I tell you what, if the iFusion ever gets a cordless version that would be really nice. Although i could just plug in my iPhone into the wall and use a bluetooth, and it would serve the same purpose. Interested to see what the next version holds.

LOL. I though the iFusion was a joke at first.

The iFusion. So this product turns your mobile phone into a landline, but without a landline. Or is the iFusion already connected to a landline.

Well if you had an App to tie your iPhone to your VoIP line or PABX setup then it would make a great office product.

I like the ifusion phone - I miss using a desk phone, which was easier to hold to my ear when talking for extended periods.

Nice accessory for the office.
Yes, I'd like it for the same reason. Sometimes I'll talk on my iPhone for extended periods of time while sitting at my desk. It would be nice to have a "normal" handset to use for a change - holding a flat slab of glass with metal trim to your head is not too comfortable after a while.

And, before someone says it, yes - I've heard of bluetooth headsets before.

For SplashTop, the thing running on the Mac is a server, not a client.

Looks more like an iOSworld expo than Macworld expo judging from the highlights

If they did rename it to that, Apple would probably come back, lol.

I've been using Splashtop on my iPad for a while. It truly does work great!

splash top is amazing!!!!

Where are all these reviews coming from? Are you using the same product I am? Sure, I guess it's ok for $2. I do like that it has sound support, but the controls are awful! I have been using the free trial of iTeleport for the last month or so. Seriously guys, try it out! Then if you like it you can in-app purchase to unlock it. There are a few versions of it on the app store so look for the free one. They have pretty much nailed the controls and usability. Also iTeleport works off the local network and over 3g, something that isn't available currently in Splashtop, even though this article says otherwise. iTeleport makes it stupid easy to connect and is also a universal app for iPad and iPhone. It has already saved me in class this semester when I forgot to load my PDF presentation onto my iPad. You can even plug the iPad into the VGA connector and output your desktop onto an external monitor wherever you go!

The main problem with iTeleport is price. The iPad only version is $20 and the universal app is $25, but I was lucky enough to upgrade from the free version last week when they had it on sale for $10! After trying Splashtop, I feel good about my iTeleport purchase, though I'm not sure if I would have bought it for $25, it is still a good product! All it needs now is sound support and perhaps a little speedier refresh rate (although I always run it at native resolution, which in my case is a rather large and resource-hungry 1920x1200).

Navigon had active lane assistance before 1.7. At least, it had something similar and I don't see any difference between what they had before and what they have now.

Did they say when they will start supporting copy and pasted addresses, so we don't have to pick state, city, street and number one by one? Navigon may be the best of the bunch, but they are not making many improvements lately.

What is the point of the iFusion phone?

While you may have never picked up a corded headset in ten years, there are many that still are tied -- literally! -- to there decades old habits of walking to a phone that is ringing. This is what some called a "legacy habit support" product. This is what you get your grandparents who need the comfort of a stationary handset to feel they are actually using a phone.

From seeing the 20' x 20' space they rented at the front of the MacWorld Expo today, this outfit has big money to push this product. In a way, this may become the last corded telephone handset design to ship as it sings the Western Electric customer base's final swan song.

The iPhone plugs into it just for power docking. In fact, the telephony is done with the iPhone via Bluetooth. There are some bizarre and byzantine domestic and office settings that forbid cell phones used in the office place since holding a cell phone at your desk looks "unprofessional."

I'm sure this same crowd also rolls their toothpaste from the bottom of the tube each morning and still wears BVDs. While it is wireless, it doesn't look wireless and that is the marketplace they are going after.

It will sell well, just not to you or your friends -- that is unless you are doing a 70s revival party.

Plus it's supports the rather un-professional but very satisfying slamming of the handset when discussions reach a stalemate.

They could make the handset wireless as well but then it couldn't be a speaker phone as well.

Does anyone else using a mac get pretty bad stuttering problems when using splashtop with their iPhone? If I go into itunes and play a song it just stutters throughout the song. Same thing for video playback.... Anyone know the issue here?

Navigon iPhone 4 Screen Mount Won't Work With A Case/Bumper

Unfortunately the iPhone Design Car Mount Kit by Navigon Screen Mount Won't Work With A Case/Bumper. I quote from the BringMobi iPhone 4 Car Mount web page - "The Design Car Kit cannot be used in connection with the iPhone 4 Bumper." They are not going to sell a lot of those when users realize they have to take their iPhone 4 case/bumper off just to use this mount. You would think they would have a design with adjustable retaining clip/corners to work with or without a case/bumper. I ask you how many of the iPhone 4's do you see without a case/bumper?

I was really hoping for this product to be a viable solution for in car use for navigation and telephone use via hands free.

Sigh.... Not to be.

Someday it will be common for children to be heard saying "whats a land line?" How far off is that day?
A. 3 years from now
B. 6 years from Now
C. 9 years from now
D. 12 years from now
E. 15 years from now

:D

We still have a landline, which is handy as some companies still insist on one when you fill in forms etc.

However...it hasn't had an actual phone plugged into it for about 3 years now. The idea of a phone being linked to a house rather than a person does already feel a bit weird.

Seriously?

I know many will require a home phone number, but never have I seen one require a *landline* - and I'll either put my cell down on both or just on the required line.

the iFusion phone looks like a joke. Yes nice that it's a dock, ... etc. But why would I tie my iPhone to something that needs a CABLE to make phone calls? At least make it wireless - but than, what's the point to put my iPhone into a device that can be used to make wireless calls? Hmmm, still didn't figured out how this would make sense ... I rather get a 'normal' dock. Don't see what this iFusion buys you. Oh well, maybe its just me since I don't have a traditional landline anymore and just don't see the advantage.

Hmm Splashtop.. I may finally try one of these remote desktop apps afterall.
I don't understand why nobody has written an app that works using Bonjour/Screen Sharing. Is it a closed Apple-only API? I'd love to just have instant control of my Macs via the iPad without installing yet more VNC server software on every machine.
