What happened when Steve left the company years ago? Apple went down the crapper. Unfortunately now that he will not be coming back Apple being innovative is probably over but I hope not.

I've upgraded every year starting with the 3G>3GS>4>4S>5 for myself and my wife but I don't think I will upgrade this year if all I get is a little bit more speed (the 5 is fast) and a pointless fingerprint sensor. Sure the camera will be a little better but $449 (early upgrade fee) better ? I'm not sure.

I really like the iOS 7 features so I might just see how the 5 behaves in iOS 7.

Fortunately for me, or actually for Apple, I'm still using a 3GS. I'm really looking forward to a new phone, either a 5, 5C or 5S.

Waiting in line?

So...is anyone waiting in line?
Can't wait in line because I have to be at work. Wish I could with a group of friends and make it fun. How much ahead of time do you have to start lining up? I mean do people start days ahead?

So after 1 year is that what apple has to offer us? an "elongated" iphone 4...like mine. Ok...waiting for iphone6 with some real innovation

So no features that even allows them to catch up to the competition, let alone revolutionary new features that we can't live without?

The iPhone started off great, but really Apple has been just sitting around doing nothing to truly innovate and it's beginning to really show. Compare the phone to the Galaxy S4 for example and you will see that the iPhone is missing a lot of features in the following areas: Camera, Security, MultiTaksing and Gestures, just to name a few.

IMO, the biggest problem (by far) is still screen size. For crying out loud, only one or two lines of text are visible when typing in landscape, and those of us with just above average hand size or larger can't use the phone comfortably.

I myself am forced to use a case since the phone simply slips though my hand because it's so narrow, thin, and un-ergonomically shaped. Make the phone itself wider (via the screen) and round off the back edges like the 5C and it'll be much, much better.

My gut says no iWatch in September or October. Not enough lead time between the first rumors and 9/10. Yes, I know that the iPhone rumors started more recently, but those aren't a new product category. When you release a version bump every year, R&D cycles are shorted. The iWatch would be the product of more than a year of R&D I think.

Remember, the iPad was rumored for a year or two before release. From what I recall, it was spotted in the labs over a year before release.

And I don't know if Apple will ever make a flat screen TV. They seem happy making the box. While the total price is lower than a TV set, the margins are better. Maybe, MAYBE they'll make one when they can pair it with an Apple exclusive streaming subscription TV service (Apple as TV manufacturer AND cable company).

Agreed. A flat dumb display that could be used as a TV, perhaps

But I think Apple's mystery TV will be a package of services that give you better viewing regardless of your screen of choice. Computer, phone, tablet or (with the black box) tv

Seem so confident about the fingerprint scanner.

Apart from some "tech" bits, is this still unlikely?

Have we seen any parts?

iPhone works 100% well, what is it on the S4 that one will use on daily basis? being realistic...I have used the S4 for a few days and there was nothing special that I needed which I couldn't do/use just as well on the iPhone 5.

Few things that probably will never change about Android operating phones:
#1 - Bloatware - Insane amount of it (Disabling is it not the same - it should not be there)
#2 - Bloatware - taking up huge chunk of the RAM & storage - no wonder Android phone manufacturers keep bumping up the RAM - but guess what...Carriers are dumping more and more Bloatware to fill that "Extra" RAM....
#3 - Samsung has no innovation - throwing a bunch of features together into all sizes one could possibly think of is far from innovation - Also Android has too many accounts - realistically try using a android phone and see how much you truly have to setup before you are fully able to use the phone without doing a single additional thing..(this goes out to users who actually use their phones for more than just talking and playing games)..iPhone - One iCloud account does it all - add additional email accounts and thats it...Also on Android...Every App you download asks for "Access to phone calls, emails, sms" Why? (That also answers your security question...Muck like how Windows come pre-installed with Anti-Virus, Android now too comes pre-installed with Antivirus...iPhone - doesn't need one...Mac OSX - Doesn't need one - because the security is part of the OS's secure design from the ground up.

Gestures - How many gestures can one possibly do on a ~4" Screen? cant possibly put your whole hand on it unless your a 2 year old...iPhone offers 3 finger (maybe more? - I'm not sure) and I'm sure most people have never had the need to use more than two fingers on a smartphone....Samsung offers great (unnecessary) features but are they truly working at best each and every time? Sadly after playing around with a S4 for a few days nonstop, I can't confidently say that.

MultiTasking - personally iOS offers the simplest form of multi-tasking (You click twice - boom switch between apps....can it really get any more easier than that?)

Camera - iPhone has great camera, Samsung S4 has great camera, if we are going to compare camera...I think the HTC ONE (M7/butterfly) has the absolute best camera - that too in a 4MP - Like apple once said, its not just about the megapixels that matters, its the software that drives it. I would say iPhone 5 and Samsung S4 (& even Note II) are not any different in quality - HTC ONE definitely taking the lead..and then there's also the Nokia Lumia 1020 with its camera ---- whole new ball game.

What android has better at the moment - Google Now - the voice assistant is extremely accurate when it comes to recognizing phrases/sentences - Hopefully the Siri in iOS 7 final release is as good.

just my opinion based on people complaining about iPhone lacking features...btw how many "features" do windows phones have? Lumia & all other windows phones don't have anything thats innovative in that sense...yet people still like it...and they like it for its simplicity from what I have personally heard.

I wish Ubuntu Edge was successful, that OS would have put Android at the back of the line.

Lol a bunch of new features isn't innovation to you? OK.

Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation Innovation

People should be "Innovative" and use other words ;)

Anything google does = innovation. Android paired with a Pentium Processor could render 1 hour of 4k video in 1 minute. Fact!

and...... INNOVATION!

With the 10th fast approaching, shouldn't we have see invitations sent out to the press by now?

I think last year invitations went out about 7 days before the event. So I would expect them to go out early next week.

AppleTV

I wish I knew when the next AppleTV (the little box that's out now-not a potential TV that's been speculated about) will come out because I want another one for another TV but I don't want it to be the "old" version in 3 months. I went ahead a bought my first one two months ago because I wanted to try it. I don't mind if I have one "old" one.;)

I've never seen so much leaks coming from apple before a product launch, what ever happen to Tim Cook saying he's going to "double down on secrecy"?

All these leaks are madness..

As has been said countless times on here, when you have so many people in the supply chain involved in producing these devices it is very difficult to prevent leaks.

I am definitely getting the iPhone 5S. My iPhone 4 has put its time in. I'm ready for a new phone. I'm not waiting around for iPhone 6 to come. Thats for sure.

This would be 100% real if there was the lack of two words meaning:

On purpose.

I think iWatch as a name is interesting.

iPhone has a primary function being a phone.

Presumably one of iWatch's primary functions won't be telling the time, which you expect from a watch.

Calling it iWatch could transform what we think of watches generally. Now when we talk about tablets, we're talking about computing devices. While iWatch could be a brand name, watches could become the generic term for other devices that do something similar to what an iWatch will do.

It might be one day that when people talk about watches they'll say, "Can you remember when all watches did was tell time?"

This might be a reinvention of the watch but also a reinvention of the purpose of a watch. What is really being co-opted is the location and idea of having something on the wrist. Is that enough to take the name watch?

It's exactly 2 years since the Iphone 4S came out. All out of contract Verizon 4S owners (including me) will upgrade to the 5S simply because it's dumb not to. The subsidy is included in the monthly bill.

Black. Anodized champagne reminds me of 70s stereo receivers.
