I think I already said that Clemson would get farther than Duke. Duke only has one game, and that's outside the perimeter. You shut that down, they lose. Case in point, last night.

MacNut, sorry about Georgetown, but it serves you right since you had them over UNC.

Up by so much at the half over Ark, I worry that UNC may be peaking early. It seems that championship teams face a close game in the first two rounds (based on memory not fact). I don't want them to get to the sweet 16, get behind and not handle it well.

Other than that, How 'Bout them HEELS!!!!!!

Actually I have Louisville over UNC, so we shall see.:)

Seriously though, Davidson? Who the heck are they anyways?

They almost beat UNC in the season opener, UNC won 72-68. Davidson was ranked at the end of the season and has the longest winning streak in the nation right now, somewhere around 24 games vs 12 for UNC/UCLA

I think it will be much harder for Butler than Davidson.
I live in Winston, I'm a Chapel Hill grad, my mom went to Duke, and other family that went to Davidson.
I love what Davidson is doing, and as long as UNC wins the whole thang, I want Davidson to go as far as they can.
Certainly will make Monday and the week entertaining for me.

Heh, heh.

Wow, that was some game, wasn't it? My wife is a Davidson professor and could care less about the NCAA tournament, but it's really quite cool to see them pulling the Cinderella act this year. I have them picked to win one more game, and I think that's all they *should* win. Any more than that and Davidson might as well be a state school.

So is anyone giving Washington State a chance?

Uh, yep! If they keep playing D like they have since the second half of their round 1 game. Slowing down Hansborough will be a challenge as always; unlike the Lopez twins, there's only one of him, so I like your odds a little better. :D

Does Stanford have a chance against Texas? I don't know if the Cardinal can overcome the quick, high-scoring guards of Texas. Marquette's guards were very good, but not as adept at shooting the three as Augustin and Abrams are.

2nd round seedings of eliminated schools:
2. Duke
2. Georgetown
4. Pittsburgh
5. Notre Dame
6. Marquette
6. Oklahoma
6. Purdue
7. Butler
7. Miami
8. Mississippi State
8. UNLV
9. Arkansas
9. Texas A&M
11. Kansas State
13. San Diego
13. Siena
Average seeding: 7.25. In a perfect tournament, where higher seeded teams always win, it would be 6.5. The range of possible values over all possible outcomes in a tournament is 2.5 to 14.5. In the actual tournament this year, the range was 3.5 to 8.125 after the first round. Because there were only 3 upsets out of 16 games (19%) this weekend, the value was close to the maximum of its range.

Overall upsets so far, based on seedings: 10 out of 48 games, or 21%.
