I have been trying to buy this for the past hour it keeps failing... anyone else having this issue?

I was having trouble getting through the purchasing process too. In my case, I got this error massage:

Details: Please enter a five-digit code in the billing address. [Code: 10717 (Error)]
Details: Please enter a five-digit code in the billing address. [Code: 10706 (Error)]
Details: Please enter a five-digit code in the shipping address (or billing address, if these are the same). [Code: 10735 (Error)]
Details: Please enter a five-digit code in the shipping address (or billing address, if these are the same). [Code: 10724 (Error)]

After failing the process 10 odd times, finally I was able to buy it. I didn't change anything when resending my name and stuff, so it shouldn't be my fault (I kept resending the exact same info using cache).

By the way, I sent an email to MacUpdate Support and asked what the error massage was. Here's the reply:

"[1] you can download the full version of the TechTool Pro installer.dmg here:

http://download.macupdate.com/techtool_pro_504_installer.dmg

[2] if your original TechTool Pro DVD.dmg refused to mount please re-download the file here:

http://download.macupdate.com/techtool_pro_504_dvd.dmg"

WTF?

I will probably get it when I get home. As others said, Parallels alone is worth that. I'm a bit worried though, since some people have been saying the TechTool Pro dmg file is corrupt and won't install. I hope they get that fixed soon.
It's TechTool 5 and I am running it from the bundle now on my other MacBook.

My concern is that once Snow Leopard is released, none of these will work.

And most likely we'll have to purchase the upgrades to get them to work.

Just a thought.... that's what's holding me back at this point!

Despite others' having said that it is unlikely that both Parallels and TTP will be launching new versions with SL, I believe that this is EXACTLY why both applications are being offered in this bundle. It has happened too many times before with the higher value apps.

This seems like a good deal with a lot of cool apps.

I am interested in playing a few PC games on my mac (GuildWars). I was planning to buy CrossOver, but at this price, Paralells with this bundle definitely seems worth it! Anyone have experience playing video games on Paralells? Comparisons with CrossOver?

Also, I'm planning to get a new mac in about 3 weeks. I want to take advantage of this, but I'm sure I don't have enough hard drive space to download these apps on my current mac. Are they bought through itunes? Can I buy and then download later?

Merci et gracias!

Well the Paralells website says that this new version 4 is alot better with games.
and to answer your other question, no they are purchased from http://www.mupromo.com which was created by macupdate. When you buy them you get an E-mail with each program's serial code and a link to download it form. the total size of the downloads is 600-700mb or so.

I wasn't really planning on buying any of that in the near future but paralells for $50 looked like a sweet deal so I got it. and it's still under 15000 (it's 10,908 right now) so I got the extra 2 also.

yay I bought it!
Here's my reasoning:

- TechTool Pro 5 ($98.00) - Sounds lovely. I love optimization. lol. And great price compared to full price.
- Parallels Desktop 4 ($79.99) - I was planning to buy some sort of virtual pc, the student price's for both this and VMware are only $39.99, but I figured it would still be a good deal with everything else.
- Circus Ponies Notebook 3 ($49.95)- Hopefully this will be useful in grad school?
- NetBarrier X5 ($49.95)- umm, sure?
- DVDRemaster Pro 5 ($49.99)- my computer is my entertainment system, so this is great
- Multiplex ($35.00) - see above
- RipIt ($18.99)- see above again
- MoneyWell ($49.99) - I have an old version of Quicken, but this seems like it will be useful for day to day budgeting
- Paperless ($44.95) - hmm, I assume you need a scanner for this one? I have one but it sounds like a pain to input everything.
- Posterino ($24.95)- sure, why not
- BetterZip ($19.95) - and this is better how exactly? sure why not

Bonus Apps for first 15,000 Buyers (I was like 11,100 or something close to that)

- Jets'n'Guns Gold ($29.95) - umm, maybe a birthday present for my brother, or if I get really bored lol
- CuteClips 3 ($15.00) - I'll have to test this out see how useful it is. if not, it could make a birthday present too! lol

I am still on a powerpc with 2G harddrive space left on a good day, so can't test these out yet, but my new Macbook, when I get it, will be a powerhouse! :)

I worry a bit about compatibility with snow leopard, espec Paralells. Also, a bit cause I saw the student price for Paralells, but not a student price for an upgrade?! So if a new version comes out I'll just have to just rebuy it for the student rate (hopefully that is permanent and not a onetime deal).

I'm tempted to buy this for Parallels alone. I have an old PC that I keep around specifically for playing Age of Empires II.

Has anyone else here used Parallels for AoE II (with the expansion pack)?

this will be the 2nd game i load on mine when i get it going, ffxI being the 1st. i will post up how it works out.

Can MoneyWell access UK banks?

Big question:

Is the MoneyWell financial app able to download account statements from UK banks?

So far, I've only seen this ability offered for USA bank accounts. I'm dying to see this ability make it over the pond.

I doubt it.... but to be fair, I wouldn't trust anything to access my Account whether it was an application or my son!! I like it as secure as it can be.. and well... letting an application do it for me is not what I am accustomed to...

