If I had the money and had a real need, I would consider it, but since its a major redesign since the Retina in 2012, this is sure to have its fare share of early adopter issues. Will continue to enjoy my Early 2015 MacBook Pro 13 which is not even being fully maximized. For those suffering through the long wait, I am sure you will be glad to take the weight off your wallet or credit card. I hope DDR4 and 512 GBs of storage standard.

Hell yes they're good. Even the current gen 15" is an absolute beast.
So is the 13 inch model. At least, I've got that one and it's my very first Mac. Bought it last February, so no need for me to upgrade. I mean, it works absolutely fantastic. So far I've only had some issues related to software (which can be fixed of course). In terms of speed it does a pretty remarkable job in my opinion. :D

However, I am very curious about the next models. Would be good to see the MacBook Pro getting a decent upgrade, as the past few years have been pretty stall at that point. Since the first rMBP only some hardware upgrades. Looking forward to what they're gonna show us. :)

New MacBooks coming before years end...

...I just went from 6 to Midnight.

Kind of a sales bummer for Apple to 'still' not have the new Macs available. My niece just bought a new MacBook for College cause' she, and thousands of other students, have to have one 'now', not by the end of the year.

Please could you articulate what your niece would suddenly be able to do on an updated MacBook Pro with slightly better hardware specs, that she can't do on the model she's just purchased?

When I bought my first Mac earlier this year, I've had this feeling like "hmm, maybe I should wait for a while". And that was just because of all the rumors I heard about an upcoming new model. But then I realized: even if there are groundbreaking changes, I don't think it would matter that much to me. So I decided to buy it anyway. Haven't regret that, and I won't even if a new model is announced this September.

Of course I'd love the new features, but at the other hand... what my current MacBook Pro (see signature for specs) offers so far is very, very good. I'm truly amazed by this machine. It may not be the best one, but that's simply because I didn't have the money. And I don't use software like Photoshop, Final Cut Pro etc. Only 'heavy' software I use is VMware, and that works fine. Also got Windows 10 running in Bootcamp (use that for school and to manage my Cisco routers/switches with). Thanks to Continuity it makes a great companion to my other Apple devices. Love it. Never felt like this about a computer. May sound a bit overreactive, but that's how I feel about it.

Anyway, going a bit offtopic. I think people should buy a Mac when they need it, and shouldn't wait for a new model just because it has new features. Unless of course, you do care about having the newest of the newest OR if your current one is pretty old already. While I am very interested in what the next MacBook Pro will offer, I'm not going to be all over it for at least a few years. :p

I've been saying this for every MacBook Pro rumor this year... I can't wait for the new machines, this Core 2 Duo MBA isn't cutting the mustard anymore.

I definitely agree about the pricing :)

But let's not kid ourselves; the current rMBPs are still awfully capable.
I have a bad feeling that they'll be more capable even after the introduction of the new ones - if they remove SD Card slot and there will be only USB-C ports and audio jack, I'll have to purchase another backpack for all those damn adaptors. If they will have included one USB-A, it would be better for the transition. And if they remove SD Card, we'll lose way how to expand storage on-demand. :(

I want to believe.

Kaby Lake natively supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 and Thunderbolt 3

Confirmation all new iMacs and MacBook Pro's to get Kaby Lake and not Sky Lake? Could explain why it's been so long with no new hardware updates.

Bring it!
I would personally love to have this laptop if, in fact, this implies Kaby Lake as well. I'm very hungry for this new MBP.
If Apple is holding off updating the iMac and MBP until Kaby Lake that means there will be no iMac/MBP update in 2016 at all. The only Kaby Lake chips expected to ship this year are Core M chips appropriate for the Macbook. Kaby Lake chips appropriate for the iMac/MBP aren't shipping until 2017.

I really do sympathise with your situation. I'm hoping that a significant CPU boost, larger storage options, and even quicker SSDs should soften the blow. It's only a matter of time until Apple do away with all this stuff, I'm afraid. Best look at the positives.

Remember the fallout with the first rMBP when they got rid of Firewire, Ethernet, the optical drive, and the Line In jack, all in one move? It's not perfect, but it's gonna happen; for better or for worse. Let's see how the performance is! :)
