Any news on when a fix might come about? - my monitor and power and hard drives are all connected to one (expensive) hub. keeps dropping out ever since day one of Monterey. I am desperate.

Anybody tried with thunderbolt hubs vs usb-c hubs?
I'm trying a HyperDrive Thunderbolt 3/16 port hub right now and I still get the same problem. USB-C port on the hub work okay with a 4k monitor and my USB-A seem fine right now. When I attach a DP connection, I get instant computer freeze and have to do a hard shut down.

I experience problems with my ThinkVision P44w-10 ... I have the monitor connected via USB 3.1 gen 2 upstream / DP alt and PD ... using Thunderbolt 3 cable - so the cable is overkill for that. USB ports (hub) on the monitor rarely works.

Only issue with macOS... as my Windows laptop works without a problem everytime.

I've been using a Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Pro since I purchased my M1 MBP in November er last year and for the most part have had no issues to speak of until this morning. As of today I keep getting Kernel Panics when I connect. I'm not sure if it's one of my external drives or what's going on...

Also as of this morning, this is happening? Actually, this is what started happening first, and then the Kernel Panics after the reboot to try and correct this. After getting logged in, and before any Kernel Panic occurs, I'm seeing BlueTooth and Wireless being off. So I'm having to connect my Apple Magic Trackpad & Keyboard to my dock to get logged in and stuff.. Very weird & frustrating morning so far :(

I reinstalled macOS 12.0.1 over itself, and seems ok for now. I did initially get a message about a USB Device using too much power, but I'm unsure what it is. I unplugged my Logitech WebCam for now so there's less power being used and all is well at the moment. Other than not having my WebCam (or mic). I do have a number of external drives, but those are all powered as well. Anything I've got connected that's actually drawing power now has been unplugged...

There's something very strange happens with USB 3.0 in Monterey. I've just tried USB WiFi adapter ASUS AC-68. I plugged it in (driver by chris1111 was already installed), it connected, looked for the network and... then icon in menu bar disappeared. After 3-5 seconds it appeared again, adapter continued to search the network and failed again. And so on, and on.

I understand what's happened. Just like other USB devices, ASUS tried to connect to my iMac in USB 2.0 mode. But, unlike them, ASUS is pure USB 3.0 and can not work with USB 2.0. And it just could not...

I tried different ports, and no luck. It looks like Apple consciously makes the obstacles for external USB devices in Monterey, just because some of them can be used as hardware substitutes on unsupported Macs.

Had the too much power error over the holiday. Which is really strange since the only things plugged into the computer itself are three thunderbolt powered hubs.

Hey guys! I managed to get this working by uninstalling the newest DisplayLink Software and installing

DisplayLink Manager Graphics Connectivity (1.3.1)

Has anyone tested this on 12.1 betas or the new RC?

I have a 2020 iMac connected to an OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock (powered) via Apple's Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter. I never connected that hub before Monterey, but I definitely have major connectivity issues with it, affecting hard drives and audio devices.

I need the hub, so I'm very eager to see this bug fixed.

Have 250+ Macs in our fleet ready to upgrade – just waiting to see if 12.1 fixes USB-C hub issues.

I've been running 12.1 for a couple hours tonight and my external HDDs have not disconnected from my OWC Thunderbolt 2 hub (connected via Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter)!

Usually, my HDDs would lose their connection within minutes of booting and logging in.

I also connect a RØDECaster Pro to the same hub. It previously suffered horribly from the disconnects, but I haven't been in a circumstance to retest that, yet. However, its problems would always occur when my HDDs would lose their connections, too. So I'm going to assume it's working, too.

EDIT: Nope. I was wrong. I still have the same problems.

Awesome! Glad to hear that it's fixed, and thanks for reporting back.

On 12.1, my Samsung T5 SSD still does not work plugged directly into my MBP (since I have upgraded to Monterey. I have to plug it into a USB hub that is powered externally for it to work.

For me, some problems are fixed- strangely even without 12.1. before, some external drives kept disconnecting but suddenly they seem to work just fine (even with 12.0.1). I still have to test a small portable usb c hub which would not be able to host a usb a stick. Will report if this also works now.

Going to take the plunge. I'm getting daily crashes from waking from sleep with APFS (nothing plugged in) from the Big Sur patch.

12.1 did not fix my USB hub problem. Both my BenQ 32" 4k display and WaveLink 7-port USB3 hubs are still disconnecting from my M1 Mac mini. This is really frustrating. Come Apple, get your ? together!
I also still have problems. It recognises the external displays but none of the USB devices.
