So I'm taking the day off today from running - I'll probably get a few walks in to the park with the dog though. I have a 5k race tomorrow - probably in the rain  - in downtown St. Pete. I'm hoping to break the 23' barrier.

It was pretty tough at the 25-minute mark, there was a little gremlin saying "it's OK if you walk for 30 seconds, or maybe a minute...". At which point I actually sped up a little, just to fight him off. If I'd had to go another 5 minutes, he might have gotten me.

good job fighting him off ;)

WOW! Now that's a time to be beaten by! I knew you were going to post an impressive time but that's 1'06 faster! Not sure I can make much of that up..... I'm going to see how close I can get though!

I'm going for a 10k today to at least post a time, I'll be happing with something around 55mins so that I'll put me last of people who have done 10k but they only way is up after that!

thanks. i might actually bring that time down a little today at practice. we'll see though.

good luck with your 10k :)

don't worry about the rain, you can beat 23'

Came home in 49 mins something so that's 5 minutes faster than my expectation. I'll upload it tonight.

Yeah go for it Mr. Anderson we want to see sub 23' !

I did only one 10k last month, and not trying for time and managed a 50:19 - not great, but it means I might be able to do a 47 or so which would be good for me.

As for the 5k tomorrow, I'm just hoping its not a thunderstorm....

yeah, you can do 47...and you can do 22 for 5k :)

snowed in, mom won't let me leave. Going to be a long distance tomorrow.

hey, you can always walk around inside your house really fast.....:p

I'm going have to try and qualify for this 10k. It could get ugly if I have to do it on the treadmill. As much as I love the treadmill, I hate it the same. Looking forward to dry roads once spring comes.

I'm leaving Florida in a couple weeks - that's going to have a huge impact on my running....bleh.

me wants in!! I got my nike+ for christmas but only two days ago actually got my shoe pouch to use the sensor with non-nike+ shoes and only yesterday calibrated the sensor. :)

For the record, I did 5 on 2/1 and 6.5 on 2/2 (no data on nike+.com for 2/1 because I got the pouch that afternoon and the data for 2/2 is off because the sensor wasn't calibrated at first and didn't count the 800m I ran while calibrating).

So anyway, can the admin add me to the group? My username on Nike+ is QCassidy352. Looking forward to it! :)

Well, I will try to log my miles on here, since my Nike + didn't come today as promised.
Today I ran in the coldest weather I have ever run in before. It was a 10k road run, but not really a race. It was 13ºF, 30 mph winds, wind chill was about -15ºF. I ran a 43:22, not really what I wanted, but I blame the cold. If it was 40ºF, I am confident I could've done under 40 min. My time wasn't bad compared to the rest of the field. 1st place ran a 36. After that, 2nd was 41, my friend was 3rd with 41:20, 4th was right after him, and I was 5th.

Feb.
1st- 5 miles - 41 minutes
2nd- 4-5 miles - 35 minutes
3rd- 10k road run so ~ 6.2 miles - 43:22

hmm, wait. Maybe my username isn't qcassidy352. Is that just my screenname? Do you have to invite me by my email address? And is Mr. Anderson the admin of this?

I am not the admin of this thing - liketom does the mile, distance, and 10k and XIII seems to be in charge of the 5k. I'll add their PM links to the first post in this thread and update the stats later this weekend.

And for those posting their mileage/times etc. (vader, QCassidy, and any others) we can't add any info to the Nike+ stuff - you have to have the sensors and log in to nikeplus.

Any way they could be added into my totals once I get it (for the competition, I know they can't be added with nike)? I was supposed to have it before feb, but there was a shipping problem, so I still haven't gotten it.

Thanks Mr. Anderson. And I know that you can't add the stats - I just wanted it there for the record. ;)

You can add them yourself, but they won't get added to the challenge stats.

You can always taunt the members you might have beat saying you would have had more miles if you had your sensor sooner :p

Did 5k jogging in about 33 min.

walked/jogged 10k in one hour 44 min or so to make up the distance I owed.

Set new distance record with 10.25k and a new 1 mile record, but not sure what the time was on that yet.

Wow, we have a lot of distance in such a few short days! I'm off to try a 10k today and see how that goes - I managed a 22:11 for my 5k yesterday, although the official time was just over 23 :(

It was such a weird race - there was a 5k and 10k run and they ran both races at the same time with the 5k runners turning left at one point to go to the finish line and the 10kers going straight up the road and back for another 3 miles. There were about 1200 runners and it took me a while to get over the damn start line - that's where I pushed the button on my iPod. Then it went up a slight hill for .5 miles and the finish line was up hill for 300 yards as well - bleh - I hate that. But I did ok - 8th in my age group and 82 over all.

I'm definitely going to do some interval training and get my endurance and speed up. The 3rd place in my age group was just under 20 minutes and I know I can do that sometime this year....

emphasis on long, though....

and running in crowds is a pain, but at least the shirt was very nice this time.

I am going to attempt to jog an entire 10k, but definitly at least jog the first 5k.

Edit: You guys embarrassed me for that 10k time I posted lol. I am about 40 minutes in last place.

Hmm... now it's been more than a few days... anybody know why/how my best mile has been registered in the "Bestest Best Time 1 Mile" without any distance has been registered in the "MacRumors Feb Rumble"...?!?

Can i play?

Am in the UK and training for the London Marathon

Did an 8 mile run today but pulled a calf muscle so in a fair bit of pain :(

Gonna take it easy this week and see how i get on
