I just had this happen the last couple days. Was worried my Studio Display might be failing. Hope it’s just software

More problems keep bubbling up to the surface on both Macs and mobile devices. Can we puh-LEEZE roll back to 15.7.3 and 18.7.3?

Interesting, I started to have the same issue recently but it’s when an hdr video is playing sometimes
I have seen it also but not sure any specific time it happens. Although I do think it has something to do with launching apps for me sometimes but seen it in other situations also.

I have noticed this recently. It's very subtle at least for me and seems to only happen when the brightness is auto-adjusting so I wasn't too worried about it.
Same here.. I turned off every auto adjustment feature and it still happened. Subtle but still frustrating.

I have a work M1 on 26.2 and haven't observed the issue with my MSD. However, I have noticed on my personal M4 with no external monitor intermittent shimmering now/again that made me wonder about a hardware display problem.

My flicker is a subtle temperature change. I think it has to do with flashing seconds on the clock in the menu bar… I haven’t troubleshot it, the flickering has the exact same timing as the clock.

I think it’s SuperClock haunting the machine.
That is actually a more accurate description of the issue, it’s not really a flicker but a pulsing temperature change. I don’t have the clock seconds on and I still have the issue.

Over at the Mac Observer web site they have a complete ( so far ) list of all known iOS 26.x bugs and fixes as well as a list for iPadOS 26.x bugs and fixes. I haven’t yet found one for MacOS yet.

They list 77…..SEVENTY SEVEN…known iOS bugs with fixes. 26 is an unmitigated disaster on all Apple platforms. If you’re able and haven’t yet upgraded to 26…go right now and sign up for a free Apple Beta Test account. After you do that turn off ALL automatic updates in Settings/General/Software Updates. Reboot or log back into your device and go back to Settings/General/Software Updates and look for the new toggle “Beta Updates”. Toggle that “On” and let it cycle for a second. You will then see a choice of Tahoe or Sequoia. Choose Sequoia. After a second or two you will see only Sequoia as a choice. That’s it . You’ll never see another nag screen for Tahoe until you turn off the “Beta Update” switch. You’ll only ever get Sequoia updates….not 26.

For those unfortunate enough to have either willfully upgraded or were forced by Apple here is the link to the Mac Observer page with all of iOS 26 fixes so far.

Here is the Mac Observer’s list of all iPadOS 26.x bugs and fixes. Still looking to see if they have compiled a MacOS Tahoe list.

F##k sake. Can’t they do extensive testing before pushing it out?
difficult to test every permutation even when you know all of them, I suspect there are setups in existence of which apple engineers never dreamed

Both M2 MBA and Studio M1 w/ Studio Display have the flickering issues. Add it to the list of Tahoe issues.

I reluctantly upgraded to 15.7.3 and will literally never “upgrade” again

macOS is as bad as windows now. no more quality control, theyre just shoving out features as fast as possible to appease shareholders

Apple’s full-time employee counts by year, per the company’s filings:
• 2024: 164,000
• 2023: 161,000
• 2022: 164,000
• 2021: 154,000
• 2020: 147,000
• 2019: 137,000
• 2018: 132,000

AND YOU HAD THAT 1 JOB!

I definitely see this on a non-studio display monitor when it's showing something middle-dark gray.
