Don't get distracted by what other people are running.
6 Months ago I couldn't run out of sight on a dark night.

40 metres was my maximum distance, that was it.
I'd be out of breath and exhausted.
Just kept doing what I could.

Slowly I got stronger (and lighter).
The june challenge is challenging myself, nobody else.
It's impossible, but my challenge is to run 300 kilometres by 30th June.

From 40 metres to 300 kilometres in a month:eek:

It's all about you and what you can do.
Welcome to SilentPanda & Bogie.......Keep on rollin':D
(desmonator)

Well, I'm going to have my new (refurbished) nano and all the nike iPod stuff at the end of the week, and I'd like to run with y'all, but I am really out of shape (6'8" 300 even) and seeing these guys going more in two days that I'll probably go in a whole month is a bit daunting. Maybe I oughta' be looking for the chubby checkers league lol.

Don't let that stop you. I almost passed out after a quarter mile. Just because some of these people are "running with the bulls" every day doesn't mean we can't be "running with the snails"! :D

Okay, you won me over lol. How do I add myself to the monthly challenge? :D

Send a PM to Ziwi with your Nike+ ID that you made when you registered your Nike+ thing. You and I can just hang out at the bottom of the challenges and make sure nobody is following them or something... :)

Been there... the nice thing is that you then have the best chance of improvement... ;)

Thrawn - where are you? Need some more runners out there. Right now my master list is 42 folks who have run or asked to be a part of it - this month so far only 11 folks have logged miles and this is the 6th day...

I thought that the everybody wins challenges of the 100, 250 and 500 would be a nice incentive based on the way the monthly challenges are going, but it is not gaining more participation. Any ideas anyone?

I think people are intimidated. But folks! I'm only 0.66 miles into it! Surely anybody with two working legs can catch up to me. C'mon! Give me some virtual running buddies! :)

I'll be trying to log miles daily in two days when I get my stuff! Maybe I'm shooting for the moon here but I'm aiming to be in the top 10 this month! That's right, I'm coming after ya' Panda lol. :D

Psssh... I'm already 2/3rds a mile ahead of you. There is no way you can catch up!

(man I'm sore!)

yeah, i don't know how to get more runners.....maybe tell people they can walk/jog/run? and that they don't have to be fast to join?

Well, my nano should be here today and I have my nike ipod kit. The only thing I'm missing is my shoe pocket but that may come today too!

well i just did 60 miles this past week....and i'm still down by 17.5 miles! ....i'm probably on pace for more than last month, which was a record......and i'm losing big time:eek:

well i finally went to the track and tested my new sensor (have had it for a few months now)....and it said one lap around was 0.22 miles.....instead of 0.25!

so after calibrating it, it now says 0.25. i think i've been cheated out of a lot of miles with this sensor.....(even though i'm sure none of ya'll will care)

I do care about people losing miles/km's, especially long runs vanishing.
Calibrating should be the first thing you do with the kit.

You got me worried!
Tomorrow morning (It's friday night here)I'm going to check my calibration, see how it is.
mine was recording 400 metres for a lap of a 400 metre track.....in december 06.

well you might be alright. my other sensor was from july 06, one of the first ones (i guess). but it never hurts to check

btw, i think my nano is about dead. i guess i'll start a troubleshooting thread about it though

I've noticed that the calibration seems to be very tuned to a specific pace. That is, when I first calibrated my sensor I was averaging about 8:30 per mile. Now I'm doing about 7:45 - 7:50 on most runs. As a result, my distances are off.

I should probably go recalibrate, but based on my experience, I'm not losing that much - may .1 or .2 miles over 5. So if I were to go 100 miles in a month, which would be a ton for me, I'd lose out on maybe 2-4 miles. Pretty small percentage. Plus, sometimes I will run slower, so I'd rather not get "extra" miles when I do that.

i can believe that. but with mine, i was losing .25 miles every 2 miles i ran. so if i went 100 miles, i'd lose around 12.5 miles.....and last month i did 207 miles. so i lost over 24 miles of running.

but hopefully this sensor will not mess up.
