Lurking is a very interesting phenomenom. Is it shyness? Is it just refusal to give your email to a website you don't really trust? Is it laziness?

Not only that... People in Germany have a hard time registering here. One of the most popular mail domains (@web.de) is not accepted here. I had to make a gmail account to register here.
Also I thnik some people just want to read the news here.(Like I have been doing for a long time)

Congrats on your milestone

I've been a webmaster and administrator on several mega-forums and can appreciate all the hard work it requires. I've been visiting MacRumors daily for years now. Usually a couple of times a day just to see what's new on the home page. It's one of my daily goto sites. Its no-nonsense style of news reporting without all the overwhelming ads and self-promotion of other tech sites make it a winner. However, I had never even noticed the Buyer's Guide in the tabs at the top until so many users mentioned it in the thread here today.. so thanks for the tip! I look forward to checking it out.

Congrats on another milestone!

Fantastic stuff everyone at MacRumors.

And special thanks to all the admins Doctor Q, Knox, longofest, Mudbug, WildCowboy, xUKHCx and of course Arn.

I stopped being "active" in the forums a while ago, but I come to macrumors every day. I do miss the discussions though. Maybe I need to come back around and check things out. I can't believe how many people there are now!

Think of how many other sites that have come and gone in this time too. I still miss AtAT... :(

Congrats!

Oh Yeah?

Not looking to rain on your parade but seriously the quality of the postings is in direct correlation to the rapid increase in membership.

I have stated this before - you need to manage your membership to ensure the quality remains consistent.

You mean that the quality of the postings is in direct NEGATIVE correlation to the rapid increase in membership.

Glad that Macrumors is growing along with Mac usage. Tiger got me hooked with OSX and even though for a while because of lack of funds I had to go back to XP, I'm back and loving every minute of it.

One of the most visited websitesin my bookmarks. Well deserved :)

I stopped posting quite a while back, but still check in regularly to get the mac news. This is a great site and the admins can be proud of their efforts.

I can't help but wonder though - is this now a full-time job for Arn, or does he still make use of his medical qualifications :)

Mobile

I was MacRumors before MacRumors was cool.

:)

Now, with half a million forum members, seems like it might be a good time to implement a new Forum layout/skin which is more iOS friendly. I am amazed that this forum is one of the last apple related sites without a nice iOS formatted version...

:)
