Although 4S was lame, this one sounds just around even footing.

I know it's been around for a while, but what's the basis of the 128GB rumour? Most of the other rumours seem by now to be almost confirmed by multiple leaks or nods from those-in-the-know, but I've not seen anything of substance regarding the 128GB. Is it just wishful thinking, or is there more behind it than that?

it should be a little more than that. + faster processor and GPU resulting in sizable overall performance improvement+more RAM (hopefully)+ 128GB max storage (hopefully) +improved battery life+hopefully something that hasn't leaked (Cook's "doubling down" on secrecy has to be good for something, right?).
That would make for a very solid S-release which have never been groundbreaking.

The primary basis for the rumor at this point is Ming-Chi Kuo. He's about the most accurate analyst out there on Apple...not 100% by any means, but very solid.

And when you add in the state of the technology, the addition of a 128 GB iPad in February, and Apple's history of bumping capacity on "S" models, it starts to look pretty good.

The fingerprint scanner has to be faster than entering a psscode otherwise it serves little purpose. If its fast, I will upgrade from the iPhone 5. Otherwise, probably not.

What would be faster with a faster cpu/gpu? My ip5 is already lightning fast without ever any lags. Besides gaming it seems we have reached a level where specs don't really matter, plus hasn't Apple always said that specs don't matter (even though they also play the specs game just as much as anyone else)?

I think storage and battery life would be the big things, since we already know the form factor has not changed at all.
