and at 50,000, 75,000 or 100,000 posts, one's rank could simply state, "intel inside"

By the time someone here reaches an x86 processor name, Apple will switch to PPC again. ;) :D

Then I guess you're 603 from 10000-15000 and 604 from 15000. We'll see soon enough. Mad Jew is just ~1400 posts from 10000. That should be done in a week or so...

:p ;)

For S&G, arn resets mad jew post count to 1. ;) :D

the 602 processor is not one i can think of that has been used in any mac,

I am not aware of a 602 processor either....

...so my guess, like most here, would be going from 601 straight to 603 at 10,000 posts, then to 603e somewhere after that,

...then on to the 604 at 15,000 posts, followed by a 604e somewhere after that

Yeah, the "e" variants could last only for a few posts, similar to the 65832 and 68010, with the 603 and 604 being the major rankings for 10k and 15k respectively.

the g3 could start, just guessing, at maybe 20,000 to 30,000 posts, followed by g3e, g3f, and g3fx,

...and then there are the whole family of g4 variants,

...and then finally the g5...but maybe on those high levels it's just g3, g4, and g5

Yeah, but keep in mind that the "G" series of processors is Apple's marketing name for them - the processors are actually the 750 (G3), 7400 series (G4) and the 970 series (G5), so I think in order to remain consistent MacRumors will probably just stick with the processor families, not the brand names. Further to that, eventually someone would hit a x86 ranking of some sort, not an "Intel" raking per se.

Just my thoughts.

We'd all complain and yell to get the Gayway and Geek threads out of wasteland to add all those posts back. ;)

And we'd listen to you and go right ahead and do that. Heck, its a new year, why don't we just open the wasteland for posting and add 2 counts per post while were at it :p

You could just be nice and set contributor donations go straight into my bank account. Same basic effect.

I really liked the April Fools game we had last year. I reckon we should have more of those games. It's those games that make MacRumors rankings fun IMO. :p

WTT: post count for Apple ware.

I think we'll be seeing more of that - and something that Dr. Q and I spend more than an hour on the night before :D

Having let his contributor status lapse, wdlove with 16,588 posts, is now revealed as a '604'.
Seems wdlove hasn't left us completely. :)
Here's to the Crazy Ones

wdlove renewed his contribution status quite some time ago. I'm surprised Lacero, you didn't notice this last week? :p

Renewing contribution status implies a concerted effort to log on. Hopefully he'll advance to posting again at some stage in the not-to-distant future. :)

This is correct - although he hasn't posted since back in November (I believe) he has been on the Forums (his last activity was December 28) and he did renew his Contributor status, as he is no longer a 604. So, he's still around, just not as actively as he once was - nothing wrong with that. :)

Well now we know....603 and 604....well will get there one day, if the site is still around....well sure hope so ;)

Well, not the first to be above a 601 - Mr. Anderson blew that one away a couple years ago me thinks. ;) Just the first to still have his processor ranking at the time, that's all. :)

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry Gold: Mozilla/6.0 (RIM; U; CPU BB OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1.7 Mobile/5F138 Safari/525.20)

I'm FINALLY a 601. I wonder if I'll be around in 5 years to reach 603 status...
