I’m having an issue after updating to Sequoia 15.8 RC3 (24H22).

The update itself installed without any problems. After booting into Sequoia, I opened OCLP and tried applying the Root Patches. OCLP began downloading the required KDKs and then prompted me to reboot.

After rebooting, the system gets stuck with the progress bar about halfway across the screen and never finishes booting.

I’ve tried rebooting three times with the same result. On the third attempt, I disconnected all of my other drives and left only the OS drive connected, but the progress bar still gets stuck at roughly the halfway point.

Has anyone else run into this with Sequoia 15.8 RC3 (24H22) and OCLP? Any suggestions on what I should try next?

Thanks!
As far as I know, the problem is that there is no KDK for 15.8 from Apple as yet. This seems to impact people whose Macs use AMD Legacy GCN graphics cards, so the problem seems to be that the kexts in the 15.7.9 KDK (which OCLP uses when there is no newer KDK available) cause the hang at boot when root patches are installed. This affects iMacs of 2014/2015 vintage, and some Macbooks in that age range that use dedicated graphics. The issue seems unresolvable until Apple releases an updated KDK, so the best advice for now seems to be to wait to upgrade to 15.8 until the KDK drops or (if already updated) to revert root patches and either live in a molasses-like world or wipe and reinstall 15.7.9. Many have successfully updated to 15.8 when graphics are, e.g. Intel HD4000 or Iris, so if you are in that world then the problem simply does not occur (indeed, you may not need a KDK to root patch at all).

I’m having the same issue. Please see my post in the previous page. I’ve moved on and installed Linux Mint instead. I still have a few other Macs though running various macOS.
