I am very impressed with how steady your pace was – you kept a constant speed throughout the distance, never once dropping speed due to fatigue.

:D

I may join you guys next time around when I'm more comfortable with running. I do enjoy going out, especially on trails, but running has been way harder for me than riding my bike.
Here is my gear list:
8GB 2nd Gen iPod Nano
Nike+ Sensor (obviously)
Nike+ Armband: Very comfortable. I wish there was a cutout for the screen though.
Marware Sportsuit: Great way to get around using the Nike+ shoes.
New Balance M872 Yellow: Amazing shoe, very light and comfortable. I love the curled laces that help keep the shoes from loosening. This are trail shoes though so if you stick to the pavement look elsewhere. These shoes have a nice toe guard and I've yet to have anything foreign (like pebbles) enter the shoe.

It's too bad I didn't have the Nike+ sensor when I first started running a month ago! I've only used it once so far but it's a great product.

This is sort of off topic but is the Nike running kit only good for running miles or will it still register if you go on, say an elyptical machine or a stationary bike.

No, it won't give you an accurate distance reading when you're on an elliptical machine or bicycle. It works very well for walking, however, so you don't need to be a 'runner' use the Sport Kit or join a challenge.

Wow, this seems to be going well.

I'll post my (Flowbee customized) 10 minute run/walk this afternoon. Everyone better be out running right now.:p

I'm going this evening! :D I hope it stops absolutely pissing it down by then though.

Was all pleased that I was topping the list (well, only because I was the first to run!), only to be beaten about half an hour later!

Gee, next time I'll wait until a few hours after my run before I upload. :D

This is exciting. I don't get my nano until I reach another goal. At the rate I am going I expect to see it sometime in December, but we'll see. I should just get the damn thing and work harder towards the goal. I want it so bad and now I am more excited since I see you CAN use your regular shoes with the sensor. I was told no.

i really wish this thing worked with the regular pods. blah

Me too. I realy hope they work with the new shuffles when they come out, as I have one ordered. :)

I really suck at running, though. Funny, though, as I can do the bike like it's my job, but I can only run a few blocks before getting tired. That, and the shin splints don't help either. :(

Sorry to dash your hopes, but the Shuffle doesn't have a standard iPod dock connector... so you won't be able to attach the Sport Kit 'receiver' to the Shuffle. :(

Shin splints can be avoided by making sure you have proper running shoes and starting out easy with a run/walk program. You need to gradually acclimate your bones and joints to the impact of running. When I started out, I would run 2 minutes and walk 4 minutes, repeated 4 more times for a total of 10 running minutes over the course of a half hour. If it sounds too easy, well... that's the point. Each week I would increase my running minutes and decrease my walking minutes. by the end of seven weeks I was able to comfortably run 30 minutes 4 times per week. I was 38 years old when I started running.

See the "5 Tips" link in my signature for more info.

I went for a crazy run tonight in the torrential rain — wasn't for as long as I'd hoped for, but was wicked fun and was my fastest yet. :)

Hope everyone else is getting on well.

Man I don't have a nano yet and I'm not even a runner but I'm tempted to get one and start just to be a part of this! I confess, I like competition. :D

So, 30 bucks and a nano?

yeah, and either nike plus shoes or one of the methods of attaching talked about in this thread and on podophile (or elsewhere).

for those who don't have the nike plus shoes... have you had accurate/good results? i'm thinking of asking for a nano and sport kit for the holidays pretty much solely for running purposes. only geeks like me/us would get inspired to exercise because of computer gadgets. hah
