I think the reason they launched the colourful iPhone 5c in plastic is so they can launch the iPhone 6 in a range of anodised aluminium colours like the current iPod touch. That way they get to seperate the iPhone business into two product lines: more affordable plastic versions and more premium aluminium versions. Both in a range of colours.

It's a strategy they've successfully implemented in other product lines such as the MacBook with the MBA and MBP.

I will be most interested to see if they drop the current "numbers" for "names" like Mini, Air and Pro. Maybe they'll come up with a new set of names like the iPhone 5c renamed the iPhone Play and the iPhone 5s/6 renamed the iPhone Pro.

I simply do not understand what benefit a curved display will ever have for a mobile phone. Seems silly

It is silly. I had the Galaxy Nexus, and they marketed the curved display big time (although never gave a good reason why it was an advantage). It was just different and cool. I won't lie, I bought into the hype.

After you use it for a day, you forget it is curved at all. It really made no difference, and I really didn't see any advantage or disadvantage to it.

The only rumor I have ever been 100% sure of:

IF Apple introduces a larger iPhone (and I hope they do) it will be in addition to a falgship model of their "normal sized phone"

Pay more and get a bigger screen, but they are pretty much identical. Just like with the new iPads.

I made an account just to say this:

You should be an author here.

I want a slightly bigger screen.

Slightly? 4.7 inches is about 10% larger (diagonally) than 4.3 inches (on my Android phone), and 5.7 inches would be over 32 per cent larger. Compared to the current iPhone 5, the 5.7 inches is 42.5 per cent larger diagonally. That translates to even more area.

Better battery life?

As always! Better yet, allow users / owners to replace their own batteries.

No way. The "tomorrow will be like today" prediction is the right one most of the time; too bad it's boring and doesn't draw page views.

Anyway, my prediction: Same 5" screen, but brighter or something. More battery life. Thinner. Industrial design will be an evolution of the current look and feel. Better camera, 3 LED flash. 16GB, 32GB, 64GB options.

Tomorrow will be like today? Stagnation?

Those 16GB, 32GB, 64GB options can be achieved by allowing customers / owners to use their own micro-SD cards.

And the current iPhone screen is not 5 inches; it is 4 inches, and the overall height is 4.87 inches.

A roundup... Ten months early? Seriously?

This is the way for customers to voice their opinions and influence what features will be included in the next version of the iPhone.

A post of this manner seems a little silly this early. But I am looking forward to a bigger screen, I do have Android envy when I see people with nice big screens. But Android itself is insufferable. Give me a 5"-6" iPhone and I'll be happy happy!

No, Android is not such a bad system. Don't be a snob. Some of the apps foist upon us - with no option to remove / uninstall, clog the operations.

Apple will
--Introduce new larger phone, with moniker iPhone 6 Pro
--Existing size phone is maintained, but takes on moniker, iPhone 6 Air

AND

--Release larger 13" iPad with moniker iPad Pro
--Current iPad has already been named iPad Air

Maybe we also see an iPhone Mini?

I really hope they don't jump on the bigger screen bandwagon. I don't want to have to hold a 42inch flatscreen TV up to my ear, just to make a phone call. If I wanted a bigger screen, I would just use an iPad. Phones should be highly portable, pocketable and stylish... not big, brash and clunky like those horrible Samsung monstrosities.

I would much prefer Apple to remove the bezel around the screen, making the entire front of the device into the display (and the whole phone a little smaller overall). Touch ID could be integrated into screen itself and the home button could be activated by a press on one of the edges of the screen. Throw in double speakers and mics and you could use it either way up.

They could also make it virtually unbreakable using Sapphire... and waterproof, if they really want to cheer me up. :D

Too soon junior. I'm pretty sure Apple themselves don't know what the iPhone 6 will consist of.

Apple: Give me (and others) a ~5" screen and I'll come back from my Nexus devices without even thinking about it. No questions asked.

Bigger screen I get. But a faster chip? Faster than the A7? What for?

On the other hand 2gb or RAM and storage starting at 32gb would be nice, and prices on both have come down a lot ....

That would be way too much fragmentation :D
Apple tried so hard simplifying iPad to be using one single resolution just to be fragmented a year from now .. Hmmm

I'd love a bigger iPhone screen.. 1366x768 display at 4.5" will be comfortable and would still be 326ppi.

So you want an iPhone that looks like an iPod touch.

Why not?

It use to look like the iPod a few generations back. It would keep everything uniform. It would also make the device more stronger, just like the iPhone 5c back shells.

It's not as silly as it sounds.

iOS 8

I'd like to think that it would run iOS 8 - this will be a really 'usable' user interface.

maybe there is a thread about it already - I'm sure someone will point me to my error while ignoring the realities iOS 7.

PLEASE NO.

Maybe in 9 months. That mockup looks like crap too, so let's not get all talkity about it until it looks real.

It's MacRUMORS.

I can't see a curved screen happening. What's even the advantage of that?

Oh my goodness. I entirely forgot that iPods existed. That form factor looks a bit less appealing now for an iPhone. Ha. Or it's just the colors turning me away. I don't know.

6 is the one

I happily passed on all the iPhones that came before the 6. These 5's aren't lighting the world afire because everyone knew that to wait a mere year would give them something truly disruptive (by Apple's standards). Everything since 2010 has basically been different versions of the 4.
