Yeah I noticed that too. Likely an iOS think since it didn’t work with Tahoe too. I just used airdrop instead. Could probably try image capture.

Looks good. I like the strategy of a "Snow Leopard" type performance improvement plus better AI integration. My hot take is that I will be hitting command + space bar more often....and that's ok.
I understand there is a fair amount of backlash about AI and "AI slop". But, I am willing to give it a chance.

Oh yes, I am. Not against AI itself, I do use it daily. But it must be my choice, on a very lightweight operating system. I don’t want it embedded in my OS. I am the intelligent one there.

Photo erase tool and extension and reframe work only on normal photos, no raw support yet

I don't think that term means what you think it means....
AI is meant to be a tool like anything else. There is only "AI slop" if people themselves are HUMAN slop and just lazily use the outputs as the end product. If you see a person/company actually putting out "AI slop" then it just means that PERSON/COMPANY is slop since it means they aren't even taking time to tweak, check and validate the results they are getting. In short AI will just magnify the type of person/business/process that is using it.
If you put **** quality info/process into AI you get AI slop.
If you don't spend time to check, validate, clean up your AI results, you get AI slop.
in either case your results would have been sloppy, the AI just gets you from points A-B faster.
I have an M1 Ultra and an M3 Pro… since Tahoe just dragging the selection box to capture a video on a screen portion moves at like 3fps with major lags and freeze hiccups, it’s just a selection box of WHERE it’s going to eventually screen record.
Never mind trying to do Mission Control or App exposé which have been finicky already before… it’s utter garbage on macOS 26

The problem with the whole thing on AI is that mostly everybody talks in absolutes.
A programmer friend often mentions examples of tasks that take from minutes to a single day on some problems or tasks that it has taken him a week or two or up to month. Specially when too many bugs or security problems are introduced (things that AI excels at due to being “patterns” and able to get and see the complete picture at once).
In any case, I find it very hard to believe that a few minutes of data processing amounts to the same energy and water expenditure of several weeks of a person working with always on screens, computers, AC or heater, constant internet searching for documentation, best practices, latest APIs, etc.
Same with saying that creating a single AI movie shot in a few seconds (whether someone thinks it’s slop or not) is worse compared to getting all the production crew, material creation, props, director, assistant directors, camera man, you name it to film the same thing.
That it loses the human touch, the craft and a sort of “soul” appeal? That I can get behind more… many of the things we do it’s for the journey and not only the outcome, so there’s that. But taking a 16 hours car trip in a single day is for sure cheaper than taking a horse to travel for several days staying at many hotels, many meals, feeding said horse, etc before reaching the destination.
if you need to back up remotely just get an old Mac mini to use as a server and plug the enclosure in to that
if the time capsule was sitting on your desk anyway then not a big deal
either way your going have faster back ups than an old time capsule
No. So weird haha, but maybe that's why no one is talking about it... maybe I have some app installed that does that, and it somehow wasn't working/activating before the macOS update. 😅

ok so it looks like this only happens automatically if you run out of room
not something you can set up and customize so doesn't really replace bartender or ice or any apps like that
I can't even get enough icons in my menubar to trigger it
are you on a MacBook with a notch?

I’m not spending money on a Mac mini. I will only get an external case for the 2TB and use USB.

That's what I'm seeing too--the arrow appears in the menu bar when I'm in an app that has so many of its own menu bar items, that the ones to their right otherwise would have gotten truncated to show fewer of them on earlier versions of macOS. It's a great built-in addition to menu bar functionality, finally.