[edit]Just opened it up... and tried a few major UK banks... it doesn't work.. just as I thought.. :(

I bought the bundle for Parallels. I have been having so many problems with VMware Fusion as it wont recognise my boot camp partition. This latest graphics fiasco after the 10.5.7 update sealed its fate.

Upgrade Policies

I bought the mid-July 2007 MacUpdate Bundle and had inconsistent experiences with upgrades.

Mid 2007 Bundle
PRODUCTs

SRS iWOW
GarageSale
Cocktail
ProfCast
Amadeus Pro
Fetch
GraphicConverter X
PhotoPresenter
Little Snitch
Intaglio
TechTool Pro

The main issues I had,

TechTool Pro was version 4.5.x and Micromat wanted $79 to upgrade to 4.6.x with 10.5 compatibility. So I had not even had the software 4 months and they want me to pay more than the regular upgrade price of $59 since I bought my copy in a discount bundle.

GarageSale 3, I accidently hit auto upgrade to Garagesale 4 and my SN# still worked, but when I did a clean install/reinstall of my OS, I only had the GarageSale 4 dmg file, and my old SN# would no longer work.

Good apps

Graphic Converter, they sent email saying free upgrade from version 5 to 6 (a significant upgrade compared to other apps) was included with my bundle, now almost 2 years latter, I still have free upgrades.

Little Snitch is the same, free upgrade from 1.x to 2.0 to 2.x no problems, 2 years of free upgrades so far.

Oddities,
A couple of the apps jumped from 1.x to 2.x versions within a couple of months, ceased development on the 1.x versions, didn't fix the original 1.x bugs, and tried to get people to pay for updates. Less than 90 days of support. :(

I bought this bundle within 10 minutes of reading the promotion email. I wanted to buy some of these apps anyway, and support the smaller Mac developers while getting a good deal myself.

This is the best bundle (for me) yet!

Despite others' having said that it is unlikely that both Parallels and TTP will be launching new versions with SL, I believe that this is EXACTLY why both applications are being offered in this bundle. It has happened too many times before with the higher value apps.

Parallels was also offered in a MU bundle last April - version 4 came out six or seven months later (I think!) and if memory serves me right, users who bought version 3 with the bundle got a reasonable discount of the usual upgrade (I think, 30%).

Like you, I'm sure new versions will be released come out after SL is released - but I would say that if someone needs/wants one of these apps now, then they're no worse off than getting it through the bundle than buying individually. That said, I think I had the same problem as spacepower7 with TTP, which hardly endeared me to it....

WTF?

What I am running into is it won't let me create a membership... Tried it last night and tried it this morning and still won't let me create...

Many thanks for all that hard work! Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer.

I see an 'add account manually option' - would that let you add a UK account statement download?

One other way maybe is if UK banks let you download accounts in spreadsheet or CSV form - you could do that yourself monthly, avoiding security issues - and if the financial application allows you to import these files...

You can do a CSV import... but it would be a faf no???

Sorry to go a bit off thread, but I'm curious: I see this "a $xxx value" thing in lots of American things these days, but it just doesn't sound right to me - in British English I think we would tend to say "worth £xxx" instead. I think in English something can have a value, not be a value. Does "a $xxx value" sound natural to an American, or is it one of these legally worded advertising phrases?

Just wondering...

I don't think it's a legal term, just an Americanism which sounds odd to us Brits. Not that there's anything wrong with American English of course, it's just the natural evolution of a language.

Although I have to count to ten when I hear people committing grammatical atrocities with words like "epic fail" and "leverage". :D

Also it's worth pointing out that you lot over there would have opened the pitch with "MacUpdate are offering a bundle worth...." (This plural verb for group noun thing is, I think the biggest, most obvious "official" difference between our brands of English.)

As a Brit trained in corporate communications, I definitely would have used "MacUpdate is..." !

I was in the market for a good money manager as well as some DVD ripping and compression aps, not to mention I still needed Parallels so this is perfect timing for me.

Just got my iMac so sweet deal all around.

I tried to buy the bundle yesterday and then again today, but the site keeps telling me theres a problem creating a MacUpdate account. Anyone else have this problem and/or a fix? Thanks

You could sell it. My boxed version of Parallels 4 is going on eBay next week! That should more than pay for this bundle.

And you think you will still get a lot of money for that after this promo spring bundle which contains parallels 4 ?

Personally, I doubt it.

I'm absolutely certain I will. Sites like this and MacUpdate are frequented by enthusiasts like us. The vast majority of everyday Mac users won't see this bundle offer, and many of them won't have even heard of Parallels until they see my carefully worded sales pitch.

Passed on every bundle in the past. Grabbed this one.

I've eyed Notebook for a while, and there are some other apps that look worthwhile. Notebook plus Parallels was it for me, but the addition of a group of other things that look neat-o didn't hurt.

Happy with purchase.

I'm not big on games, but the Jets'n'Guns Gold game that comes with this bundle as a bonus is really fun. I know it doesn't have killer graphics, but it a good way to waste time.

Are you able to download these more than once after purchase? Reason I ask is I'm still running Tiger and plan to upgrade to leopard soon. I like to run TT prior to the upgrade. And I also see some of these only run on leopard.
Thanks
