Seriously?

I know many will require a home phone number, but never have I seen one require a *landline* - and I'll either put my cell down on both or just on the required line.

AFAIK, it's still a requirement over here for broadband internet on ADSL, and we even still have an old wired phone in case of emergency (long power outage, cell phone system down, anything like that).

I don't understand why nobody has written an app that works using Bonjour/Screen Sharing. Is it a closed Apple-only API? I'd love to just have instant control of my Macs via the iPad without installing yet more VNC server software on every machine.

ITeleport does that. You only need the app if you want easy remote access without configuring your router.

Splashtop Mac turned on?

Can someone tell me if my Mac has to be turned on for SplashTop.
Im one of those obssessives that needs to shut down my entire MBP when Im done using it and put it in a case to prevent the buggies coming into the holes. Anyway, I would LOVE this application if I could get into my closed and protected MBP...(but common sense is telling me this would be impossibe, and my MBP would have to actually be on for it to work?).....

smart aapl not participating in macworld - they are doing fine own their own - the world of mac is doing well - and will probably grow
my first impression in the ifusion phone dock was - that doesnt look right - like going backwards - but iguess it takes all kinds

I like the "active lane assistance" - handy for all those confusing freeway intersections here in Los Angeles.

To put it in perspective, I would have LOVED to have something like this for a normal cell phone for my elderly dad. He can't hear the phone ring all that well and a phone dock for when he is at home would help him tremendously. Louder ring, and it's in the same place all the time so he does not have to go search for it. However, not buying my 92 year old dad an iPhone. A little overkill for him. :)

One question I have about this device, is the cradle doc conector deep enough so I don't have to remove my case?

Hmm Splashtop.. I may finally try one of these remote desktop apps afterall.

I can now 'technically' download torrents on my iPad now. I hardly use my iMac anymore, but that's one thing I can't do on the iPad, torrent downloading.

Splashtop Remote's performance is outstanding. Unfortunately it somehow ruined remote access on my iPad. When using it for the first time it suddenly stopped working and I couldn't get it to connect to my iMac again. Soon afterwards I discovered Air Video, Rowmote, Mobile Mouse Pro, Remote HD, and the Apple Remote app suddenly all suffered from the same problem as well. That was four days ago and after hours of research and troubleshooting there's still no solution. I have yet to get a response from the Splashtop developers and no indication that I even will. Interestingly all the same apps (minus Splashtop which I don't have on my iPod Touch) still work perfectly on my iPod Touch. Internet access on the iPad still actually works fine. It's just remote access stuff between my iPad and iMac that no longer works.

On the iPad they all just fail to connect and timeout. The Rowmote app occasionally flashes a "General CFSocket error" message, whatever that means.

I've reset the iPad and set it up as a new user. I've uninstalled Splashtop from my iMac and iPad. I've repaired permissions. Firewall has always been off. All devices are on my same home wifi network.

Splashtop Remote server must hace somehow altered something on my iMac is the best I can guess. I don't know what to do. It's extremely frustrating.

I hope nobody else runs into the same problem with this.

Does not play well with Front Row

Probably wouldn't use it with front row anyway but I was just working my way through my applications - result was loads of flashing on Mac mini and iPad screens and then Mac mini just crashed and I temporarily lost access to USB drives holding my media................

All up and running fine again after restart though (but haven't tried FR again!)

Navigon's bracket illegal in CA

You are not allowed to suction-cup your GPS or iPhone to the window in California. You will get a ticket. The idea, and it's pretty good, is that in an accident the GPS flies off and hits you in the nose at 40 miles an hour.

You have to have something that attaches firmly to the dashboard.

It's sloppy programming. They're hogging a port, and it's stuck to it. Do a "Restore" of the iPad, and that ought to work.

If you mean restore from a previous backup I did that. But I'll try it again. It's all I got left to try. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hmmm, the iFusion seems to be very practical. I don't know why people call it a joke... unless you've never seen a cord phone in your life.

Man, I miss the time when you were on the phone, and when people had to stop their car and find a booth to call someone. But that's for another discussion...

Ok tried again and didn't work. Is is possible to close or disable this port and create a new one?

Hmm Splashtop.. I may finally try one of these remote desktop apps afterall.

I tried it this weekend. I don't know how it stacks up against others, but for me this is the best app in the world. Finally I can stream live BBC channels to my iPad. I just take control of the iMac at the iPad's native resolution and get the iplayer to run at fullscreen. Awesome and so easy that it is practical.

Love it.
