External disks via mass storage mode (camera) is not showing. (plugged directly via USB) It pops up as untitled but says ZERO ITEMS - big problem for creatives. MacOS 15.1 Beta 2

I have several very different external drives for backups and not any problem.

In Beta 1 I connected my iPhone 4s to my Mac and it was shown as a normal drive like a camera on the Desktop with this DCIM folder and the photos in it, now in Beta 2 it is recognized as iPhone4s with iOS 9.3.3 in the Finder's sidebar and could even be synced and backed-up, what had not been possible anymore with iTunes many years ago. Very strange.

took some time ... it seems to have reloaded system AI files after playing with languages ...

But additionally, I had to toggle Location Services Off/On to have Siri enabled to see my location.
Thanks, I changed Siri's language and changed it back and now she activates. Still won't summarize articles for me though 😡

I do not know about Microsoft Teams, someone else added that to the beta thread, and it seems like an app specific issue.
Seems fixed. This was my biggest issue.

In 15.0, it's now a month. 15.1 has yet to have this fixed quite yet.
It looks like Windows Vista all over again. So many popups, at the end of the day, I'm starting to accept or reject everything blindly...
And even more strange, you have "Allow for one week" or "Open System Preferences", what if you don't want to allow it at all ? You have to open Systems Prefs and configure it ? And where in System Prefs is the expiration date of the authorization ? This whole thing is a weird UI, not thought out.

I am not sure what you mean by this.
I didn't really know how to explain. When you drag a window at the top, it triggers Spaces, when what I really want to do is maximize the window.
A workaround I found was to press the Option key while I'm dragging... Not ideal, but OK.
One thing I like about Apple's version of window tiling is that if you have a window on the left or right portion of the screen, no matter what size it is, it will adapt the other window to take all the remaining space on your screen. Well thought. Magnet didn't work that way.

It will be impossible to open Xcode 15 because Apple wants developers looking ahead and making sure their apps are great on the newest platforms, not behind. Sonoma, Xcode 14 was impossible, Ventura, Xcode 13 was impossible. Previous version will not work on the next version.
I think you're right. I never realized. Maybe because since Mojave I didn't really install macOS betas, or I installed them in September, so didn't really care about losing a week or two to have the final Xcode.
One other workaround that I thought about, but won't use it, is that I have Xcode Cloud enabled, so my app compiles there, and not in the beta compiler of Xcode.

Scrolling with my mx master 3s no longer works with iPhone mirroring. It was working fine last beta

Sounds like more issues than fixes/enhancements this go around? Might just stick with Beta 1 (which has been bug-free for me).

Are there any other AI improvements?

That's really a mess even with SIP turned off, Securtity settings set to lowest possible and Gatekeeper turned of. I permanently get annoying messages. I even get asked if I really want to open an App (for the first time), while it is already open.

With those settings it seems I also only can run iOS apps only if they are explicitly compiled for Mac too and there is no way around.

Just got this after a reboot and there was even a window telling me to reboot again after re-enabling those extensions. But it disappeared after entering the password.

On the last reboot a few hours ago there were some other things to confirm. This is so annoying.

When did this all start? I only can go back to Ventura on this Mac. I was out a while because of health reasons and used an old MacBookPro from 2011 with High Sierra until about two years ago, when the famous GPU damage finally appeared. I had to switch back to that one from a newer MBP.

My 2017 15" MBP had a garbage Keyboard from the beginning like almost all of them, the display can be opened for only up to 10-20 degrees or so and then goes black and also has this "stain gate", also two of the four TB3-Ports are somehow deformed, that nothing gets into them anymore and the battery suddenly is almost completely dead from after not using it for a few months and only holds power for a few minutes. Before that it had been fine.

So I had to switch back to the old one. Otherwise it would run fine with an external display when permanently on power, but I don't have a Display only my iMac.

That one came with Sierra and I updated only up to Mojave I think. I later had to update it to Monterey or Ventura or so in that almost unusable state to activate the iCloud Advanced Data Protection on my other devices and had to kick out my 2016 iPhone SE completely from iCloud. Couldn't even login to the App Store anymore to update my apps with that ID then.

Anyone having trouble with Baldur’s Gate 3? The launcher starts and when I press play it immediately crashes. I’ve tried cleaning the cache and Documents folder. It was fine on 15.1 beta 1, but after installing beta 2 it is now crashing.

all these changes and after 15 versions of Mac OS X you still don't know what its being copied from a place to another...
You just get a useless progress bar saying Copying XXX items to "HD" but it doesn't show what is being copied from.
So basically, it's a blind copy. If u have a few simultaneous copies, you don't really get any information besides it's size and where it's being copied to.
let's say you want to backup a Few folders from different places and then you forgot which ones got copied... You have no way of knowing....
Wanna make the OS smarter? on the Get Info, show when and where the file was copied to and from. Somehow,, internally, the finder knows when a folder exists or even when it was partially copied... So it is perfectly ok to store some kind of history metadata with a folder or file to show where it came from and when.
Instead of wasting time with Genmojis and kiddie stuff, make the OS better and more professional.
I remember the old System 9 days when you could customize colors and styles and icons and folders with apps like Kaleidoscope and later in OS X apps like Speed Copy that gave you real copy information and merging...
It's very frustrating

iPhone Mirroring is... I don't know what they did, but it's surprisingly fast, honestly.
Look, it's far from ready, there's still a critical bug, but the fundamentals are very impressive.

What's wrong with this IMO :
  • There's no way drag anything, so no way to scroll anywhere (apart from the Home Screen), unless I'm missing something. I have an MX Master 3S, no trackpad.
  • Shortcuts from the iPhone Simulator in Xcode don't work in iPhone Simulator. I'm so used to that 😢

Anyone using this on a Mac mini knows if the delay when you try to airplay audio through the control centre is gone?
I just found out about this today after moving my Mac mini to my bedroom where my HomePod minis are located.
ITS REALLY annoying.

So, I got Sequoia on 2018 MBP...somehow it's not letting me update to 15.1...is it because of the Intel?

On M2 15" Macbook Air when attempting to download and install 15.1b2 I get a slow 14+gb download then "failed to prepare update".

That happened last night and again this morning. So I won't be bothering with 15.1 beta versions on that MacBook Air.

I while ago I already saw anyone else is also getting this. It has always be forced to quit. Every few days it's coming since at least the first beta of 15.1 had been released and I don't know what is triggering it. So I can't reproduce it.

At the moment it's just sitting in the Dock without jumping, because I didn't quit it yet.

There is also no spot under the icon so it looks even like an app pinned to the Dock that is not running. I have deactivated showing recently opened apps in the Dock.

What could be causing this?
