I'd be curious to hear theories about what led to the bump in posts per day during the year 2008, compared to the gradually increasing number from year to year.

One word : iPhone.

Congrats on the 10M posts. Wow when I joined in 2005 it was only a bit over a million..

You've come a long ways MR.

Congrats MR!!!:D
I have gone to this site everyday since joining. Apple really took off when they switched to Intel. Best place for info on Macs!

Congrats!

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of hardware does it take to run this place? Looks like the forum runs on php+mysql, there are 438,000 members, the front page must get millions of hits, and it's always very responsive.

of the 11 negatives that were made what you doing here then if this place is negative congrats arn and co

Congratulations MacRumors! This website deserves my respect (and my homepage) for its excellent contribution to the rumor scene! Thanks Arn and co. for making such a great website. :)

I was thinking the iPhone, but that was actually announced in summer 2007. Still, it could have been its increasing popularity (and the ensuing greater popularity of Mac as well as the introduction of iPod touch) ... or just a greater number of people who are interested in Macs than ever before. :D

It's funny looking back at your old posts isn't it?

My first post is about how I won't be getting the iPhone when it comes out.

I've had every generation of the iPhone and couldn't live without it ;)

10 million posts

Starting to get up there. Good stuff.

But nowhere near the big boys, like dpreview - 28,293,232 posts - if you dig cameras.

Certainly Arn and the mods deserve the growth/success that the site has seen in recent years.

The community as a whole has gone down the drain, though. People are generally more short-tempered and inconsiderate than in the early years. I suppose this is the price we've paid for expansion.

But congratulations, nonetheless.

Awesome

I've been a member for quite a while now, mostly just lurk, but I do read the news articles every day. The concise nature of the rumors and the professionalism of arn and everyone else have made this the best Apple fan site.
