I bet whoever wrote that isn't laughing so much now, eh :D
Nah, haters can never admit that they were wrong.

They'd just blubber about how the later generation iPods are why it REALLY took off, and that they were right when they said that in 2001, because the FIRST gen iPod was kind of crappy, and it wasn't hugely successful until the 4rd generation in late 2004 and 2005. (Which wouldn't entirely be wrong — it just wouldn't be admission of their short-sightedness, either.)

It'll be the same with the iPad, too, even though by any reasonable estimation it's already a hit. I can see it now: "But but, no, the 2012 iPad was when it really took off, because they had added, pressure sensitivity Gorilla glass and the 24 hour battery."

Congrats!

This site has made being a mac owner more of a joy, which is really saying something!

Well done to Mac Rumors! I've been a member for quite a while (but hardly ever post!), although I probably read the news articles almost every day. Here's to the next ten million.:D

Wow, that is a low post count and still a Newbie with 15 posts after almost 4 years.

In my case, I lurked for about a year before I joined. After I joined, I didn't post much. Then just caught the bug and started to post and now post regularly.

So you never know. Who knows, you may start posting regularly. :)

User 50548 reporting to duty! :D

Congrats to all involved..! And remember, MR: if you ever need the disinfestation advice of an Apple fanboy, feel free to contact me ;)

MS IS DEAD. DELL IS DEAD. AND SO IS GOOGLE.

GO APPLE!
:D

The award goes to...

Congratulations!

I have been following the site since 2005 or 2006 and a lot changed - not just with Macrumors but with Apple too.

Let's also remember the ones who couldn't be here anymore. Some of them died :( or have wives now  or just got bored with all sorts of things  .

Finally, I thank the team of moderators (most of them do a very good job) and the contributors.

Probably some whiner complaining about how the next-gen iPhone was ugly or that it didn't have enough features for them to upgrade to.

You know, the same as 95% of the posts here. Some blathering idiot who didn't have the foresight to buy AAPL at a split-adjusted $45 in early 2005, despite being a self-professed fanboy. Or didn't even have the guts to buy at $238 a week ago.

Yes, that clown.

Way to celebrate, buddy!

Party crashing comes to mind... 10m posts after there are still people who don't know that 'idiot' is specifically listed as an insulting term, therefore being punishable with a ban.

Are you boasting because you invested at those times? Why wait till 2005? Any clown could see that AAPL was going to skyrocket in late 2001 with the iPod. My friends father bought it for 8 dollars a share, what a smart bastard he was.
That's nice, but we're not talking about what your friend's father did. Is it boasting? No more so than listing which pieces of Apple hardware you own in your signature.

Here are my main points. If you buy AAPL stock, there is a very good chance that it will completely outperform the S&P 500. There is a very good chance that you will make so much money off of it, that it would cover every single Apple purchase you made during the time you were a shareholder. That's right, you earn a "dividend" in Apple products. When I cash out, I will walk away with a pile of cash, plus everyone else will have paid for my Apple product purchases.

Also, owning AAPL shares gives you a mindset of what Apple does to increase shareholder value. You will be okay with their business plan. You will be okay with their high-margin hardware. You will be okay with their vertical integration.

And lastly, once a year, you can tell the board of directors if you think Apple's senior management team is doing a good job and they are required by law to record your proxy ballot.

You are free to purchase AAPL right now. Some analysts have set a one-year target estimate of $350. That's about +50%. How many other equities will return the same?

Congrats arn that's awesome. This is the first site I go to in the morning to check in :)
