macOS Tahoe 26.0 Beta 4 - Bug fixes, changes, and more

I’ve seen in some videos when the first beta came out that windows now open/close with a subtle animation, is that still the case?

The "Scale Effect" has a very fast animation minimizing and opening minimized windows almost instantly. Not sure if this is new.

In Tinker Tool there are three options. "Suck in" is a little slower than "Scale" maybe that was the old one. I always used the "Genie Effect". So I can't really remember.

It does not work for folders in the Dock, only in Finder and all hidden files are still greyed out. When you set region to USA in the general System Settings it will get visible. This is working for iOS/iPadOS too.
The language can stay German only. Some of those settings like date and number format might change and you have to change them back. Could be only for me because I use English as primary language.
It doesn't affect the location of your Apple account. So the EU only features in iOS still work.

Can anybody try on their Mac. Pressing COMMAND + F and writing cube, right after I press "e" the finder window crashes and no search or files are found. Reported in Beta1, Still happening on my MBP Max on Beta 3.

Yes, I can confirm that. Every other letter after cub is working, it's only happening with cube.

Also other words where the fourth letter is an e don't crash the Finder. Very strange.

Seem liker icons if you try to realign them in Finder, they will use the area under the side panel as well now.

Those new animations are fast and fluid like never before (on macos 15) for me (M4 max) 🙏🏻 this isn't a bug but a feature

Yes if you move at least two next to another the right one(s) can get hidden under right preview panel, or if you just make the window smaller.

Anyone having this issue with Apple Music? Trying to sync my iPhone but am unable to select anything, nor do any buttons show up.

Have you tried to eject and reconnect it? I see the music on my iPhone there.


But I have other problems, all those Apple Music sections show me just a spinning wheel. Sometime after a longer while it loads (at least it was the case in Beta 3). In Beta 4 I can wait 10 minutes and nothing happens. The search preview is working but I don't get search results.

The iTunes Store is loading normally.

Also it looks always like I am logged out in the bottom left corner. Was already the case in Beta 3:

I can see in the Menu Bar, that I am logged in and even my account balance. Logging in new doesn't change anything.

I don't know what to do, all expeditors in Mail are blocked but doesn't appear in the block list. All my emails are automatically going to the trashcan. MBA M1 running macOS 26 beta 4.

Edit : fixed. Beta 4 add a contact with no information in the block list and, because of that, blocking all expeditors.

Anyone having this issue with Apple Music? Trying to sync my iPhone but am unable to select anything, nor do any buttons show up.

All you have to do is make your playlists on one device and all the others on the same iCloud account sync up. No more need to connect your phone with a cord. I found this out about a month or 2 ago. I was trying to physically connect mine with Sequoia and it wasn't showing up. I actually love not having to connect my phone any more.

Yes, did this in the past but this breaks German/German Siri. Opening the hidden News App is at least a workaround to the regional block which is normally on that app.

I was able to upgrade a machine via screen sharing and have it come back to screen sharing after the upgrade reboot.

Previously, I had to go to the machine and use a local keyboard and mouse (and monitor) to log in after every reboot.

Working fine for me.

It finds three items - two music files where the name contains the word "cube" and one PDF which has the word "cube" somewhere in it. If I narrow the search down to just names, then the PDF one goes away, as expected.

Anyone else unable to view new updates in the App Store? With Sequoia, I could go to the Updates page in the App Store and then choose "Reload Page" from the menu bar to load the latest updates. Now, the "Reload Page" option is grayed out, and apps that I know have updates available aren't showing.

no such issue here... until beta 4. but the 'hit escape a bunch of times, then command-R' worked for me today👍

See my post on Page #2 of this thread. I've had this issue since beta 1 and I put down what worked for me to fix this:

Tried it and DID NOT solve the issue, still same 2 problems, no updates and most purchased apps are still not showing and want me to repurchase. It's a known bug already, some people said in other places that the their purchased apps came back in beta 3 but are gone in beta 4 again.
Normally beta 4 is the first beta where feedback issues and bugs start getting fixed, but it seems that Apple is still focused on the cosmetic issues first. So hopefully beat 5 will correct the issues. Though I do feel bad for anyone who installs macOS 26 Public Beta if it's released this week.

I'm gonna need someone to make an app like Replacicon (or an update for that) so you can set your own custom light/dark app icons.

Unlike on iOS where most apps eventually updated, I just know it's gonna be slow if ever for a lot of Mac apps. I'd like to use dark icons when in Dark Mode, but not unless my whole dock is uniformly dark – I'm OCD like that.

This works it took a few hours to populate apps to update. However in the previous production version you could use the Reload Menu to refresh the listing, this option remains greyed out. Thank you for a good work around.

Glad it worked for you, DID NOT work for me, still no app updates or all my purchased apps showing. My issues started on beta 2, not beta 1 (for me everything worked great on beta 1). We should start keeping track of bugs per what Mac. It could be something also. I'm on Mac mini M4 Pro.
And I know the purchased apps not showing (and wanting you to repurchase any purchased app NOT installed on your Mac) is a beta bug, because I tried a Sequoia Mac I had laying around and everything worked fine. But Apple still seems to not be replying to or looking at the feedback yet...

I have to go to account and see the invoices and basically can only search by year / month. Is there a way to reset the old view. See all purchases. I can only see Aplications which are installed in both Mac and iPad. Any help much appreciated. I hope its because of BETA.

Known issue, it's what I've been talking about the purchased apps missing. Any app NOT installed on your Mac wants you to repurchase. This has been since beta 2. And like I said I feel bad if they do release the public beta this week. Avoid clean installs until these app stores bugs are fixed because you could end up without your needed apps.

Have a weird issue with my dock on Tahoe.

Whenever resuming my M3 Pro from screensaver, the dock reverts to autohide, requiring me to set it again not to autohide. Not the worst, but definitely weird.
