hard to say. For the most part we've got the same hardware, but I replaced the stock AHCI drive with an NVMe SSD and adapter, and I may have software installed that affects OCLP stability. I've run Sonoma for about a year, and at first I had kernel panic freezes every day or two. As of now, with 14.7.1 and OCLP 2.1, those are far less frequent. I'm satisfied with the performance on the main MBA. I have another MBA, as you can see in my sig, that's on Sequoia. It's a simpler setup for a machine I use as a backup and as a testing device. I've had no issues with it, but I'd rather not press my luck with the main laptop, so I'm sticking with Sonoma for a few more Sequoia updates before upgrading. On the whole, if I were you and reading this, I'd be cautiously optimistic about installing Sonoma, particularly if everything on your MBA is stock and you don't have exotic software installed that might trigger hard crashes.

It's the SK Hynix P31 Gold 1TB. With multiple macOS installations (Big Sur, which is the last macOS that's native on the 6,2 MBA, and Sonoma via OCLP) I was running low on free storage space, so I took the 512GB AHCI from the i7 and moved it to the i5 (it had a 256GB stock drive), and I put the Hynix P31 in the i7 MBA. It's a very straightforward swap, requiring only a short Sintech adapter for the NVMe SSD. There's a lot on the topic of NVMe SSD substitutions on this long thread.

This is something that is probably rarely encountered, since most OCLP users tend to use the latest OCLP, so I'm posting this in case it helps someone...

I had been applying post-install patches for Sonoma on my MBP6,2 with OCLP 1.4.3 up until macOS version 14.7.1 with Safari 17.6. After upgrading Safari to version 18.1.1, application of post-install patches to Sonoma 14.7.1 with OCLP 1.4.3 no longer worked (resulted in corrupt Sonoma volume). I was able to recover the Sonoma volume by booting Recovery and using 'bless ...' but the situation was definitely not ideal.

No surprise, but using OCLP 2.1.2 to apply post-install patches has resolved my patching issue (my fault, since I was still using an old version of OCLP). Well done, Devs!

Updated my 2017 i7 MBP 15" to Sonoma 15.1.1 with OCLP. The install was easy. The MBP is running like a champ.

Youtube will most likely be fine.. I'm wondering about Apple purchased movies or maybe Xfinity Stream, or perhaps any other HDCP content. On my 2012 MBP-OCLP/Sonoma all that works fine. On my 2015 MBP-OCLP/Sonoma, it does not.

Xfinity Stream should work with Firefox and maybe other browsers that are not Safari.

Yes, I believe we've discussed this before.. I'm still just looking to correlate model issues regarding HDCP playback. This 2012 MBP on Sonoma does play HDCP Apple purchased movies just fine with attached monitor. It will also play Xfinity content using Firefox. As previously stated, with my 2015 MBP on OCLP/Sonoma, no Apple purchased HDCP content works with external monitor attached at all, nor Xfinity with any combination of browser even without external monitor attached. Still no contact from Dortania. It's pretty disappointing I can get better use of the 2012 on Sonoma than the 2015 which is lighter and faster. Stuck on Monterey still...

Does Sonoma still receives a treatment by OCLP? It lists multiple issues with Kepler graphics (which my MPB mid 2012 has), and I wonder if Sonoma will ever be as stable as Ventura (these issues state "downgrade to Ventura" as a fix)

I'm asking because I've been having the problem in Sonoma for some time that the retrieval no longer works reliably. Sequoia is constantly offered to me there, but the updates for Sonoma only appear there after repeated retrieval, extremely delayed or not at all.

I now update and install regularly via the terminal, which fortunately works perfectly. What can I do if there is a problem as described?

When you install as described, how does OCLP then interact to ensure other necessary routines, such as KDK, are downloaded?
