macOS Golden Gate 27.0 Beta 4 - What's New?

This happens to me too. I'm fairly certain that every Chromium based browser is involved, and maybe even Firefox, and the issue happens when the browser updates.

The new binary simply loses its permission to access the local network. Reboot fixes the permission.

Safari is not involved simply because it gets updated with the system.

This is by far the buggiest dev beta I have ever used...impatiently waiting for the next update.

Almost ever program including Outlook, Safari, etc. sporadically freeze and need to be force closed.

Glad I'm not alone. It was only happening to my Mac Studio, but it's happening to my MacBook Air as well now. I've tried everything, but only a restart fixes it.

@flowrider -- mine seems to occur about 12-24 hours after the update. Hopefully it doesn't affect you.

When it's occurring, Firefox still allows local network access (at least for me).
 
Just logged into Feedback Assistant and found that more than 10 similar reports for Chrome losing local network access.

It is fascinating reading all the posts regarding the various crashes and problems with GG Betas some are having.
I am no way unique or an expert as my journey into the Apple ecosystem is via many years of building, running hacintoshes and installing Betas from the word go on those machines which I would admit true Apple macOS Beta testing is not really valid in the true sense.

To continue the Apple journey past Tahoe, I had to purchase the M4 Mini and continue my curious habit of installing and testing any new macOS offerings. Not knowing what to expect, I immediately replaced Sequoia with Tahoe Beta1 and now GG all the way to Beta 4. I am not a heavy hitter apart from the occasional family photos and videos, emails, online shopping, music, movies and web browsing, that about sums up my varied usage.

The only glitch I have witnessed on occasions is the mouse cursor tends to freeze at times, there maybe other small bugs I haven't really noticed but program crashes or the ones described here in the forum I haven't experienced any of those. Maybe I am just lucky or not experience enough in the Apple sphere to recognise the various glitches/bugs being discussed at length.

At this point all I can wish for in the coming weeks/months is that GG improves for all and lives up to the prereleased hype.

I wonder what yatesd and nortonandreev have done to their phones 😁

It's running pretty well* on my base iPhone 17 (and MacOS 27 on my MBP). No hangs, crashes, reboots, freezes etc. It seems I don't use my devices enough!

* Not perfect: I still have a few feedbacks open, but that's the same every beta and most stay unresolved when it's released anyway. That's the bad part.

It's running so well on my iPhone 14 I often forget I'm even running a beta!

I’ve had a few minor glitches that have resolved before I’ve had the chance to isolate them enough to report them, but, aside from AutoCAD crashing a lot, particularly when running on battery and low power, it’s been pretty smooth sailing on my MacBook Pro.

Few days ago after I disconnected iPad Pro from screen mirroring, menu bar was unresponsive. Macnotch app started crashing right after, third party icons in menu bar shrunk and WindowServer started consuming half of the memory ad cpu.

Yikes. Yeah, that's not fun.

I'm just hoping AutoCAD stops crashing.

Hopefully you'll have better luck with DB5. A clean install without restoring a backup ... can't get cleaner than that!

This would make your feedbacks more useful to Apple than many others, as you/they can rule out 3rd party software interactions.

The only issue I have is when any app requests me to select a file, the Finder window will only accept one click and takes a couple of seconds before the file is highlighted.

I have plenty of other minor bugs, such as Siri having undergone a frontal lobotomy and Apple deferring to China and the emoji picker refusing to match the word Taiwan to their flag (iOS is fine) but the main issue is the Finder one.

macOS 27 will combine Tahoe and Golden Gate wallpapers into single entries and allow you to dynamically switch during the day based on the sun's position with a new "Solar" wallpaper engine:
