OCLP now downloads a new KDK (24F74) when the 15.5 RC is updating OTA.

This 2.4n/24F74 OTA went quickly and smoothly. Most of all I am happy to report that the problem I had with mail not displaying messages is now fixed, and back to normal.

Thanks Devs for the new KDK.

After I installed Sequoia, the iPhone's email and call notifications are not being displayed on the MBP 2017 in sleep mode. On the Ventura without OCLP it works normally. Could it be some incompatibility of the system running via OCLP?

@OKonnel - as you were stating that u enabled mediaanalysisd: are you using Apple Photos a lot? Does it correctly recognize faces?

Thank you,
Joachim
Yes, @jotzet, my iMac 14.2 correctly recognises faces in Photos. But I'm back in Sonoma. I didn't notice if it also worked in Sequoia. As soon as I have time, I'll reboot from the external SSD where I have Sequoia 15.5 Beta and let you know.

Could you please check whether you too have the problems I described in my long previous post with the your iMac 14,2? Starting with the bad functioning of Preview -> Tools -> Colour Correction... -> Histogram which if you move the two sliders at the ends or if you press the Auto Level button makes the image disappear....
Strangely enough, in fact, with the friend peppolone's MBP it works; yet he too has an nVidia video card of the Kepler series... Mystery

Hello to all,

Some logistical information:

New KDKs are available for Sequoia 15.5, Sonoma and Ventura; May 4, 2025 is listed as date of posting for all the KDK modules. I download KDKs directly from apple website because, for some reason, OCLP initiates downloads during patching, but doesn’t complete the process. During installation process, the Internet connection is maintained via Ethernet. New MtallibSupportPkg is available through OCLP for Sequoia 15.5.

iMac 13,2 (metal capable)

Sequoia 15.5 (all betas). Fully operational; on par with 15.4.1 performance. All updates via OTA method, with installation supported by OCLP 2.4n. Preview's histogram window is inoperative, and moving leftmost tag int the color histogram causes "picture" to disappear. This has been reported previously by OKonnel. Oddly, Preview's color histogram window "works" perfectly in MacBook Pro 5,2 (non-metal).

MaBook Pro 5,2 (NON-Metal reference)

I installed all betas OTA, and for most part basic functionality was there. However, 15.5 beta 4 brought a slew of problems related to webkit. Major Mail failures with empty mail-view windows and inactive “new message” windows, Safari page-reloading ad infinitum. In addition, it was impossible to add third party mail accounts to the mail application, e.g., AOL or Yahoo. The mail issue became so insidious (progressing to multiple “frozen” viewing windows) that I had to delete volume on which Sequoia 15.5 betas were installed. Com.apple.webkit.content and com.apple.webkit.networking were two failed functions listed in console’s crash report log, and associated with Safari and Mail App. activity.
“Created” a new empty volume on the SSD to install latest “Sequoias”, then installed version 15.4.1 in that space.
I used an installer downloaded to, and located on still another volume. Patched 15.4.1 with OCLP 2.4n; the KDK used was one associated with the 15.4.1 release. Post patching, on reboot, Sequoia 15.4.1 was functional within the expected limitations of the non-metal envelope.

When 15.5 RC was released I decided to update 15.4.1 to the newest version OTA. Installation process went without issues and system booted onto the desktop. Before patching with OCLP 2.4n, I logged into apple developer website to download KDK, and noticed the new KDK releases, not just for Sequoia, but also Sonoma and Ventura.
Downloaded KDK for Sequoia 15.5 and installed onto unpatched volume, before proceeding with OCLP 2.4n mediated patching. On reboot I had all the functionality of 15.4.1 without any issues with Mail, iTunes or iCloud; only Safari still failed with page reloading error.
It is possible that the new Kernel_Debug_Kit_15.5_build_24F74 for Sequoia 15.5, provided the needed changes to install 15.5 RC on this near 16 years old computer, as there were no discernible changes to the OCLP 2.4n since its release last month.

Just for logistical purposes, the MacBook Pro 5,2 has an EVO SSD with four volumes in single container running Sequoia 15.5 RC, Sequoia 15.4.1, Sonoma 14.7.6 and Catalina. Catalina can be installed via Dosdude1’s patcher and is compatible with OCLP,; perfect combination for major recovery process should something happen to OCLP core.

Hope this information may of of help.
Great work by the developer teams and testers.

After Apple's release of KDK (24F74), I re-applied post-install patches to my MBP6,2 with OCLP 2.3.2 Nightly.

Posting this with Safari 18.5 running in Sequoia 15.5 RC (24F74).

Thanks for the encouragement!
MBP5,2 updated to 15.5RC from b3, using OCLP 2.4.0n (14 Apr).
Indeed Safari now does load pages correctly (after root patching). The cloudflare loop, also seen on metal, remains.

Quite responsive 16 years old system, esp. in Safari. Thanks developers!

Thinking back, what happened to me was as follows. I have set both the Macs I use here to save the Desktop to iCloud. This means I don't have to remember which Mac something is on, they both can see it.

On first login after updating the unsupported rMBP it was apparent it hadn't synced with iCloud because there were no files showing on its desktop. BTW after an update I don't like to log in to iCloud as it's booting, preferring to wait until I'm logged in to macOS successfully.

As usual, the Mac was pretty busy doing post update "stuff" at the time and activity monitor confirmed it. I figured OK, let it do what it needs to do before trying iCloud login later. That's what I did, waited for the fans to go to idle, checked activity monitor, rebooted and logged in to macOS

I don't remember whether it had automatically logged in to iCloud or whether I had to manually connect, but all the desktop files reappeared at some point.

Quick update: I did not find the time to try to do something you describe. But in the meantime (and after 1-2 reboots and extended time of use) I somehow got "automagically" logged into iCloud again and the login nag when opening sys prefs went away by itself.

I hope it stays that way...

Sounds right. I reckon the problem is caused by overload (or maybe sequencing of OCLP operations?) that occurs on the first user login reboot after update.

That's why I don't accept the prompt to log in to iCloud on the first user reboot. I experienced that twice before sussing it out, since then it hasn't happened again. Patience is a virtue in this case.

Changes to the 2.4 changelog

Hi guys, thanks to anyone who can help me. I recently used Open Core to install Sequoia on my 2015 MacBook which didn't support it. Everything works perfectly fine except that for many things it becomes very slow, it seems to do so when it needs graphics acceleration which is regularly installed and working, so much so that if I disable it it even seems to work better, for example chrome is very slow even with a few tabs open, to switch between settings sections even. CPU and Ram don't seem to be particularly loaded unless I open a lot of things but the speed seems independent of how many apps I have open or resources are loaded.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it working decently again?

I have an Intel HD Graphics 5300 1536 MB.

Thanks

MBA 3,2 and MBA 6,2 updated to 15.5 via OCLP 2.4.0 OTA from 15.4.1
Auto-updated itself when OTA starts and also auto d-loaded KDK and no glitches at all as far as I could tell.
The 3,2 requires root patching twice as before and takes quite a while which is also to be expected but it still does a decent job as a basic backup computer with complete iCloud support. Cosmetic, but most of the screensavers are also beyond the power of this old friend but there are a few that does the job. Or just have it turn off the screen ;)
Very useful all in all for compatibility when needed!

I wanna say may it long continue but that might be a tad unrealistic I guess but you never know with devs of this calibre 😉

Did you apply the post-install patch?
