So is version 3.0 the next version of OCLP that we're waiting on for a public release? I saw mention of a version 2.4.2, so not sure if that was a typo on the person's behalf who typed it, or if it's coming before 3.0. I haven't seen either one offered yet.

Edit: the 2.4.2 reference was on the Sonoma thread, as that's where I'm staying right now as the sweet spot. It seems like it's more active here though, and that's why I still post here as well.
May I ask you why do you stick with Sonoma? I also have the exact model as you (iMac17,1) + MacPro6,1, and I didn’t find any significant problems with Sequoia. What are the pros of having Sonoma rn? Except 4k on YouTube with Safari.

The display is part of the app "About This Hack" available off GITHUB.🧐

Thank you very much! 💖

Well there were a couple of main things:
1. The messages app (even with a clean install) would randomly freeze / become sluggish on certain messages. It would also have little graphics glitches in the text input field.
2. Apple is just making changes to the way the OS functions, that I don't need, or like in my particular setup, and many of the features I would want to at least test. Don't even work without a T2, or Apple Silicon.
3. Sonoma in my setup just feels smoother, and better polished, even for an unsupported OS.
4. I would have stuck with Monterey, as it still works for what I need, and I have Firefox, and Chrome support, as I have never been a Safari user. It, always had issues with sites I used, when it first came out, so I had to switch to another browser anyway, and I got used to the other two, plus they aren't limited to Apple's platform, and I don't want to be either. With this said, I have older software that's happier under Monterey, and older, even though it does run on current versions of macOS.
5. I would prefer to switch to Linux, but because of my visual impairment, having text message forwarding available helps, and it's one of the only reasons I still need a Mac at this point, or at least use one. Besides that it's just a matter of finding software replacements in the open source community. It's just a combination of specific details in my case that most people don't have to deal with, or it's not what they use a computer for that makes my setup specific. One other thing is, After trying, and using Sonoma as my daily driver for almost a month now, It's nice to have the few app updates I get, but seriously, talking from a daily driver, and a computer as a tool, and not a toy prospective, modern macOS doesn't really give me anything over the old stuff. All the new features Apple is adding are useless to me, and things I don't need, or want. In terms of security, the main things that really matter in my case, are an up to date browser, and email client. (for the time being)
Edit: Bottom line, I need stable over bleeding edge.

KDK 15.6 is available
MBP5,2: updated to 15.7rc4 from 15.6.1, with USB installer. Root-patched with OCLP 2.4.0 which indeed uses the KDK of 15.6.
System behaves well.
This in now on external SSD, the internal has Tahoe 26.0b8 already but without my user data/environment. This is usable (non-metal graphics fast enough) with ethernet cable, without wifi.
Now updating the external from 15.7rc to 26.0b8 to see how my normal setup behaves with Tahoe (USB installer). User data are a CCC data clone.
Sequoia is proven sufficiently in the MBP5,2 which acts merely as a test system.

I just tested from this late 2015 iMac to a Gen 3 ATV 4k running Sonoma 14.7.8 and OCLP 2.4.0, and it worked without issues.

BTW, what content did you mirror? I mirrored this thread in Firefox.
I tried mirroring my desktop and Safari window open, but it didn't work. Perhaps it's a conflict with another application installed on the system. If that's the case, I'll format the Mac for Ventura and then reinstall Sequoia on top. Since I don't use the feature much for now, I'll leave it as is. Was HDR enabled in the display settings for this mirroring? If not, that's another reason I shouldn't bother with it, because I know it sends HDR to the TV via a USB-C to HDMI cable on my MacBook Pro.

No, I set the UI to 4K/SDR, and use match dynamic range for content. I could test Safari if you want.

My Apple TV 4K is also set like this, the apps work perfectly AirPlay to ATV, the problem is only with the Mac's screen mirroring feature.

Hi Everyone ;)

I have Mac Mini late 2014 , OPLC updated, all work until 15.6 After the 15.6.1 update, after inputting few letters on the login password, the screen went black and then back to the login screen. Even in recovery mode.

I'm stuck, what do you recommend I do? Thank you very much in advance.

I just tested Safari, and it worked without issues. I also did you one better, and tested as a separate display and it also worked. So could be potentially something local to your setup, or OCLP has issues with your particular mac model. If you have access to a current Roku model, they support AirPlay see if your problems happens with it as well. I'm not sure if they support mirroring or not.

I'm going to limit any future testing of this featue because it screws up my accessibility settings, and zooms out so I can't read the screen. I hope I was able to help with the tests I did.

I recently tried the MacOS 15.7 beta update and the KDK update failed causing me to lose graphic acceleration support and have the wrong fixed resolution and black background screen . . . until the updated KDK below was available recently.

I downloaded this update, installed it then was finally able to apply my root patches using OCLP (2.4.0). I'm now at this build on my 2015 quad core 2.8GHz i7/16GB/2TB setup. Very pleased and thankful for the work the OCLP developers continue to put into supporting the Intel community, thank you!!!

I'm running Safari version 26.0 (20622.1.22.11.13) without any issues so far . . .

Update: I reinstalled Sequoia on an external drive, and it gives me the exact same error: I can't enter my login password because the entire screen resets.

Is there anything I can do? What could have happened?

After today's latest 24G214 15.7 release, the SD card reader in a MBA 7,2 (2015) now recognizes SD cards and the System Information for Card Reader is fully populated.
WARNING: After the latest 24G217 RC4 release, the SD card reader in a MBA 7,2 (2015) NO LONGER recognizes SD cards and the System Information for Card Reader is NOT fully populated.
HOWEVER, the MacMini 2014 in signature on 24G217 RC4 DOES STILL recognize SD card reader.

Part of the reason I haven't wanted to use Sonoma, or Sequoia, is the Red menu bar issue with AMD GPUs. I recently found a fix for the issue by setting a desktop picture with a bright top, to keep the menu bar bright, which eliminates the red tint issue. Typically I liked using the dynamic wallpaper that was the default, but since I have to change usage habits for stability, I decided to go back to using custom wallpapers I download. Here is one I like, and have set for my Sonoma desktop. Looks like a nice picture / open window on the iMac's screen.
I have posted this on both threads.
