keeps moving things around, within the bars and in between bars, removing icons that were set to be seen, etc. I took several screen captures illustrating those problems, and sent an email to support@bartender.com, telling them that this application is still in beta, certainly not ready for prime time.

I started using Barbee a couple of days ago through TestFlight, and so far it is almost there with all items remaining where they are supposed to be all the time. One icon is not visible in Barbee settings though, the PCalc widget, but it is there in my main menu bar.

Interesting/surprising that people are getting different results with the three menu bar management apps. I have tried on 3 through the Tahoe beta and RC. My experience/view (and I am not in any way doubting yours):

Barbee I have dismissed as being inadequate - maybe I am being too harsh?
ICE was looking promising in July and August, but the latest release shows there is work to do before it is ready. I am guessing that will take Jordan (working on ICE in his spare time) a while yet.
Bartender 6 (and now 6.0.1) is not perfect, but significantly better than the other two. For me, very usable - and what I am using.

I am pretty confident that some/many of you have different views of the three apps and their current state. I am not knocking that - just saying where they are for me.

Decision time is when the Bartender beta finishes and I have to decide whether to purchase the upgrade. Right now it is looking promising and I am encouraged that in Applause it does have a small team of developers.

Surprising indeed. Bartender replied to my email by suggesting that I move back icons manually after every restart, which they recognize as being not ideal. I think they are having a hard time figuring out the changes in the new OS.

At the moment, I am sticking with Barbee, which on my end is perfectly consistent. The Bartender person who responded noticed that in my case iStat Menus were a problem in the Menu Bar. With the latest beta release a week or 2 ago, Barbee noted that they had addressed that issue, and indeed it now works with their application.

Edit 09/21/2025: tonight, there was an update to Barbee: v4.1.1 (20250922001). All my icons are now showing in the Shown items and the Hidden items menus in the Barbee Preferences... Menu Bar Layout. They can be moved where I want them, and they are staying in place after restarting the Mac. Same thing with the spacers. I hope Bartender will fix their problems sooner than later if they want me back.
