Ugliest screen in the whole OS. What the hell happened to Apple design? Ive? ...Ive? Oh, that’s right, he’s gone.

Yea ugly screen for sure. Ive was great at hardware design except for maybe the way to charge the original apple pencil. Yikes. But software wise I remember iOS 7 not looking super pretty but it's been refined (mostly icons) to look at lot nicer now.

"Battery"? That's a stupid name. Either it's not going to make sense on desktops, or people will get confused when it's renamed there. What's wrong with "Power" or "Energy"?

Reminds of that taskbar extension that IBM used to install on Thinkpads back in the day that showed a giant green battery with the status.

I bet they'll update it to something prettier. No way this ships.

why would you think they’ll change it? Remember those ugly iOS 7 icons everybody hated in the beta? No one believed Apple would ship iOS like that, but that’s exactly what they did. Worse, even 7 years later we’re still looking at those hideous icons.
So while I agree this icon is horrible, I’m fairly sure that’s what the final design will look like.

That wasn't one-off. He made a very similarly stupid design with the Magic Mouse (actually, that still uses the same stupid charging location, doesn't it? I don't actually know anyone who opts to use Apple branded mice...)

Then there is Apple's absolute worst hardware ever - the Siri Remote. For all the crap I give the Home Pod, the Siri Remote actually manages to be the worst thing Apple has shipped in the past 20 years.

You know... thinking over all the crap Apple has made... I feel like it all occurred before Jobs returned or after he passed.

I agreed with everyone in this thread - ugliest battery icon I've ever seen. I don't understand... this is 2020, not 1990's.

Anyway I like the new UI overall. Two things that irked me the most:
  • the tabs "24 hours" and "10 days" UI are shoddy as in iOS/iPadOS
  • The sidebar texts seems 'squeezed' and should be more spaced out

Because they've changed icons before throughout the beta process, plenty of times. You can dislike those iOS7 icons, but you can't deny they at least matched each other. This is just jarringly out of place relative to everything else.

It's nice that they finally built the estimated time remaining into the battery menu again, but good God who made that monstrosity of a battery icon for the battery page of system preferences?

I hate that battery design, it just looks so childish. And "Hard Disks" Apple, time to bring out that old PowerBook 170 for that selection.
