2nd round seedings of eliminated schools:
2. Duke
2. Georgetown
4. Pittsburgh
5. Notre Dame
6. Marquette
6. Oklahoma
6. Purdue
7. Butler
7. Miami
8. Mississippi State
8. UNLV
9. Arkansas
9. Texas A&M
11. Kansas State
13. San Diego
13. Siena
Average seeding: 7.25. In a perfect tournament, where higher seeded teams always win, it would be 6.5. The range of possible values over all possible outcomes in a tournament is 2.5 to 14.5. In the actual tournament this year, the range was 3.5 to 8.125 after the first round. Because there were only 3 upsets out of 16 games (19%) this weekend, the value was close to the maximum of its range.

Overall upsets so far, based on seedings: 10 out of 48 games, or 21%.

Well, I have 11 of the sweet 16, missed 5.
Still have all my final four, so that is a good thing. I have been reading some articles about the matchups, of course the rightups look like everything will be a battle (nearly everything anyway).
I just want UNC to WIN a scare, it seems the majic potion before winning the entire event.

GO HEELS

Not a very good slate of games tonight. Four blowouts, with the only interesting things being Davidson being the one administering the beatdown to Wisconsin, and the Stanford/Texas game was pretty tight until Stanford just completely stopped scoring midway through the second half. :( Lousy end to a really good season.

I like how both the men's Heels and the women's Heels are Numero Uno! And they are both playing Louisville today. It would be sweet to see the Heels sweep them.

at least there's the division 2 championship games on today. men on cbs, women on espn.

I'll take the underdog Davidson. What the heck.
Actually, the NCAA Mens Basketball Championship soon ending means the NCAA Mens Lacrosse Championships will soon be starting. Now there's a fun tournament.

It is possible that we could have the worst final four ever if all 4 number ones advance.

well i'm in secon din the pool I am in. i have 1 team out of the final 4

I had made the bracket about 2 days before the tourney started. I was rushing. I put down texas as the winner for memphis. but i thought i put memphis. so all this time i was rooting for memphis and was so happy. but then i saw my bracket and when i read texas i was like =O NOOO!

I would have the pool in the bag if i didn't make the mistake of putting down texas, when i wanted memphis!

but in the end, 94-90 UNC over ucla

Average seeding of the losers of the regional finals: 4.5

If Wisconsin had beaten Davidson, the average would have been either 2.25 or 2.75. Davidson's run of glory raised the average.

I predict that the average seedings of the losers in the semi-finals and finals will be 1.0!

Too bad about Davidson -- that was a great game. There are banners painted on bedsheets all over town congratulating the team. I've seen at least 50 of them.

However, my bracket's looking pretty good. I had six of the elite 8 and all four of my final four teams are still alive. Based on what I've seen, I think the UNC-Kansas winner will win the tournament.
