Not only that... People in Germany have a hard time registering here. One of the most popular mail domains (@web.de) is not accepted here. I had to make a gmail account to register here.
Also I thnik some people just want to read the news here.(Like I have been doing for a long time)
The web.de domain is no longer blocked.

Congratulations

Well Done to the macrumors team for a great and informative website.

Keep it up and good luck for the future.

Man I was just a little kid on a PowerPC 6100/60 when I first visited MR! My how the time has flown!

Check out this link to catch a glimpse of what the site first looked like when I started visiting it! I didn't create a forum account until a few years later (2003).

I love the old retro look in 2000 - 2002. Arn, to celebrate the enormous success you have had, you should revert the theme back to the early days for 24 hours!

Thanks for posting those links. It's pretty amazing to go back and look at some of those posts. From a struggling company to the top of the world in a little over 10 years.

cheers to MR and Apple

I remember joining in Nov 2002. I need to post more! At the time, I was uber excited about OS X and the new white iBooks. I worshipped the little fold-out brochure that was available from CompUSA. Aww... good times!

Congratulations!!! It is too bad though that you have to watch over the death of a cutting edge computer company and its morphing into a fly by night fad toymaker with a bubble in the bottom line that should shortly be sending Apple the way of the frisbee and slinky when it pops. For Jobs' "strategy" is obviously far more than merely abandoning the computer division and Apple's power high ticket user base.

Congrats to Arn and all those responsible for Macrumors becoming such a success. I have been following Macrumors since 2001 and joined the forums in 2003 and I have for the most part appreciated Macrumors and its growth. I am a little disconcerted about the loss of that small community feeling that Macrumors used to have, or for that matter what Apple used to have.

On another note it seems that the Macrumors community has been getting much younger or perhaps I am just getting older. :( When I started following Macrumors I was only 19 and everyone in the forums seemed to be much more knowledgeable and older than myself by at least a half decade or more. It seems that the average age of forum members has decreased with growth. The community consensus has also changed over time. In the beginning this community was mostly made up of the most loyal and some may say most neurotic "Apple fanboys". I sorta miss those days:(

Wow, that's some amazing growth at/after the iPhone launched! Things have certainly changed from back when this place was totally centered around Macs (with the occasional iPod story...). I suppose this is reflective of Apple's change in focus toward mobile devices.

Macrumors 2004

Even back in 04 you'd find around the same amount of negatives per post, regardless of how positive the news was. Trolls have long lifespans.

Actually, trolls are essentially immortal. It's amazing how many threads you can find that got "woken up" after months or years by someone feeling a pressing need to respond to a troll.

Great site. I read daily, but rarely post. Looked it up: I joined in January 2002, but have only 23 posts. Congratulations and thanks to Arn and the MacRumors team!

And let's not forget to thank all the trolls. Their belligerence certainly adds to the fun. Thank you, trolls.
