I have thought of changing my single user license to a family and put my elderly parents on it so I could help them manager their passwords
I put my inlaws and my mom on this and it's great. My mom forgot her master password twice and I was able to get her access to her vault.
Hmm, mine is due for renewal in October and it would have been nice if they extended the same deal to existing customers. I've been using 1Password for over 10 years now, which might have merited a discount.
Worse case, just start a new subscription and transfer from your old account.

Interesting, why does a direct link to 1Password's giftcard page get routed through kqzyfj.com and from the looks of it injected with a referrer link...

https://1password.com/giftcards/

Nervermind, it's spelled out in the privacy policy.

This is the downside of MacRumors not being a subscription-only service I guess...

Bitwarden GUI interface is very ugly, it's reminds me Wordpress Dashboard or Windows 3.11. I prefer 1Password in that sense, is way better designed.

Also I trust more in 1Password than Bitwarden, I mean to upload my data to his servers. Yes I know I can install Bitwarden with Docker etc. locally but I don't have time for that.

It’s cross platform, not everyone in the family has Apple products. Also does Apple keychain store one time password for 2FA? I’m not sure.

Nope, Apple's Keychain does not handle 2FA tokens. Additionally (and the big reason I left Keychain for Bitwarden), Keychain doesn't handle Secure Notes anywhere but from a computer! That limitation is just silly.

As far as the comment someone else made about how "if you stop paying, you lose everything" - at least with Bitwarden, you can dump out your credentials into a JSON file*. I assume 1Password and LastPass also do this. So just periodically dump your credentials, save that file in an encrypted image (I've got a small sparseimage sitting in iCloud, actually), and you're golden. If you decide to switch, you've still got all your data - and it's still secure.

* Actually, you used to be able to do something similar with Keychain! But that feature got axed when Keychain moved to iCloud.

They HIDE it very well but you can BUY 1password software on their site. NOT via apple store without subscription. I used Dropbox as sync for years!!! no montly pay.

I still use the stand alone app. The only issue is they won't update the safari extension. So you have to use another browser. But it does work on mobile. It's a great product but personally I find the price a bit steep for me. I mostly have switched to iCloud Keychain for most logins. It's easy to get a password generator or just use one online if needed. You can store secure notes in notes and password protect them. Probably good enough.

Yea the problem with that is then you have to pay Dropbox if you have more than three devices because of Dropbox new limited device policy. Making it rather difficult for me to try to work around it.

I stopped using Dropbox when they pulled this shady stuff:

I actually switched to the subscription model right after this and never used Dropbox again.

Thanks that’s my struggle right now. I don’t mind 1passwords pricing. I’m just iffy about having my vault online (same with Dropbox but the chance of me getting attacked singled out is less likely). So decisions....

so what do you use now instead of Dropbox?

I use the subscription model and love it. This saved my mom a few times because she forgot her master password, and as the admin, I can help her reset it without her losing her data.
I use Mega for online storage
