It really does piss me off that Apple won't embrace anyone's technology but their own (well, I know that's not 100% true, but still...) and use BitTorrent as a distribution mechanism for this.

I get through to right after he's talking about iPod sales and I completely loose audio.

I really, really hate to say this (being a Mac fan and this being Macrumors after all) but WMV seems to stream a lot better QT does.

Oh well, I guess I'll just give up on this year's keynote addy...
It's not that QT isn't good at streaming, it's just there are a ton of people trying to view it. It's just overloaded.

Yeah, it'll be a lot easier to view the stream in a couple of days once most people have seen it already.

I'm watching it fine right now. I guess it's because it's nearly 3 a.m. Eastern. :D

BTW, in my experience, streaming QT is much better than streaming WMP.

I finally got to watch it around 10 p.m. CST last night. I also was able to drag to a point in the keynote easily. I went to the hardware portion and watched until the end. It was a good presentation!

I watched it last night as well, and I didn't have any problems either - must be less load on their servers now that the majority of the people have watched it. I thought it was great myself - despite his being under the weather, Jobs still pulled off a great keynote in my opinion.

Hi,

Anyone wanting to download the keynote
paste this link into your browser,
wait for it to load completely and save.

Link;
http://stream.qtv.apple.com/events/jan/mw2006/m_mw_2006_350_ref.mov

I found it by going thru the code for the apple web page.
I don't think that's right. If you save it, you're just saving a small (few KB) file that streams the keynote when you open it. It does not save the several hundred MB file we're all searching for.

Edit: Here's another link. http://stream.qtv.apple.com/events/jan/mw2006/m_mw_2006_650_ref.mov

I still don't think they are what we want though.

is it possible to view the keynote in something other than quicktime? My ibook is out for repair and windows crapped out on me on my 5+ year old Dell, so the only thing I have right now is knoppix (linux shell running off a CD rather than the hard drive). Quicktime doesn't work in linux. I tried realplayer 10 but it said it was missing the h264 codec. Any ideas?

My thought was to try to use VLC in an attempt to get it to download...but no joy. I just can't sit through the choppiness of this...it's horrible.

I tried that to and the feed died at Steve's first cough. :D

I keep checking Limewire and Bittorrent for it - no avail.

I wonder if its possible to capture the rtsp stream at all, and which application to use?

I tried that with some problems. I read the transcript live so I'm just sitting around waiting for someone else to do it :D.

Has anyone in the UK been able to watch this yet? I've been trying for two days solid, I've even left it on connecting all night and still no joy.

For people with connection problems and are new to the mac, try this and see it helps. Under system preferences>quicktime>advanced: change the transport setup to custom. In the next box, change the transport protocol to http and the port to port 80. Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention that you also need to open that port in your firewall.

I doubt its legal to do, but you can try capturing the feed with Snapz Pro X. It will capture the video stream and audio as it plays and save it to a Quicktime file.

I was finally able to watch the stream as I was laying in bed Tuesday night, but until then every time I tried it timed out. I was really hoping Apple would put a copy of the Keynote on iTMS in iPod format, now that would have been nice! :)

I'd also like to download this one. For some reason the streaming from QT is not working well (tried changing the transport options in the prefs too). If someone has a link to download this, it'd be great. :)

Thanks! :)

You are awesome! Thanks for those links!! :D

Yes! Thanks for the link! I think it is so cool that you can flip through the keynote with the chapters. I think that is the first time I've seen that done in a QuickTime movie.
