got this

for me (mbp 16 m1) Tahoe beta was working so so...I installed now the full release on a new partition and must say it is much quicker and smoother then Sequoia, with 16gb I could easily see on Sequoia when the ram is getting in the yellow area (window animation was starting to slow down just a bit) with clean Tahoe nothing like that happens oh and even the Safari side menu bug disappeared (it was even on a full Tahoe updated from beta)
so definitely it really needs a clean install

as much I don't really like the liquidness, it is worth for the overall smoothness (I installed Sequoia twice clean and was always choppy a bit)

Had to roll back M3 MBA to Sequoia; here’s why:

Using 2024 M3 MBA.) Installed Tahoe, and worked fine.
However, I’ve noticed these items. 1) In Music, all folders seem to open every time to add something or drag and drop files. Really annoying. But that wasn’t the major irritant- this was:

I use SuperDrive a lot to play DVDs. Worked fine on Sequoia. Got the spinning beach ball of death from time to time, but what DVD player doesn’t do that. However, now during playback, audio synched fine to people’s speaking, but people’s movement and actions were slightly slower. You could see it easily, and it drove me crazy. Support says Tahoe OS architecture has some unknown change in it that messes with the playback frame rate. Or something. In any case, SuperDrive is discontinued, thus unsupported, so the option was The Nuclear Option: wipe MBA, install from the very smart TM backup I made Sunday night prior to Monday Tahoe install. So, back to Sequoia, which I have NO problems with.

Questions: 1) how to I get the little red nag badge off Settings app and 2) Will Apple still release updates for Sequoia users, and 3) how long can I get away with using Sequoia?

I found a bug in macOS Tahoe 26.0 (25A354):
every time I clear history in Safari then a crash report is generated.
Console --> Crash Report --> Safari

Please can you check if it is the same in your systems?

I have a question: Do you still see the “Show All in Finder” option when searching in Spotlight? I can’t find it anywhere. I came across mentions online that the missing option to display all found files in Finder was one of the bugs occurring in the beta versions.

Is anyone having an issue streaming to Apple TV since updating to Tahoe? I am unable to stream from my MacBook Air with Airflow or Elmedia Video Player. Both worked fine prior to updating. Both are enabled on Local Network and Firewall settings.

If you have another current computer or partitioned one with Sequoia on it, boot to it and immediately go up to the Wireless icon and turn WiFi off so things won't sync. In Finder/Go menu hold down Option, click Go and select Library. Open Safari folder and drag Bookmarks.plist to the Desktop and copy that file to your Tahoe computer in the same place in the Finder.
Thanks, but I don't have either.

This is on an M2 Mac Mini.

I have a graphical glitch involving the Menu Bar where any icon placed in the top slot (grid) next to the bar is darker than all the others.

The OS's screenshot system is also broken. Any screenshots saved using Command+Shift+3 or Command+Shift+4 are saved tinted, as though they’re capturing the selection window’s coloration (which only exists to let the user see what is being captured, in the case of 4). Command+Shift+4+Space not only doesn’t allow you to select an individual window, it creates an empty, transparent screenshot of the entire display instead.

Also iBooks Author is finally broken beyond usability. The Book Outline sidebar is being rendered underneath the book’s text. It’s still clickable, but you have to click blind. And on the far right of the window, the space otherwise taken up by the Book Outline sidebar (which is always on the left) is rendered as a broken white space. Because of this jostling, the text of the book itself isn’t being rendered where it’s clickable, so clicking a word selects a word an inch or so out of place. Glad I got my Mac Pro working, since I now have to use it to finish this book…

I recently updated my M3 Pro MBP to the most recent version of OS 26
54792118038_d954898051_c.jpg

I am unable to get Messages to work on my laptop. It will ask me to log into my Apple account and when I do the iMessage app comes up and under settings after selecting Messages to select the input the app shuts down.

I am wondering if anyone is having the same experience here?
I am not having that same experience, but when I try to send a new Message, it takes several seconds for the recipient info to populate and I get the spinning color wheel.

I had the public beta on my 16-inch, Nov 2023, M3 Pro and it worked surprisingly well. I updated on the 15th and now my Messages are slow to populate a recipient. Wondering if I should do a fresh install of MacOS 26?

try system settings>keyboard>text input>input sources>edit: in that window, there's a 'show input menu in menu bar'. uncheck it (or if needed, try checking then unchecking it). perhaps reboot.

this happened for me in 2 beta updates, but not since. seems a little finicky....
That's it, thank you !

M2 MBA
Very weird scrolling issues in Safari with the trackpad(it'll just stop scrolling). I noticed it had been mentioned in some of the early beta threads too.
Not noticed it in anything else yet.
I have problems with the scrolling response of the trackpad being very sluggish. My fingers can move all the way off of the trackpad before the screen even starts moving.

Strangely, this happens on my M4 MacBook Pro, whether using the built-in trackpad, or the Apple Magic Trackpad in both wired and wireless modes.

But it's fine on my M1 MacBook Pro. No sluggishness there at all.

Strange.

Do you have pages updated? Because mine has an old design
The iWork apps are yet to be updated for Tahoe, or Apple-owned Pixelmator Pro and Photomator.

I don't think iMovie and GarageBand have either.

Getting a popup message on my Macbook pro with MacOS Tahoe saying about one of my SSD partisioned volumes “The memory card may be unsupported”. What is this and how can I get rid of the popup?

Updated to Tahoe yesterday and now the Music app no longer shows the size of playlists. I use this for burning backups. Tried Show Status a billion times and it does nothing.

Sounds similar to mine then. Driver issue?

View->Show Status Bar. Then scroll the playlist a bit. the status bar appears at the top of the window with song count, play time, and size.

Just song count and time show. I said in my initial comment that I tried numerous times Show Status. It does nothing. Tried scrolling. Nothing. Tried changing to numerous other playlists. Tried Show/Hide Status while scrolling. Scrolled to the bottom tried Show/Hide Status. Nothing. Also before you ask I did it both through the drop down menu and keystrokes.

If I take a window screenshot with the built-in tool and modify it with markups, it gets a very ugly black frame instead of the nice shadow it normally has :(
