I am still trying to decide if I should get the bundle. I purchased last year's bundle (along with the MacHeist ones).

I already have Parallels 4.0 but TechTool looks good. At $50 it would be a saving on just buying TTP itself. The other programs are nice, but I am not sure how much they would be used.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.

Moneywell kills Quicken

I've been using Quicken since 2002 on Windows. In fact, it is the only Windows app I still use outside of work. No longer! Moneywell kills Windows Quicken (and let's face it, Mac Quicken is a joke to begin with). It imported seven years of quicken Windows data from a QIF flawlessly, transferring over all my categories (buckets in moneywell) without a hitch. It downloads my AmEx data and Credit Union banking data perfectly, even auto-matching transactions already downloaded and imported from Quicken. For one of my banks, I have to download the qif because they charge for PFM access. It imports that perfectly as well.

Plus, it's way easier to use, budgeting is simpler, reports are better, support is better. Bye bye Quicken (and Windows)! If you use Quicken (esp on the Mac side), dump it for Moneywell.

Loosen up guys!

It seems as if some people are impossible to please. It's a fantastic bundle. Even if you only want TechTool Pro you're about $50 ahead. DVD Remaster and NetBarrier just make it an even greater bargain. There's stuff here I don't want, but all things I do want have downloaded and worked like a charm. What's not to like?

I think the biggest problems with these bundles is that they are only really good the first time you buy it. The applications really don't change much year to year.

Parallels doesn't work outside the US

This is what I read on the Macupdate promo forum from disappointed buyers. It seems like a mistake. If it's the case then it should be made clear to buyers before buying.

Cheers,

You mean like it says right on the main MacUpdate page under the Parallels section:

"Use other operating systems and their applications concurrently with your Mac. Parallels supports virtual machines with up to 8 cores, 8GB of RAM, and 3D acceleration for maximum performance. Please note: Your license key will only work with U.S. English copies of Parallels and cannot be exchanged for other languages or regions"

Guess folks on the fourms should read before they buy...

Really? I bought it last September, and here is what the bundle consisted of:

Alarm Clock Pro
Bookends
MacJournal
Mellel
DEVONagent
Contactizer Pro
LightZone
Norrkross Movie
Periscope
HookUp
Kameleon

I got it mainly for LightZone and Norrkross, both of which I use regularly.

So now the first 25,000 people get the program "Voila"? How does that work for the people who bought before this app was "unlocked"? We get it too right?

Bah. It now stands at 20,840 bundles sold, so apparently I've missed out on the first two bonus apps. That'll teach me not to check MacRumors for a couple of days!

That said, this is probably the first bundle that seems like a great deal to me. I see 3 applications I've been wanting to get, but putting off - Parallels (I have v3 but not v4), RipIt (been using the trial this week and very impressed), and DVDRemaster Pro (just started using the demo yesterday, not knowing it was in this bundle). Those alone make it a fantastic deal for me.

Some of the others seem like slick eye candy looking for a problem to solve. Can't say if I'll use any of them on a regular basis. In the last (and only other) bundle I bought, I've really only used one of the apps on a regular basis. But that one turned out to be extremely handy (WireTap Studio), so it was worth it for just that.

I guess I should go and hit Buy to make sure I'm still in the 25,000 to get "Voila" - another app that'll probably sit unused... :p

Voila is a great app as are some of the other . If you don't want them gift them to me......:D

Will DVD Remaster Pro not rip the entire disk image (just like Ripit does?) Just curious. I'm guessing if I wanted movies on my iPhone, I could just use ripit, and then convert a copy into itunes format (feature movie only) with remasterpro. I just wonder if it's really more beneficial than using the free options that are out there.

Try it first!

For people familiar with the programs in this bundle --

My church records our services directly onto a DVD so that we can bring it to the public television station for rebroadcast throughout the week. We would like to be able to extract the sermon portion of the video for use on the website each week. At the moment, I don't know how to do this on a Mac, or at least don't have a program that can do it.

Would any of those DVD programs be good (and simple, hopefully) for doing this?

Yes you can copy the DVD to your computer. Then re-encode the copied file with DVD Remaster to H.264 for your website. Handbrake latest version is free for non-protected DVD. If you plan to back-up your DVD collection other than your church project you can use this. If you don't know how to do it in Mac get a Parallel install a Windows then you're good to go.

Anybody else notices the different bundles on the front page of MacUpdate today instead of the actual current Bundle as shown on mupromo.com?

I sometimes see either an Intego Bundle getting promoted (NetBarrier X5 and VirusBarrier for $49,95) or a Bundle of 10 apps or so for $39,95 with totally different apps than the actual current Bundle. Will these be future Bundles or is MacUpdate just confused?

I also received an MU Promo email again today that's promoting StoryMill 3.2.2 (50% off) posted on june 3, and announcing that something big is coming up (offering a free copy of AirRadar when signing up).

I bought the bundle for Parallels. I have been having so many problems with VMware Fusion as it wont recognise my boot camp partition. This latest graphics fiasco after the 10.5.7 update sealed its fate.

chas0001, as I could not find a way to send you a PM, please allow my quesiont whether you would be interested in selling your Fusion license to me?

As you started using Parallels and didn't have luck with Fusion, maybe this interests you!?

@everone else: Sorry for the trash!

I received the email also. They are trying to do too much... The other offers are valid and are from the other software developers. I am assuming MacUpdate will get some cut from sales. I actually purchased the Koingo bundle last year when they did the same offer. I have VirusBarrier already so no need for that unless I used it after the current 1 year subscription expires....

Just bought the package, mostly to get Parallels, but also TechTool and perhaps NetBarrier (not sure I will use the latter), to use on my first mac :); Macbook Pro 13" or 15" (can't decide which one to get).

Heh, kind of missed that part... but I should be able to run US english version of Parallels on my Swedish OSX, I mean, OS language shouldn't matter, right?
