It took Apple how many years to implement cut and paste and a useless "Taller" screen?

That "useless taller screen" is finally a 16:9 screen like almost every other phone on the market.

And frankly... I like it.

I picked up a friend's iPhone 4S the other day and it felt like I was looking through a peephole. :p

I feel like the only person that wants an option to purchase the iphone at its original dimensions, back when I could use it with ease with one hand.

You're definitely not the only one. I like to travel light with small devices… that's why you'll see me with a Retina iPad Mini and an iPhone 4S. If the rumors are true, I'll buy an iPhone 5S right before the 6 releases and use it as long as I possibly can.

its size obviously. Real men only use things that are big. Read what you will about what that says about confidence.

In all seriousness, I hope they don't make it bigger. The 5 is already pushing it for me. If its bigger, I am getting a 5S and sticking with it until the iPhone mini comes out. Also, how are they going to make it bigger and keep it retina? Change the resolution again? What a PITA for developers

Real men only use things that are big? Well then I guess the millions of male iPhone users out there aren't "real men".

To my eyes it's a very feminine looking product (long and slender) You may think different which is ok :). Everyone's tastes differ.

I agree. And the OS look is feminine as well. I feel that iOS 6 was more neutral and classy, where iOS 7 is very retro/80's trendy.

I keep hoping for Apple to give us the choice of a BIG screen too. Anything between a Nexus 5 and Galaxy Note 3 would be perfect.

I don't get people's complaints about fitting it in pockets, unless you're always wearing really tight skinny jeans (I never have, and never will).

One handed use is another story, but I find that it all has to do with what you're used to and I can adjust the phone position in my hand to reach everywhere. I rarely use the phone one handed; I don't walk and text, drive and text, etc. I keep my eyes where I'm going. If I must do so, I use the dictation function for text and Siri (when it works).

But because of the small screen, I still have to use two hands to see what's on the screen (by zooming a lot)

I would've wanted that pocketable tablet or phablet from Apple. However, I'm tired of waiting and are already shopping for a new phone (can't take the 4s anymore). So for me, it's a tossup now between Nexus 5, Galaxy Note 3, and HTC One Max.

So maybe in 2 years when my contract's up, Apple will have "de-kiddified" iOS and is offering a larger size in at least one iPhone model. But by then I may have switched ecosystems. Time will tell.

I have big hands and can barely use the iPhone 5 with one hand, I really hope it doesn't get bigger. Or at least there's a different sized option. Curved display would be nice though, and a new processor as always will be cool.

I don't think your hands are as big as you think they are. My hands every bit of average and I have no problems using my iPhone 5 with one hand.

It is surely time to increase the iPhone's screen size. I have played with a note and hated the size at first.... Now I love it! If it goes in my front pocket (the note does easily) then I'm good to go. There will always be an option for those of you with girly, tiny hands but my big handed friends and I want to stretch out our fingers in giant iPhone bliss!
Bring on the bigger iphone apple because the world and I are ready!

I would like to see electromagnetic induction charging, completely sealed unit, with waterproof microphone/speakers. Removal of all legacy "wired" connexions, as these simply should not be needed with the latest wifi/bluetooth standards.
You're ready to pay the super high price that phone would require?

If you tell me you can barely use the phone one handed you DON'T have big hands. I can easily use the iPhone with one hand and I consider my hands big.

Problem is one handed compact sized smartphone is crap nowadays.
Says who? The 3.5" of my iPhone 4 was perfect for how I used it. Maybe some people like to have their phone fit in their pocket when they wear something else than cargo pants?
So if eventually Apple goes with 4.5 to 5" iPhone, I believe you have nowhere to go for sub 4" display unless you're going with sub $200 Android or stick with current iPhone. But again someday you'll give up and buy a new phone so you're out of options. Screen is getting bigger and it's inevitable.
So that's why 17 inch laptops are the only models available nowadays?

Just ten hours after this thread was started there's already over 11,400 page views. That's an excellent indicator of how many people want Apple to build a modern relevant iPhone, instead of milking the same 4 year old phone.

As to why these rumors are appearing so soon after the 5S launch is a testimony to the fiercely exciting new Androids that have Apple in a tizzy trying to keep up their usual plethora of headline "news".

Prove him wrong then. If the iPhone goes to the sizes suggested in this rumor article, what ~3.5" phone are you going to buy that isn't a cheap android phone?

Sure. Can I borrow your time machine?

When Apple released the 17-inch MacBook (or the 27-inch iMac) I don't remember the smaller screen model being discontinued.

I hope for a bigger screen as well.
Maybe 4.7 screen seems identical, but also i d like to see 2 gb ram and a faster proccesor!
Thenn i ll say bye bye to my iphone 5 and i ll buy that monster :D

If they made the iPad 16:9 it would be useless too.

The only thing that helped by making the screen taller is the iAds fit better other wise wanted a screen that was wider and taller.

I like an iphone 6 with the old iphone 4 size only 2 mm wide each side and with a 5" screen. all in that small package.

and with half the thick :D.

I don't mind a marginal increase in performance like a 30% more than the 5s but the right size and a big screen are things we need.

Well then give me one, just one example of a brand new, 2013 smartphone model which comes with 3.5" AND considered high end, having a good performance, build quality, and overall great experience?

I thought Apple was almost done with 3.5" iPhone? You see the one and only model you can pick up now is the good old 4S and you know it will be EOL-ed next year, along with 30 pin dock products.

And when that happens then what? You no longer can buy a phone which fit in your cargo pants pocket from Apple. Maybe Samsung etc. will keep making smaller phones but as I said it would only be a mid or low end product.
Just like 17" laptops, smaller screen on a phone is getting obsolete. Sooner or later Apple needs to catch up and I'll happily embrace it. Eventually my 4S will need to be replaced and I would do it ONLY if iPhone is getting bigger :D

Oh I agree... the iPad should be 4:3

But 16:9 is great for phones.

I don't use any apps with iAds... so I simply get more screen for content :D

BTW... Apple made the screen "taller" once... to finally get it to 16:9

You don't have to worry about any changes to the iPhone's aspect ratio anymore.

If Apple makes a bigger iPhone... it will be taller and wider to remain 16:9

You keep comparing phones to laptops. They weren't the same the first time, they aren't the same now and they won't be the same should you make the comparison again.

If you're going to compare them, then lets keep it apples to apples. Do you think Apple is going to take the 4S and update it's internals to be current? That's what they do to laptops. Even today, you can't get an up-to-date iPhone with a 3.5" screen, what makes you think it will happen when the iPhone 6 is released?

The way I see it, your options are going to be limited to using a very old iPhone or using a very cheap Android phone.

I happily passed on all the iPhones that came before the 6. These 5's aren't lighting the world afire because everyone knew that to wait a mere year would give them something truly disruptive (by Apple's standards). Everything since 2010 has basically been different versions of the 4.

Yeah... my 5S is EXACTLY like a 4... wait- except thinner... oh.. & lighter... oh, and bigger screen... and completely different materials (metal back, not glass), and a much nicer camera w/ dual flash... oh, & it's 7 times faster with double the amount of RAM... and it has Siri & voice dictation & turn by turn nav... oh, and I don't have to type in my iTunes password anymore every time I open Find My Friends because this one has a fingerprint scanner.

But I actually DO agree with you in that they both have four corners still.... so, yeah- basically the same.
