That may not work because people tend to disagree what Mac could be considered the best and worst.

Maybe custom ones but (despite being non-religious) I don't mind being called a demi-god.

OK as I use this site quite a lot I feel I should contribute (and I want a warm fuzzy feeling!). Does anyone know how international shipping of this stuff is handled?

i've seen several 'Status: macrumors 6502' users with no avatar, presumably because they are too lazy or don't know they can... but never a demi-god without an avatar.

And now you've met one... :D

I'm guessing that you're talking 'bout the mug, well I don't much about that but I know that PayPal/Amazon automatically do the currency conversion on the *Your currency here* to USD.

From this post onwards there are only 280 until I hit the 500th (From THIS post which is 220th).

Ah, the warm fuzzy feeling....;)

The names that are currently used for non-demigods are the actual processors used in Apple computers over the years.

6502 being the first processor and jefhatfield has the most posts for a non demi and he's a 601. Only arn knows where it goes from there.

The many misterious workings of MacRumors that rule our lives, hiding us from the horrible real world of PCs, and the various levels of membership.

We should make a movie about it: The Mactrix...

A quick update: I was charged $7 (USD) for deilvery via DHL Worldwide (the only option). This is meant to take up to 4 weeks!!!!! So total cost is $39 (which is about £25 at current rates).

let arn know the particulars - he'll make you a demi-god long before your mug arrives....

I'm not sure about this avatar thing at all, surely the whole point about posting here is to receive and give advice and opinion (yeah, like ars**oles, I know), and to have some fun in some of the less serious threads, I've got about 20 posts left to the 500 limit, and I don't plan on posting an avatar anytime soon, if you don't know me by post or PM, then a little bitty picture isn't going to define my personality any more.

I plan on contributing soon, but I think it's a shame there's no way to get the contributors access without the demi-god/godess thing, and yes, I understand how the bulletin board works:D

Well, this sounds right, but you know, there was a little experiment gone bad a while ago - maybe 2002 or 2001. It was the DGVPG and it had a very strange effect on the forums that no one expected.

Basically what ended up happening was that all the demi-gods, for some very stupid reason, decided to change all their avatars to the same one, thinking this would be fun. But what ended up happening was mass confusion. You couldn't tell who was posting by a quick glance at a thread. But more importantly everyone came to realize how much they relied on the visual clues of the avatars.

So I think it helps a bit and its also nice that not everyone has one, making the 100+ members who do stand out a little more. Also, by making it 500 post to get an avatar you've pretty much established yourself as a regular on the forums. That's why spamming to 500 is not approved and usually gets you in trouble.

I just bought a mug too, but will be happy just to support what is the best mac forum around (and to drink out of the cool glass if it arrives over here in one piece!)

Keep up the good work Arn!!

I am proud to pronounce that I have donated a digial piece of encrypted data which I hope MR will benefit from.

The warm fuzzy feeling is yet to kick in because it's only 7ºc outside....

Can a high-ranking official please inform me the whole MR hierachy thing?

There are moderators, banned people, demi-semi-half-final gods and etc.

And is "arn" the big one with an later-ego named "MacRumors"?

After lurking for a year, I've registered and purchased a mug.

I appreciate Arn's efforts to maintain a balance here between enthusiasm and reality. And I like stuff with a large handle for easy grasping.

Wow, you have such a more positive memory than i do :) the way i remember it, all the non-demis were pretty upset because we were being pointedly excluded from some 'group', and every other post someone had to mention it. it was very 'secret society' for a while, i think a lot of users shared my displeasure... tho i do realize the genuinely lighthearted reasons for doing it :)

IF you're debating the mug...

...I'm sittin' here bangin' away in Photoshop, enjoying a nice cup o' morning sludge in my MacRumors.com mug. It's a well made mug, for the record. You can microwave it without it turning into a massive heat conductor.

So suck it up and buy a d*mn mug already. Then you can be a hack Demi-Freak just like me.

:D

Thanks, Arn! Cheers, All!

Yes, talking about the mug. I know how to change currency - I live in the UK but do annual trip to the US for work.

Also, if you don't care about the mug, why are you posting in the mug forum? :D

I was being nice and since I had such a pivotal role in the whole thing, well, I'm partially to blame. But we had no idea how bad it was going to get and it was very interesting to see the effects the 'tars had on the forums.

So what are the rumors mentioned on the back? Arn already said the 970. I suppose the mini-tablet is there, too. How about the famous "iPods Tuesday" that went on for months?

If you go to the link and get to the store, there is a little blurb at the bottom with all the text.

I have been lurking for years and didn't register until right before I bought my first powerbook. My cash is on it's way. I have no problems supporting a site I enjoy. While I like the mug and the no adverts, I could live without the demi-god status. I would rather "make it through the ranks", but I guess the no avatar thing would be a decent substitute.
