To be honest, some of these apps I do not understand why they even sell since there are free or even opensource counterparts which can do just the same...

Especially iVolume is a mystery to me since iTunes itself has audio normalisation;
MacPilot can just as easily be replaced by the Secrets prefpane from the guys that developed QuickSilver;
VirusBarrier has ClamXAV as a counterpart;
LittleSnitch is tougher but is only just another frontend for ipfw just like WaterRoof en NoobProof;

WhatSize is a category of it's own. There is SpaceFinder which is 2.5$ cheaper or someone with the necessary knowledge can whip up a terminal script which can tell you the same things...

KeyCue is useful yet overpriced for what it does, same goes for DefaultFolderX and MacGourmet.

Drive Genius is indeed a great tool and RapidWeaver I've never used so I can not judge...

So yeah, the bundle itself is great value for money whichever way you spin it especially thanks to Drive Genius but some apps are just not worth buying...

I'm wanting to get in on this ASAP b/c I want the free app, but if the site is backlogged and unavailable that's not possible. Oh, well. I guess that's one of the ways to get folks to jump on the wagon early.

Anyone know if MacUpdate allows "Gift Licenses" like MacHeist did? I only need Little Snitch 2 and would like to see if anyone want to sell me just that license for a decent price.

Awesome bundle... had a question regarding another App on the "special offer" section in the checkout, Data Rescue 2. One of my external hard drives cannot be read (its formatted for Mac, cannot remember if journaled or not), it shows an error in disk utility. Do you think Data Rescue will help salvage those files before i have to format it again? Thanks.

Licensing question

Does anybody know how the licensing works on these bundles? Can I split the applications up across my various Macs? Also, am I able to remove one of the apps from the Mac that it was originally installed on and then move it over to one of my other Macs, or is it locked to the original Mac that it was installed on?

That's good to know. As long as it doesn't slow down my Mac and helps protect it, I'm up for it.

Has anyone used Norton Anti-virus? If it's just as good, I'd rather go with it because it's free.

Norton down right sux. I haven't used since Ver9 though so I don't know how 10 or 11 were/are, but I can tell you that prior to Ver9 it used to take over your system as if it WERE a virus.

The definition updates were horrendous. When the update kicked in you were locked out of the system until it finished and if your network connection had any hiccups it would render your system bogged down until a Force Quit and you relogged in or restarted. And then don't even get me started on Norton's scanning files or compressed files..... oy.....

I haven't put any anti virus on my Macs for a while now and no problems (knock on wood). Besides in all my years of working in the graphics field and getting and sending files to a multitude of vendors/customers I have only seen TWO Mac viruses. Oh and those two viruses were back in 1999 and 2000. I have seen 4 PC viruses get caught though on my system though since 2001.

Back in 1997-2001 (pre OS X) I used to use Virex and loved it. Haven't tried it since OS 8-OS9 though.

I've never used any antivirus on my mac, but for PC Norton Internet Security 2009 is fantastic. The previous few versions were bloated crapware that took over massive amounts system resources, but I suspect that Norton totally rewrote its antivirus because the 2009 version runs smoothly and unobtrusively.

Thanks, good thing that I know that before downloading it. I'm sure there's also a ton more software out there to try out.

The $49 looks like a good deal. I need the WhatSize and Drive Genius software, so I'm probably going to get the whole package.

I have about 30GB left on my Mac out of the 111GB that I started with. I haven't found anything good yet (I have tried AppCleaner and AppZapper and I don't particularly like either of them), so I guess I can try WhatSize. I wonder what it is like compared to those I mentioned.

That's the best value bundle in a while, IMO.

The thing I worry about when buying these bundles is whether they supplement their income by giving your contact details to mass-marketing companies. Probably if you buy from an individual developer he won't do it, but if you buy through a 3rd party who knows.

Attempted Buy Failed

I attempted to buy the bundle. Took all my info and then didn't deliver. Now I must monitor my credit card for a period of time to avoid fraud.

If RapidWeaver 4 did not require Leopard, I could join in, but I'll pass.

I work from home and am not networked to any other computers, just the Internet. Having worked with PC / Windows for most of my working life, I would like to avoid running anti-virus programs as much as possible.

This Roughly Drafted article helped me better understand the state of malware with respect to the Mac platform.

I wish these bundles were smaller and had less programs. Some are nice, but not enough to spend the full price, and I like too many to buy full price.

Unlike in past promotions, there appears to be no unlocking requirement and all apps are available from day one. The sale lasts for two weeks.
It's a bit less exciting this time. No bonus apps to watch for.

I've purchased the past bundles. Even though I found I had use for only some of the apps, I still saved money.

RapidWeaver and LittleSnitch were in previous bundles, but are newer versions of those apps.

I've been planning on getting Drive Genius and MacGourmet, so this was the perfect combo. I've had Little Snitch for over a year now and it has been a great tool.

issues

Well I installed one of these apps now my sound will not work. I get a circle with a slash through it when I try to turn up/down the volume...

Any one else had this issue? Even the sound is missing from the menu bar. There is just a gap now between the bluetooth and airport...see below. I've restarted and reset by pulling out the battery and holding down the power button and I get the startup chime when restarting :confused: :mad:

You do your homework and if it turns out you can transfer a license I'll let you or anyone else for that matter name their price. I've got little snitch and it works great for me but I surely don't need a back up copy.:D

Also, to MacRumors, I purchased my copy through your link just to support you guys. Keep up the good work!

good lord, no wonder piracy is so popular. For the prices of the programs and looking at what they do, I would say they are all stupidly overpriced. But then I have never used any of them, but still...

I'm just saying....

[edit]
And yes, to anyone who fires back, I know that they are on sale and it is a wonderful deal and all that happy stuff and it goes to help MR blablabla...
And no, moderators, I am not endorsing piracy, I am just talking about the motivations for doing so. Stop censoring me :D

Try rebooting. Also, check if there is a red light coming from your speaker output / headphones port. If yes, stick a paper clip in there and wiggle until it goes away :D. Seriously. If not, there is something else weirder going on that I have no way of knowing (not to mention it would be a lot easier to diagnose a problem if you actually said WHAT application it was that caused this...)

Different folks will have their own opinions as to what are the little gems to be found here.
For me it's very simple: iVolume.

Music is a massive part of my life and until I happened across iVolume, itunes was driving me mad.
iTunes has audio 'normalisation' built in? Yeah, and the earbuds that come with all ipods are worth listening with!

iVolume is just fantastic, is more than worth the entry price alone, and works beautifully.

The truly frightening thing though is that here in England, when I'm out and about, virtually without exception, everybody I see with an iPod is using the earbuds that come with it! Don't even get me started on the reasons why....
In two words: Asleep. Sheep.

All those folks will likely be satisfied with the results they get from iTunes' way of equalising volume between songs.

For the rest of us, there is a solution. iVolume.

Apple is filthy rich because they get people to pay out the nose for stuff that is not actually that high of quality, but looks fashionable as hell. Welcome to the world of Apple marketing, my man :rolleyes:

On the sheep comment: that is the other reason why they are filthy rich. they have their own cult. I am yet to see "HPRumors" or "DellRumors" .com :D
