I'm not sure I've ever even seen a 601... though I know they're out there :)

(I'm still having a personal crisis as a result of reaching 68040.)

There's quite a few - jefhatfield, Mr. MacMan, iJon, Sun Baked... I'm surprised you haven't seen any around...

Thanks for the "reinforcement" Mr. Anderson that we all have a looong ways to go... ;)

But what will it actually do for you? I thought it was much more fun being a pirate anyway :D

Yes. You have some serious soul-searching ahead :)

I'm guessing it has something to do with a personal experience nagromme had with a Macintosh Quadra 600/700/800.... Am I close?
No, I hated Macs in the Quadra days... started to be won over during the Power Mac phase. My crisis has more to do with realizing I have posted 3000+ messages on an anonymous forum concerned with rumors about a certain brand of electronics. (Ouch! Fresh stab of pain!)

See, that's kind of what it is for me as well - I'm an Engineer, so I like knowing how things work and yes, I'm definitely weird as well. ;)

Ah, gotcha - I thought maybe it was from a personal experience with the processor itself.

We just need to convince someone to take away Mr. Anderson's Mod staus or wdlove's Contributor status for a couple minutes so we can see what their true rankings actually are... ;)

To be honest, from what I see in the threads that I look at, I think that these two are well above the "norm".

I, for one, wish the contribution system would come back.. I have greenbacks that are burning a hole in my MR pocket.

Amen!

I would like to know what problems they had with the "old system of contributions" that made it impossible to contribute during a great time of need for new servers and the such.

Since most are 500+ to next level why the 2000 gap at 68040-601 and I would also like to know what comes after 601 and at what post 10000  or

That's basically what I asked before, I don't think there's a main reason why this is, but I'm not the person to ask...

Again, read the previous posts - sounds like Arn and Mr. Anderson are going to be secretive and tight-lipped about the next rankings, and what post count is required to acheive them - which I think is cool and bastardly, so I applaud them for that.

10,000 posts sounds like a good number for another ranking to appear, but we'll just have to wait and see!

As for what rankings would occur after 601, the 603 would be nthe next logical choice (assuming the 601+ doesn't count!) After that, (anyone correct me if I'm wrong here) there was the 603e/ev, the 604/604e, and then we would start getting into the 7400 series of processors (those were the first PowerMac G4s if I remember correctly...)

I read all the post just was hoping that the might tell sooner or later

I'll become a macrumors 601 if I post 632 more times after this post. I've been wanting to contribute ever since I became a macrumors 68040...

The G3 would come before the G4. G3 was a PowerPC 750, right?

Even though I'm curious too, I kinda want them to keep it a secret - it makes it more fun that way. ;)
