MacRumors Reaches 1,000,000 Posts

The number 1,000,000 is only important because most of us have 10 fingers. Mathematicians might argue that powers of two are more beautiful so we should have waited until 1,048,576 to pat ourselves on the back. And then again at 2,097,152. Let's see... what year will we reach 4,294,967,296 (that's 2^(2^5)) posts?

I would much rather the user's description (newbie, regular, 68000, etc.) reflect the amount of time that had passed from when they first registered, rather than be based on number of posts. And I'd be much happier to know that MacRumors had been around for a long time than to know that the forums have had a ton of posts.

That is so ST,000,000,PID. I think it's important because ... well it's huge. And it's got all those pretty zeros.

Type "1,048,576 in base 2" into G,000,000,gle and you'll see that you get even more pretty zeroes!

Don't see anything of significance in any of those sites that MR doesn't have. My thinking on the whole thing is, if you don't like the site, no one forces you to come here. Congrats to both Arn and crew and to edesign, heres to another 1,000,000 great posts!

Actually I was referring to sweetaction's comment which you quoted, and then to a lesser, degree, your own statement about new polls. And for the record, yes, the polls for the Avatar Contest are open and we have been encouraged here in this thread to vote - however this is different than your initial statement regarding the daily MacPolls being changed, so don't try and backtrack. 😛 😉 The polls for voting in the Avatar contest and the daily MacPolls are 2 very separate things.
