>> macOS Tahoe >>
I'll again play the part of the old boring person who will tell newbies to wait at least another week or two for the actual Tahoe release to see if OCLP have something in store and are in sync as they often have been in the past.
At this time nothing is supported by OCLP so not much point in asking for things like app support. FWIW.

I ran SilentNight from eclectic and it gave me this:

Finding available software
Software Update found the following new or updated software:
* Label: macOS Tahoe 26-25A353
Title: macOS Tahoe 26, Version: 26.0, Size: 2718914KiB, Recommended: YES, Action: restart,

Just for info. It looks like Tahoe is out of beta. RC only

T26 update/3.0.0n on the way OTA. OCLP asked to update KDK 25A353.

Edit. This is not a beta an RC, there is an intro welcome to Tahoe 26. Taking a long while to become usable.

Edit: Seems to be working about like before. One strange happening, I had very little in the way of folders, jpeg's, etc on this desktop now after an SMC update, all the files on the other two volumes (I think) desktops are here. I am signed into Icloud. Firefox continues to be very quick, I only have one window, maybe that's the reason.

Easy and smooth upgrade from Tahoe Beta 9 -> Tahoe RC1. Still waiting patiently for OCLP post-install patches.

MBP11,1: updated to 26.0b9 on external SSD with a modified OCLP 3.0.0n, USB installer.
The inconvenience during installation on that machine (force power off and manual reboot after each step) ls still present.

No graphics patches done, but observed that AppleIntelHD5000Graphics.kext's presence in /Library/Extensions lets the system still boot (and appear faster than without), while AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext (the other ingredient in /L/E since many OS versions) doesn't (was always like this unless full graphics patches in place).

Writing OK from Safari 26.0.
MBP11,1: still on b9, but tried more root patching, and cloned all my user data to the external Tahoe SSD.
Graphics patches for Haswell are now in principle enabled, but excluding use of metallib support package which isn't there yet, and LegacyMetal3802 (taking metal.framework over from Sequoia resulted in a non-bootable system). Appended txt file has details of the few changes to OCLP source.

Some things work on this Tahoe on the 11,1:
Mail working but mail folders were all recreated, apparently conversion in place didn't work
Could recompile the OCLP from source
Photos is a special case - somehow the clever thing found the photos library in my internal Sequoia SSD (which I hadn't dismounted) and converted it to Tahoe which even worked, but worked no longer in Sequoia. Needed a restore from backup. Caution.

The 11,1 is somewhat usable with this incomplete graphics patch. Not worth repeating or continuing on my own...

Can you not turn off T2 in recovery menu, and still install Tahoe with OCLP?
Or does it do more in the background?

It won't help, the OS will always try interfacing with the T2 and the reason why kernel panic happens even on Sequoia with the MacBook Airs is due to timeout in communication.

The T2 is very integrated and it's sorta proto-Apple Silicon, many things get offloaded to it such as:

- SSD controller (SSD can't be talked to without T2 and it can lock the SSD out entirely e.g. when reported as lost)
- Audio controller (reason why AppleHDA is no longer included in Tahoe, as every supported Intel Mac routes through T2)
- Touch ID controller
- Touch Bar controller
- Media encode/decode
- Security Enclave Processor (SEP)
- Disk encryption (without performance loss from main CPU unlike older systems)
- Power management

Bro I also updated too, but it was horribly bad, so downgraded to Sequoia !
I have a MBP 14inch with M3Pro and have upgraded my laptop to Tahoe and have not had any issues. All updates have gone smoothly for me.

I am curious, what was it that went horribly wrong for you when you tried updating your machine to MacOS 26?

I myself have been following this thread to see if the wifi issue will be resolved before attempting to upgrade my 2017 MacBook 12 inch to Tahoe.

Bro I don't know why but my mac used to have hibernation issues in macOS Tahoe Developer Beta 1 so i downgraded back to Sequoia and yesterday I reinstalled macOS Tahoe RC and now it's working fine. Actually this mac belongs to my older brother and he rarely lets me use it. I have two models, one 2009 and one is MBP 11,1 so I am waiting for my unsupported mac to support Tahoe. I don't know when it will come. Exactly a developer from OCLP might tell. I have studied release notes for macOS Tahoe RC Beta and was amazed to find that Intels had many problems which were fixed by Apple so this may fix issues for OCLP on Tahoe, so maybe Tahoe Support might not release immediately but maybe require a month more to fix all issues! But this topic should be discussed with devs and if they wish, they might tell if there is any major update.

I tried installing Tahoe on my MaBook 10,1 and it did not work so I had to reinstall Sequoia back on to it as I knew Sequoia worked perfectly. For now I am on 15.7 build 24G222 and am perfectly happy running this until OCLP vers 3.3.0 becomes available and has full Tahoe support before I revisit upgrading on my MacBook again.

I love using my 10,1 MacBook because of how small and light this computer is. The second gen butterfly keyboard that is on this computer is very easy to type on and I actually like this keyboard. I don't know why I stayed away from this computer when it was being sold because I was led to believe this keyboard was a terrible keyboard. I have had this computer for a year now and haven't had any issues so far. No keys sticking when typing.

For Sequoia, 15.7 is on it's sixth RC6 so far and still not released...so I'd expect many more RC's for 26.0.0
Sequoia 15.7 and Tahoe 26.0 will be released at the same time (September 15, probably shortly after 1700 UTC). 15.7 is when Sequoia goes into "maintenance mode", they are not "adding" anything but just fixing bugs, which I guess is why they have been calling those releases "RC's" rather than "betas".

I'd say there is a small chance they will squeak out one more RC build for Tahoe if they feel the need for it. But most likely there will be nothing new until the final release on Monday, which may or may not be the same build as the RC release.

Let’s see what happens. Apple already said 15.9 on their website, so it means September 15th is the direct release date for all macs. I hope the stable version of Tahoe creates an ease for OCLP devs to fix all of the problems and we see an initial support for unsupported macs really soon. And for RC, I guess there is no RC beta 2 for macOS Tahoe

How long would you suggest waiting to update with OCLP after Tahoe comes out? Have been on the latest Sequioa on an unsupported Mac (2017) for some time that runs well and don't wan to mess that up.

Those having problems with iMessage do you have enable messages in iCloud clicked? . I don’t on my mid 2014 and still syncs perfectly only difference I believe with that is if I delete the message on my iPhone it doesn’t remove it from my Mac but that’s why it’s not clicked as my messages on my Mac go back years and my phone stays most recent.

I will be waiting until at least March or April with 26.4 (assuming OpenCore is able to patch these old systems to Tahoe) before updating any of my old Intel Macs to Tahoe. I currently have a 2012 and 2015 MacBook Pro 13-inch both running Sequoia 15.7 RC 6.

I will update my "deletable" T26 test volume today, it is an interesting experiment, and I am getting a glimpse of T26.
